Akantor is not bad, he's just big. Also Brachydios in the old games was only manageable (for me) with SnS or Long Sword (although LS was high risk high reward). 12:03 Bring some Dung Bombs. Old MH games are more reliant on preparation.

Akantor is a big fella. But I'd say he's actually a fairly popular monster and his gear is genuinely quite iconic, Capcom just haven't felt like bringing him back for a while. Personally, I think he's actually quite fun, he has some unexpected tricks up his sleeve and the visual design is terrifying and magnificent.

Huge Konchus also exist in an Event Quest in which you have to hunt a few of them without armor in the Arena.

Akantor is actually pretty fun. It will also give you one of the best charge blades in the game, but you won't believe it when you see it.

I didn't say anything when I was watching the stream but I do love Akantor. When I was a young hunter I had a group of irl friends that I had hunting parties with and we called ourselves the Sons of Ukanlos--another monster you'll meet soon, and sort of the yin to Akantor's yang.

What I am definitely noticing all the time in your streams is that you kinda try to use the charge blade like a switch axe (which makes sense I guess since you're swaxe main after all)

Nice series. With effective farm management you can never run out of items. I tend to Cycle 3 runs of honey, 1 run of paint berries, 3 runs of godbugs, 3 runs of those dragon mushrooms. And then whatever else when necessary, bitterbugs, dung, flashbugs etc. Make sure you always have something in all of your farms.

Stygian Zionogre is just one of the harder fights in this game in general, also took me a few carts when i beat it the very first time. Brute Tigrex is very easy in every game he appears in for some reason. Cant wait for you to fight Akantor, its a pretty fun fight imo.

A fun fact about Akantor is that while it seems it might be an Elder Dragon, it isn't. It is a Flying Wyvern, believe it or not.

First big difficulty spike for me when I solo'd 4U with CB was high rank molten Tigrex. Pretty sure it was the first quest I failed, so be careful with that one tbh

Hello Mr. Heysonjayson been a while , I had mentioned this near when you first started mh4u so I understand that you probably forgot about it but if you wanna stockpile a ton of materials at the "farm" there should be a low level quest that has you turn in a blue kelbi horn or a well done steak ,or both I think, but anyway, just do that over n over as each completion generates 1 chunk of items at the farm and as an added bonus the quests reward you with blue kelbi horns(for it's quest) and well-done steaks( for it's quest) so you'll easily be able to just jump in either quest , immediately turn in the required item(bring it beforehand) and finish instantly, then just repeat as many times as you have slots at the "farm" and go collect your spoils there, and repeat for profit

Aww, Akantor is one of the my favorite fight in the series, but it's not really a popular guy... Also, use the shield! Guard points let you block attacks mid-combo, it really opens up the moveset of the Charge Blade!

8:20 for me the charge blade vs brach matchup is easy when you can guard point and preferably have guard 1+ Tho having the guard skill if you guard point a lot with cb is generally beneficial.

Stygian Zinogre got a great and flashy visual glowup in Iceborne, *BUT*, I still find him much more of a menace in old gen, same case with Brute Tigrex

So, some "fun" facts about Najarala: - Basically any time you get knocked over, this is Najarala's cue to start circling you. - After circling, there IS an escape route left open just before Najarala does the final strike. Not going to spoil where it is, but once you see it, you'll see it every time. Also, Akantor has the best pin attack. If you don't bring Dung Bombs you are just DEAD.

Akantor is super cool I think people get fed up of him when they need to farm him for something cus he has a lot of health so if you haven't learnt his fight it could take a while.

For me a long sword user who is used to the defense and timing of counters I think charge blade might be my only option in 4u. I tried it in the demo and wow it feels powerful

Azure was my first difficulty point, when i had to look at my weapons. Actually, i took up the sand barioth sns for this and found the auto-guard talisman in the box. Didn't help that I'd also been going for the Seregios invader. Forget what armour i was using. I agree for charge blade vs Brachy matchup, i change to dual blades for that, less charging up, more manoeuvring about. Akantor... not hard, it has a ton of health in GU, easy enough here. You'll learn it quickly. I think Brachy might have lower miunting damage thresholds? Maybe? Seems easy enough to mount and all its gear is mounting- so i think that's the implication. Stygian HR i never had a huge issue, MR, i always, don't even go cute with my evade extender that i usually use, i go with dragon res, think my slots allow me +10 for it on that set. It's all the same pieces for that set, it's not anything meta or edgemastery, it's the load up set, think it also has guard up and artillery? Innate good dragon resist and maybe good fire resist too? I also used it with heat res gemmed in for BTCV, its phial-focussed impact idiocy means you don't have to put yourself in harm's way, as long as those fixed damage phials and in my case SAEDs hit, you get to do consistent damage that way. Just a set and tactic to consider down the line.

