Being a Omni weapon Hunter is great. Though when you fight certain monster, you feel like another weapon is more effective. Switch weapons, and that feeling will never go away.

Hi! Insect Glaive main here, PLEASE DONT max out only speed!! I know this is probably too late, but try to balance them! You’ll get a SIGNIFICANTLY better bug if you balance them until you unlock the last bug, you’ll get triple time up and extra buffs! After you unlock it you can just jam it with speed though.

Nakarkos is a special monster to me. The first time I fougth him was a solo hunting case my hunting budy wasn't abailable, I manage to kill it with either 3 seconds or 3 miliseconds left in the timer and the cherry on top, I still was getting use to the game cause it was my first MH back in 2016. That been said, I love its high rank hunt, can't talk about the G cause I haven't figth it, yet.

I am dying from the fact he named one of his palicos after me and Rauls Edit at the start someone send help Edit: Jay! As your resident Hammer Main might I propose really trying to learn adept hammer. It keeps all the standard moves as a normal hammer so you still got your three hit golfswing BUT when you time the dodge correctly you unlock a different charge state which has new charge moves. These Charge Moves actually are in Rise too so Its moves that transfer over to other games. Adept dodging is not nearly as bad as you have been thinking it is. Adept essentially gives you free Evasion Skill points so you have more i-frames to your dodge. What I am trying to say Adept Hammer is the really good comfort one I only had you start with Aerial Hammer as it prevents the Level 3 charge attack from being the spin and just makes it a more powerful upswing which is good for sniping heads when you are starting out

@@LucasTigy2 yes But the thing Valor loses is something Jay covered..... The Golfswing. Yes you get it back in Valor Mode BUT Golfswing is the staple of GU Hammer. You should be using it as much as possible so anything that limits its use is a massive demerit. There is a reason why speedrunner use Guild Hammer as the Meta. Adept Hammer is basically Guild in that you lose nothing outside of a single hunter art to gain access to those charge moves Edit: I am not saying Valor Hammer is bad, I am just saying that Hammer is not one of the weapon types where Valor is its Best Style. The Best is Guild, but if you want comfort you go Adept.

Heyjay! Whenever you upgrade all weapons pls choos the narga weapons (especially the narga LS, insect glaive and LBG) becoz narga weapon path is very good in LR and HR. The same can be said on seregios weapons(atleast the blademaster)

Yeah, I feel you. High rank version gets a few new moves that make it a bit more interesting, but they could've done so much more with this monster. I remember this monster being one of my biggest disappointments with Generations. But I promise there's still plenty of fantastic monsters to come to make up for it.

One thing you can do to make Insect Glaive more manageable is just grab white and red first so you have most of the improved damage and the full move set then grab orange when you start to run out to get the full timer for full.

Here's a tip for extract gathering when hunting for extending your time while gathering extracts less. Red is the one that unlocks your combos actually and using it with white will give you the movement speed buff while keeping combos active (this lasts 1 minute and each extract alone lasts 30 seconds), when you're gonna run out of that 2 color combo then you gather the orange extract to restart the timer and have all 3 extracts alternatively if you get good you can use the hunter art that gathers all 3 when you run out so you keep that triple color combo going.

Related tips: - When you have a combo of two extracts (preferably red+white), you can actually refill each color individually to sustain the combo indefinitely. - Whereas the triple extract combo MUST be allowed to expire before you can refill each color. Ideally, when this combo is about to expire send your bug out to grab more red extract, but wait to recall it so the combo wears off first.

Aerial heavy Bowgun has the "pew pew pew" that Aerial light Bowgun has, its just that you need to use ammo thats compatible with crouching fire. after jumping off a monster press X+A while equipped with crouching fire compatible ammo to shoot multiple shots in the air and when you land you can press B (or was it A?) to go immediately into the crouching fire state to continue the "pew pew pew"-ing.

I would suggest for Insect Glaive that you pick up and use the Extract Hunter art, in which when you use it, your hunter winds up and lobs the bug forward having it collect an "omni-extract", which gives all three when it returns and keeps it up for a duration depending on the Art's level. You do have to time it, but it's a good way to help keep up all three while you're getting a hang of collecting extracts

For aerial HBG, if you want "pew pew pew" you need an ammo type you can crouching fire and press x + a while midair (this also sends your hunter flying allowing you to get some distance). The beauty with this style is that you can dodge immediately outta crouching fire and even do an aerial vault from it. This style works best with a pellet HBG (to ensure you land your shots and it does a lot of mounting damage).

