I'm not sure what the Dr told Brailey, but I heard her say that she will only be partially weight-bearing for a while. That being said, (I am a physical therapist assistant with 10 years experience) she should still be using her crutches for now. I'm not trying to be critical, just trying to help. 🙂 Anyway, I am glad to see that she is doing so well....acl/meniscus is a painful process, she is a trooper!!!!

Hey!! My chickens do the same thing, it’s called broody, hens get broody in the spring thinking they are laying eggs to hatch.

Easiest way to break it is to get some eggs that a fertile for her to lay on to hatch chicks or just get some baby chickens for her. Also can just make sure you get her up 3 or 4 times a day. Hope that helps!!

Last summer I had a stroke and I am currently living in a nursing home and rehab facility recovering I had to relearn to walk but I still can’t bare weight on my left leg (suffered left side paralysis!). I was blessed with a wheelchair ramp last Friday and got to go inside my house for the first time in a year. PT is difficult but so worth it!

Hi! I had chickens for three years and my family has done a ton of research on chickens. One of the reasons why chickens dig holes is to clean themselves. It's called, dusting and they use the dirt to clean themselves underneath their feathers! Which was probably the reason why your chicken dug the hole haha. Also, chickens rake the grass with their feet in order to pull up worms, insects, etc. They don't just eat worms, they love snails as well! I hope this helps :)

Awh poor Brailee! I tore my ACL freshmen in high school, it was hard recovery but had the best emotional support! And came back stronger in sports. But tore my ACL, MCL and meniscus my freshman year in college lol. Make sure you take care of yourself Brailee. It’s tough and hard, feels like a major setback but you always come back stronger and better. 🥰

I found this on the web. It’s for our benefit, as it makes it easy to find and collect their eggs. If you don't provide nesting boxes, chickens will still lay eggs. They will make their own nesting areas and lay them wherever they feel is the safest option. ... So, this is why we put nesting boxes in coops.

When I had knee surgeries they used dissolvable stitches and in the left knee one of set of dissolvable stitches do not dissolve and area around them become puss try to get rid of them.

Brailee I’ve been doing physical therapy for years, mostly on my back but I do some leg stuff too. Everyone says no pain no gain and it’s true. It’s going to hurt at first but the more you do it the easier it gets.

I have had chickens for 20 years. Your chicken is broody. She is wanting to hatch eggs. You can get her some ceramic eggs from a store like tractor supply. She also needs a place to have a dust bath, that is how they keep clean and free of mites. That is why she is wanting to dig a hole in your plating box. She’s fine and normal. Look up broody chickens.

Those stitches don’t look bad at all they did a different type of ACL reconstruction than mine was. Brailee would really lose it, I had 165 stitches in my jaw when they had to do jaw surgery, they had to drill through my teeth all the molars. Eventually she will feel her knee again, it will take a while for the numbness to go away because of nerves being aggravated from the surgery but she’ll get the feeling back

To break the brood- put her in a smaller isolated coup (even dog kennel) with minimal nesting materials for a few days. Of course food and water. That should break it.

brai worried about the stitches you might be able to wait a little bit from when they say they can be removed i know a few people who did that to wait for them to get a bit looser they waited about 1 week and it worked well it ended up being painless except for the last one they said felt like a small pinch something to think about and you usually get see them coming loose and make that decision with your mom so you feel less pain

What Does Egg Bound Mean? You have probably heard the expression egg bound chicken, but what does it actually mean? If a chicken is egg bound it means she has an egg stuck inside of her and she is having difficulty in passing it. The egg is literally stuck in the last portion of her reproductive tract, and the chicken is unable to pass the egg as easily as she would normally.

Once the shell has been laid over the egg, the egg starts to turn so that the blunt end passes first (this is sometimes where the trouble starts). Symptoms Of An Egg Bound Chicken As chickens are a prey species, they have learned how to hide the fact that they may be ill or feeling unwell. In the wild the weakest, oldest and sickest were the first to be killed or driven away from the flock. Our backyard chickens are not much different. They hide their symptoms very well (and unless you know your birds) so it is easy to miss some of the more subtle signs of illness or distress. Many of the signs and symptoms listed below can be seen in a variety of ailments, so you need to practice your detective skills! The Penguin Walk: Known as the Penguin Walk, this is the classic egg bound walk. The chicken walks a bit like a penguin and looks uncomfortable and distressing. Tail pumping: This is the second cardinal sign for egg binding. She will stand legs apart, squatting low to the ground and start pumping her tail up and down in an effort to lay the egg. Sometimes this maneuver is successful and she will pass the egg. Eating less: Although this symptom is vague, it is important to monitor. Perhaps the chicken is just feeling a bit off and is back to normal the next day. However if your hen has reduced her feed or water intake longer than 24-36 hours, pay close attention. Dehydration can make egg binding much worse. Frequent sitting and lethargy: Your chicken may sit for extended periods of time between short walks. She will look lethargic, eyes may be closed and just generally she just looks miserable and depressed. Shaking: Straining to expel the egg can cause shaking and exhaustion after just a couple of hours in some chickens. No poop (or very wet poop): When the egg is stuck it effectively seals off the intestinal tract from the vent. Any solid matter is unable to pass, so she may pass foul smelling liquid in small quantities.

How To Treat An Egg Bound Chicken The good news is you can treat this condition effectively if it is discovered early enough. There are a couple of things you can try at home to get the egg to pass. The first thing you need to check is that there is actually an egg stuck - to determine this you will need to do an internal exam of your hen. You will need to hold your hen under your arm with her facing backwards. Using a latex glove coated with vaseline, gently insert your index finger into her vent. Insert the finger, aiming straight forward and very slightly upward. If there is an egg you should be able to feel it. If you have inserted your finger to a depth of 2 inches and cannot find an egg - there is not one.

are you feeding the chicken compost worms or mealworms because mealworms cause health issues to the chicken usually involving their eggs compost worms i found out totally fine and i find that odd that any worm is okay since animal wonders talked about not feeding birds worms at all maybe try giving the bird some Vegetables and fruit scraps Items that you might intend for composting are excellent treats to feed to your chickens. These are natural and healthy which don’t pose any threat to your chickens at all. These scraps also make excellent compost that helps produce an excellent place for composting worms to live. just to try to see maybe to many worms she ate and pay attention to the eggs
