I would love to hear a version where the conductor was super chilled out and slow, with big pauses between the phrases. And performed in a massive palatial cave. A call to the smith of the heavens. I find it so beautiful.

A very fine song, similar to "Veni redemptor gentium" by Ambrosius and "Nun komm der Heiden Heiland" by Luther. TSS, jeg er veldig imponert over hvor herlig dere synger! Lykke til videre!!

I think this performance was absolutely excellent! The missing high soprano and low bass contrast was made up for in the Crescendo 10 fold. I would encourage the ensemble to train up higher tennors and sopranos to help expand on the vocal choir range to help cement this throughout the song. Regardless of my criticism this really and truly was beautiful! thank you for posting it and I hope to see more performances by this clearly very talented group.

I know this hymn dates back ages, but it seems to only of gotten the spotlight after Árstíðir started doing it.

The conductor is doing a great job. Too bad we can't see all of it... Conductors aren't given the credits they deserve because most people just see a person waving its arms. From the musicians' perspective it's completely different.

It's a wonderful work and a good performance. Down a tone, and 10% slower, would be more to my taste--but that's *only* my taste. To the language critics, try learning Icelandic before knocking the Norwegians' efforts. And go visit Iceland--you'll see the whole world there.

Usłysz, kowalu niebios, o co prosi Cię poeta. Niech Twa łaska przyjdzie do mnie łagodnie. Wzywam Cię, bo mnie stworzyłeś. Jestem Twym niewolnikiem, a Ty moim Panem. Boże, wzywam Cię, byś mnie uzdrowił. Pamiętaj o mnie, łagodny. Potrzebujemy Cię najbardziej. Odpędź, o Królu słońc, Szczodry i wspaniały, każdy ludzki smutek z miasta serca.

Upprunalegaur framburður er sem sagt meira en "little bit strange". ;) Þetta er að mínu mati ein flottasta útgáfa þessa söngs sem ég hef heyrt. Bravó! :)

1. viking is not a race, it is an occupation. There is no more a race of vikings than there is a race of pirates (albeit the British come close) 2. this song has little to do with said vikings or even the people from that time period.

blehh nahh Because it's very rare for me to see a Black person singing in or speaking Icelandic. I am equally amazed when I see an Asian or a White person speaking an African language for example, or an African speaking an Asian language, it's not something a see a lot. On the other hand, it's not as rare seeing a Black or Asian person speaking more common European languages like English or German, or a White person who speaks Chinese. I see that a lot so it's not novel and therefore not unique to me. So I don't point that out :-) Hope that answers your question.

Well, yeah seeing a black person singing in Icelandic is rare... :), still does not make it a "thing". I would not like to meet this guy because hes black and singing in Icelandic, I would however like to meet him and this awesome choir, indifferent of the skin color :).
