That was quite the intro 😂😮 My initial thought was that you got stung by a stingray. I got stung by one when I was 14/15, I was scuba diving in Mexico. I was lucky though because I don’t think it injected me with venom.

If y'all are still in Matagorda, go to the end of the jettie by the big pier. As your looking straight out cast out at 11 o clock. There's a trough that runs through there and out about 30 to 40 yards out. I pulled 10 bullreds out of there in 3 hours one day

Hey skipper crew nice work, camera view r getting better....kick azz team. I'm commenting today about ur short leader style. There's a small plastic like tube that goes on ur line with a weight. It's called a sliding sinker, I'm sure u have used or seen them. There a hook like thing sometimes there's a small hole on the hook. It's so u can hook ur bait on it before casting. Prevens spinning and gives u a much better cast. Just bait ur hook then hook ur sliding sinker and cast. U will see a big difference when ur baits in the air. It stays straight. Something they don't come with them.

A friend of mine stepped on a pectoral fin of a hardhead skeleton, which was buried in the sand. The whole barb was buried in his heal along with the head and fin area. I had to pull it out. Took three times, but when it came out, it made a ripping sound. It was very painful for him and an emergency room visit.

One thing you could and should be doing is considering being a paid teacher/guide for anyone interested here in fishing with you and having hands on experience with set ups, locations, etc. Like a fish camp for 5-10 people. I've seen you and your family catch enough big fish to make it worthwhile. Pick a venue, and your family will help. Drone footage should be a must also, to get that great view from the sky when spotting fish or having one on.

I've hooked into some really big catfish in the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. like 40+ pounders. The worst part is the Gill plates very sharp. But yes, always wear good quality shoes when fishing :)

I know with a stingray barb and venom, heat breaks down the protein. Nothing else reduces the pain. Hot towels, hot water (this is the reason people peed on their wounds), anything you can place on hot metal to get it warm. Then a few hours later, the pain eases.

Erin...😂.u are truly a trooper, but....NO.....not only is that method not effective, it increases the chances of u urself becoming invenomated....Hot water works well for the venom, the fish's own slime is said to ease the pain....

Appreciate the concern, but I felt no pain from the venom after the sting after she did that. The barb went all the way in my toe too. So I think it did work. Usually when the barb stings you, it hurts for days after.

I got stung by a catfish trying to pick it up under a pier rail and I had gloves on but he got through the soft part of the glove and not the hard rubber part on the palm still have the scar and it happened a few months ago lucky no bars stuck in me but boy did it hurt when I got stung

Your foot is now bait. I'm new to fishing and only caught a ton of catfish when I first started so I read a lot about their barbs. Everyone claims that if you get barbed, you should rub the slime of the catfish over your wound to alleviate the pain. I would just avoid touching them altgother.