Rise is probably the funnest game in the series to become an ‘Omni hunter’ after GU. The moves each weapon got, is a blast in that game as a series vet. Though a lot of them are reminiscent to arts in GU. But you can do them much more, and put them into your combos instead of having to build the meter

I think I'm going to join you, Jay, in Wilds as an Omni hunter. I always limit myself to two weapons at most in a game. I don't really like some weapons, such as a bow, and I think part of that is because I just haven't used them enough to appreciate the weapon.

Additional comment! As far as Raw goes, while it's definitely important, it's More Important for weapons that do heavy strikes, like Greatsword, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Switch Axe, Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun, and Bow - on the other hand, the faster weapons like Longsword, Sword and Shield, Dual Blades, Lance, Insect Glaive, and Light Bowgun will tend to want to focus on higher Element/Status (or in LBG's case, rapid fire with elemental) for greater damage, though that as well means you should know what a monster is weak to (the easy way to tell without checking a guide is to check the armor they make - it tends to have the same elemental resistance and weakness as the monster does). Of course, there are examples of the opposite for both; power weapons being given low-raw, high-element, and fast weapons getting high-raw, low-element. One more thing, don't neglect the Sharpness: a weapon with a higher Sharpness can do more damage than one with higher Raw but lower Sharpness.

I've done a couple of nakarkos hunts last week in order to upgrade his greatsword wich is incredibly strong. Each hunt lasted 30 minutes. I only needed 1 material ( not even rare drop ) to finally upgrade its GS... I didn't get ANY hardshell ... I don't have words

If you’re having a hard time with getting essence off the monster. Focus on just getting red until you’re better with the marker. The key isn’t getting all the essences right away but getting them at better opportunities and midmaxing the timer. The three essence buff is shorter than individual color buffs! Like having the bug hold the final essence color for when you get the mount. So you don’t run out of essence too close to the end of the mount and can attack the monster without losing the red buff combos

If you're looking for challenge with prowler mode, maybe try beast prowler. Fully melee palico and a bit difficult to work with, but extremely fun (imo)

Gaismagorm is somehow the hellish motif of Nakarkos done better. Cool idea that help & hinderance concept ! My suggestion would be that among hinderances, you could ask chat to chose a specific move of a weapon and do most of your damage with, so you can master specific aspects of each weapons.

Time for this week's breakdown: 1) Pretty much every comment is "You didn't even actually SEE the Thumb Nail Monster". So my dear Jay, just wait, this monster's anime arc is not done yet. 2) Omni-Hunting other games, heh, you'll be still in MHGU while MH6 drops. But sure maybe after MH6. 3) Obviously the top mask and increased Defense one is Blademaster. Shame on chat. This is because we do not have enough Gunners. 4) Ah yes, old Monster Hunter lets ANYTHING kill a Monster. In MH Gen 5 it has to be a HUNTER to get the final blow. The monster will stay at 1 HP otherwise. 5) Gotta love Deviants. 6) Prowler Mode IS "Easy Mode", but can give a fun playstyle. There are many different Prowler Styles. 7) Sword & Shield is BALLER. Just wait till you unlock all the Oils. Ans what it takes to actually unlock those Oils. 8) Valor style is pretty much the Style everyone uses for most weapons. Some weapons have specific style combos, like STRIKER LANCE. But Valor and Adept are good go tos in my opinion. 9) Good job gathering materials and doing some grinding. Prowler is NOT easy mode, especially Late game! It can be quite a challenge in Master rank!

@@meikahidenori I actually agree with this statement quite a bit. Prowler is a legit way to play, but by far it is Easy Mode for Low and High Rank. And it's definitely "Easier Mode" for gathering and such. It's feel safer in a lot of ways. With the removal of Gathering Tools in Gen 5 I fear we may never see Prowler Mode return. Also, I want Tools to come back. Not just for Prowler Mode to have more weight, but level of Prep Work from older titles as well, but we all know that's pretty much not gonna happen. Sadge.

Nakarkos is my favourite monster in the whole series and my favourite fight in all of GU, once you fight him in High Rank/G Rank you should see why. All I'll say is, you only fought his first phase in the repel quest.

