I love traveling around the first week of October. People usually think of October as fall, when it's cold, but early October is usually still pretty warm enough for your to enjoy yourself without the crowds!

I totally agree! I love traveling in October. I feel like it's the perfect time to beat the crowds and still enjoy the weather before winter.

Glad you mention “Let your bank know”. That one screwed me big time. Nothing like making a panic call to your bank when you are down to your last Euro. Especially when you are in one of the most expensive cities in the country (Venice in my case). I had to leave the city for the counry side for two days while things could get sorted out. Actually that was actually great, but it was frustrating. Lesson learned.
@BarnaliD3 жыл бұрын
I read, "had to leave the city for the countryside" I'm like, hmm, that doesn't sound too bad, in fact, it must have been beautiful. Then I kept reading. :)

I love that first tip about not blaming a country or a destination for having a bad time. When I went to Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia a few years ago, I ended up spraining my right foot there, but I still loved the place due to how beautiful it is. As a result, I would love to go back again! The last tip about traveling with other people is a very good one. People can behave much differently on a trip than in everyday life. That's why it may not be a bad idea to do a "trial run" where you do a day trip or a small trip so that it does not potentially ruin a long trip. Great video!

Trial run with a potential travel companion is a great idea 👍

I definitely agree with the second to last one. I traveled to Greece with my best friend and we didn't get along lol. I realized that we have completely different travel styles.

I feel like when you're traveling with your parents or family, we have to be accommodating because everyone is at a different level. Last year, I traveled with different groups: friends, boyfriend, solo, and family and they were all different experiences. There were pros and cons for each of them.

I work at an airline and I cannot emphasize how important it is to book your itinerary in ONE booking. You’re 100% right! When airline A is delayed or cancelled , they’re responsible for rebooking their guests. If the airline employee only sees their flight on the itinerary there is no way for them to rebook flight B. It has sucked having to tell guests that they’ve lost hundreds of dollars on flight B, because it wasn’t on one reservation. 😬 My tip for those who reaaally want to book them separately, is to book them with one day difference. That way if flight A is cancelled or delayed, they have 24 hrs to catch flight B.
@mattofstie92983 жыл бұрын
Definitely a high risk move. Glad to hear it from an airline employee 👍

The different carrier flights happened to me! My first flight was cancelled and the company gladly gave me another ticket, but I would not be able to get my second flight back to Europe... I freaked out. I was lucky the company decided to help me and arranged for me to land in another airport so that I could still catch my second flight, but... I learned my lesson.

These are great tips! Had to learn some of these the hard way, lol. On the subject of a bad experience, I found I just do not like Rome. I had the worst allergies to the city (cigarette smoke EVERYWHERE) and a lot of people seemed crabby. Milano was the opposite. Everyone was friendly, I was able to breathe much better, and it seemed the city wasn't "full of itself" (I try to say this as kindly as possible!).

Back in Feb 2020 we bought the family tickets for March to go back to Canada (living in AU now) and got insurance that included cancellation insurance... for $6000 it cost $600, obviously the best $600 I spent because covid broke out and we cancelled our flights. Everyone around us was saying "just go, it'll be fine." but we were worried about getting stuck in quarantine. Nobody had any idea the world would shut down. Note it had to be "Cancel for any reason" insurance because we cancelled before the airlines did.

When I went on exchange, I advised my bank about my travels and they said they’d put a notice on my account. 2 months into the trip my card was frozen... I tried calling the customer service and the number was protected and could only receive calls from a Canadian number. Such a disaster trying to get by mom to call the bank from Canada and request that they call me back on my Spain number. All because I decided to rent Lime scooters in Portugal and all of the small charges of 1-5$ were suspicious🤦🏻♀️

I had noticed that you took down some videos involving exploited animals. However I ponder whether we should judge these people by western standards. These were poor people in poor countries just trying to make a living however they can. Can we be sure that we would not do the same in their situation?
@sirgusdaddyix47293 жыл бұрын
I agree with empathizing with the people who are trying to make a living. People do have to support themselves and their families while working with the hands they’ve been dealt with. The fact that you bring up this point makes me appreciate how you’re seeing things from a human side. That being said, I think there’s a difference in judging the people who run businesses like that, and the act of the business itself. I don’t wanna come off as one sided and act like I have all the answers, but it should be important to recognize the issue that is unethical treatment of animals in positions like that, as well as the environmental issues regarding it too (not implying that you don’t recognize it, it’s only worth noting). By paying money to participate with an unethical businesses, we in turn promote unethical treatments through our dollar, simply because it works for an economy. If we put that money towards more ethical businesses and practices however, then it promotes ethical treatment as a result. That’s the power that consumers have to impact an economy, and more importantly, a culture.
