I AGREE. Anson's making this legendary iconic character his own. We only got snippets of Jeffrey Hunters classic performance as Pike and Mount is taking it to other levels. I would love to see a series of his Captaincy aboard the Enterprise with Spock and the original Number One by his side. That would be an awesome show!!

@@KnowTrentTimoy There seems to be a ground swell of support FOR a Pike/Spock series. There's a facebook page and a twitter account promoting it. There is so much story between Discovery & before Kirk takes over the Enterprise. Anson Mount & Ethan Peck work well together & would definitely be able to handle their own series.

i can deal with every storyline and character except one. Ash tyler. he is a blight on cinimatography. He insults evey person in every military world wide with his promotion to cheif security after murdering, and attempted murdering crew members. You would think there is a star fleet regulation that prohibits a member from serveing on the the same ship of those he killed and attempted to kill. and thats still just touching the surface of this insane, insensitive monster of a horrible idea. The writer for him needs to be shot.

@@rlelinney4646 --- You need to watch it again. Tyler was not promoted on starfleet but on Section 31. He was promoted to Security by Captain Lorca after they escaped from the Klingon Ship & were beamed up onto the Discovery ship. He was the security guy. He hadn't killed anyone yet. He only killed then Dr. after he did scans on him & saw he was altered.

STD is kinda lost right now. I barely tolerated season 1. Season 2 is developing well and made me excited for its new direction. Especially with Anson Mount entering the cast. I admit it will be difficult though as they have set up some strange story arcs in season 1 to overcome. Jason Isaacs hire was a fail. The Lorca/Bernham storyline did not work either. The new direction proved that. I guess Jason Isaacs (as talented as he is) attacked viewers/critics of the show amongst other strange actions. Proves actors can be talented yet not so bright. Gawd help the series if they re-hire him as the prime Lorca version etc. Unfortunately I heard Anson has left (Possibly fired) also. Now I cannot see this going well. We can only pray but season 3 may be a short or final one. I wish Anson Mount played another captain or similar on a different Star Trek series. He really is the perfect Star Trek captain.

He was not fired.....that was an ugly rumor. His contract, unfortunately, is for one year only.......I just hope CBS knows what a jewel of an actor they have in Anson Mount & either give him his on Pike series or at least his own show. He was phenomenal in Hell on Wheels

@@carob6546 - Rumour lol. Not renewing contracts is the way they fire. Being fired for abnormal conduct is different. Does not matter, I agree with you. They need to follow him up as some sort of ST captain. Maybe they will.

Whatever Jason Isaacs did on social media has nothing to do with how his character worked in that story. Because it did work. The subtle hints dropped throughout the season payed off when it was revealed he was from the mirror universe The fact that you use an actors personal actions to influence your opinion about a character he's playing shows me that you say one thing, but mean another thing entirely. You're garbling your point.

@@afekasi79 - Mate please read what I wrote and stop making assumptions. You want an argument or something over nothing? In reference to Isaacs, I was adding the point his social media skills affected the shows appearance to 'many' fans at the time. I never said it affected his show character nor implied it. It will effect ratings and appearance again if he returns. That's the world we live in now. I personally don't care. I stated a fact, not an opinion. I think Isaacs played a great part. As I said he is very talented. However I will say the story-line appealed to very few in the 1st season. Everyone knows the 1st season barely got them a 2nd. Now if you want my personal opinion (as you seem to want to know and think I'm hiding it).. I believe the show has been struggling because it was very disruptive within Star Trek cannon and you have to admit the show has taken so many right turns people have left the show behind. I am sticking with it through the Capt. Pike arc. I love the Arc currently. However I do find the show somewhat schizophrenic. I do worry what happens after Pike. The show moves off centre again? Anyhow enjoy the show. I'm sure you don't like every square inch of it. And take a calm pill and stop accusing others of deceit.

Bad Name Given the success of the show, I would like to know exactly who these people are that have left? You mean the ones whinging and crying that their white mans trek has been disturbed? Or that those that SAY they believe trek should be more to roddenberry's vision, but do anything and everything to put themselves into opposition to what that vision even means by the behavior that they display in social media? These voices that 'hate star trek' drown out those meaning to give constructive criticism and the rest of us usually sus them out pretty quickly, because the arguments have no foundation to stand on. So like Isaacs I say: they can fuck all the way off. Why should the rest of us care if they get their feathers ruffled? They use Roddenberry and his 'vision' like a hooker uses condoms on a good friday night. But they also loved ds9 although that show got so much hate even before it premiered. Its happened with EVERY single series except TOS. So why should how Isaacs behavior 'seemed' to those 'fans' matter to anyone in the least? Much less matter to the bosses in charge? What season 1 did do, when one ignored all the bitchery from the peanut gallery, was cause discussion. It was not perfect but....did you see the first season of TNG? Your whole premise is that Discovery is somehow on shaky ground when , in fact, it never was.