Time for this week's RECAP, been a while since I did one of these: 1) As for our Special Quest it IS possible to do. The first attempt I did not have Dash Juice and made it. The Apex Black Gravious in the quest when it roars in the area you are in, your stone explodes. Such pain. With the meal we told ya, Cheese(Milk/Dairy) + Fish + Steamed = Super Cat & Lander. Prevents ya from dropping the Powderstone via getting hit & Lander is required to make the jump. If ya cart, you cannot do the quest. It truly is "evil" but man o man, you almost made it. You can thank Adsventurer for that one. Don't worry, my quest will be LESS cruel. His was more about laughing AT the Streamer. Mine is more about laughing WITH the Streamer. 2) You've oddly always struggle with Zinorge in every game you have played. Hilariously you have -10 Dragon for Styg and -15 Thunder for Standard Ziggi. The match up is not in your favor and your Elemental Res definitely doesn't help ya. 3) You learned the better charge combo, yay! I still can't Guard Point on command, so good luck with that. Oh jay you should ready yourself against akantor, after all it is the village high rank final boss of MHFU Also if you want to practice guard point there are other monsters that you coulf hunt in order to perfect your guard point (instead of waiting for grank to hunt diablos which is you are still far). Here are the following monsters to practice guard point: Tigrex Brute Tigrex Molten Tigrex Zinogre Monoblos Rathian Tetsucabra

Yeah Aka and Uka are a bit of a snoozefest. They're pretty cool the first time, but it's not the kind of fight I want to do over and over. Also, that modded quest was evil, as if there aren't enough challenging egg quests in this game already lol.

let me tell you something about monster's power levels, because this game has one of the best difficulty curves of all cathegorized in different monster tiers. Easy -Jaggi tier: small bird wyverns, easy early game monsters, great Jaggi, seltas and such -Qurupeco tier: elemental and status inflicting monsters that tend to be not very powerful: kecha wacha, Yian kut ku, gypceros, and so on -Ludroth tier: stronger, yet fairly decent elemental monsters, not too hard, not too strong, tetsucabra, basarios, Daimyo hermitaur, congalala and such -Rathian tier: decent monsters that can put up a fight. Rathian, Khezu, Nerscylla, you get the idea Hard -Rathalos tier: monsters that can be difficult, you gotta take them seriously, Rathalos, Seltas queen, monoblos list goes on. -Gravios tier: monsters that are Hard and hit hard, extreme caution adviced. Diablos, Gravios, Tigrex, Zinogre, and more. -Nargacuga tier: Monsters that are nearly as strong as Elder dragons: Gore magala, Brachydios, Seregios VERY HARD -Elder dragon I tier: The weakest of the elder dragons. the elder trio, kirin, Deviljho, Gold and Silver Raths -Elder dragon II tier: Truly strong elder dragons, endgame bosses. Akantor, Ukanlos, Nuclear Brachydios, Chaos Magala, the 3 endgame exclusive monsters (these are usually fought in an arena with 4 hunters, trying to solo them is insane). -Rajang Tier: Rajang -Elder dragon III tier: Reserved for Fatalis and it's variants

Regarding "evolving" your charge blade playstyle. I think people kept telling you this since the beginning but you never got a handle on this, and it is a seriously important thing to actually figure out how to do if you want to get better. You need to learn how to cancel your big red shield SAED into a normal AED. I know that SAED is cool and all and it is very satisfying to land, but I've seen you play and it is actively hurting you that you aren't cancelling it. Most of SAEDs you completely whiff, which costs you all your phials and removes your red shield charge, forcing you to do the whole maintenance again. And those you hit are almost always worse than if you just did an AED instead. I don't know why you seem resistant to learning it, but if you were serious when you said in the video that you need to step it up, you WILL have to figure this out. All it really takes is a 4 minute video from gajin hunter on Charge Blade Amp Cancelling. In short summary: AED is much easier to land, hits the monster faster, has much faster recovery, does not remove red shield and only costs 1 phial to do. Meaning that in vast majority of circumstances it is THE right thing to do. The question is not "should I cancel my SAED", cancelling it into AED is the default, the question is "should I let SAED happen?". And the answer to that is almost always: no. The only real situations when SAED is good to use is during wake ups when you can align it perfectly and you can easily do it without negative consequences. Or when you see your red shield is about to run out anyway and you are 100% confident you can land it before it does. All of this is assuming you're using an impact phial charge blade. But honestly you should just use one all the time. Elemental phials require much more equipment optimization and you'll need to make different ones for different monsters... And since you don't really do that you will only hurt your performance even further if you don't stick with impact phials. Plus, stuns are a thing, and they are really good.

Sounds weird, but you'll have a better time with Charge Blade if you shield less often. It's not the Gun/Lance shield. The recoil from attacks with Charge Blade Shield takes too long. It's better to dodge.