There is a Hunter Art that collects all 3 extracts at once (Extract Hunter) and IG Hunter Arts are all bad imo so you could just use this one if you dont like collecting extracts.

Jay before you do any silly stuff please listen to the following Insect Glaive advice: Give your bug a balanced diet. keep it's stats balanced so it can transform into the best version in the game the best bug has a hidden skill called "Effect extender" that increases the time your buffs last meaning that you have to aim your bug less, and focus more on dealing damage the only way to get that bug is to get your bug up to level 6, with balanced stats and without evolving it at all then a new evolution tree unlocks, that's the bug you're looking for! after that feel free to boost up it's speed and the rest of the stats, at that point you'll have above 100 speed so the bug will feel good regardless of what stat you increase and don't worry if you screw up your bug evolution, you can always try again by exchanging bugs with a different insect glaive (even a freshly bought one!)

Speaking to advice for Aerial Light Bowgun…short answer is “don’t.” Long answer is: Aerial tends to be up close and personal, and you’re wearing gunner armor. Which is to say, NO armor. You CAN get aerial multi-shot, but only if your gun is equipped for Rapid Fire and you’ve loaded the specific ammo that gun rapid fires in your gun before you jump and fire it. If you can rapid fire normal 2’s or pierce, have it in your gun before you hop. But again…why are you putting yourself at risk to do that? Style points? You’re already capable of AIMING up there from the ground, so there’s no need to vault up and get your aluminum foiled booty carted.

To be fair to Nakarkos, "Repel" quests are ALWAYS disappointing compared to the equivalent "Hunt" quest that you will get later. Lagiacrus repel in MH3U? No water no electricity. Gore Magala repels in MH4U? No Frenzy mode. Nergigante repel in World? Not even your quest target (aka. Zorah Magdaros). Velkhana repel in Iceborne? No ice armor. Now, for Insect Glaive, marking the monster has always been there, and is still even present in World/Rise, with the main difference being that they swapped whether the melee/projectile mark is the default. In MH4U (and MHGU) you can _only_ combo into a melee mark (by pressing R after an attack) while the projectile mark is the default (just press R), while in World you do the melee mark by default and have to press 2 buttons (comparable to Slinger/Clutch Claw) to access the projectile mark. 7:10 - Yes, despite Old Gen armors having dedicated Melee/Gunner sets, helmets were usually interchangeable between the two, even when their visual design _and_ skills were the same. In these cases the _only_ difference is their base defense vs. elemental defense -- remember that a full +20 Res for an element blocks its associated Blight, meaning that for some sets Gunners are immune to some elemental blights when Blademasters are not, but _only_ when wearing a fully-matched Gunner set; even just swapping out the helmet is enough to drop the Element Res below the threshold of full blight immunity.

That's a great data I wish I knew before, took me about 800 hours in MHWI and another 300 in MHGU to learn about blight immunity through elemental defense .-.

@@campoyo3788 Yeah, at +10 elemental res the number turns orange and you get partial blight resistance for that element (mostly indicated by a smaller blight icon instead of a large blight icon -- there actually are some elemental attacks that inflict the lesser blight, but most inflict the major version), and at +20 the number turns red and you have complete immunity to said blight. Melee Rathalos armor for example gets +15 Fire Res while Gunner Rathalos armor gets +20 (and full immunity to Fireblight). Presumably, in World/Rise this is handled by the "armor type bonus" instead, with Gunners having boosted elemental Res (and fewer blights) while Blademasters get better neutral Defense. Element-specific resistance skills in Old Gen were mainly useful for eliminating their elemental blight -- at skill+10 you get +15 to that Res (pair with an armor with +5 Res -- e.g. most Gunner armors -- for a full blight immunity) while at skill+15 you get +20 to that Res (pair with almost any armor, including most Melee armors, for full blight immunity).

I do agree, low rank Nakarkos is kinda lame. He just swims around the arena a bunch and then peaces out when you do enough damage, it's such an unsatisfying encounter. He's such a shy lil fella, I can't hate it too much.

afaik the first 5 ranks of each deviant are considered low rank. since you're going into HR now you should be able to kill them in my opinion stonefist is the easiest of all of them

The level IV deviant quests are where the quest descriptions say theyre "stronger than any youve faced before" but im not sure if theyre actually high rank ones yet or just more stat bloated. But ignoring that, youre right on how their level/ranking distribution is
