I'm addicted to Star Trek Discovery and the way the characters work well together as a family.

This show and it’s characters get way to much hate - Disco is fun, new and still feels very Star Trek imo. 🤷‍♀️❤️

Brilliant Characters, Amazing Visuals and Wonderful Writing ... STD is for me the best Star Trek so far. And I've been watching since the 1960s. Hope we get a season 4.

A lot of the Discovery hate out there is because people don’t like a powerful black female as the lead of a huge franchise. Sonequa Martin-Green is an amazing actress and a stunning woman! Haters: get over yourselves!

You play the race and female card. The people dont like her because she is a Mary Sue and rude. A horrible Character. I have no problem with race or gender. Just with bad writing.

Sisko was black was a leader who united the many species that live on DS9 though his charisma,Janeway was female captain who had to make decision that benefitted not just humans but the universe as a whole, Michael is traitor to the federation, a narcist and has no charisma. She is the Geoffrey equivalent in star trek, Deliberately written in by the writers to get publicity. Leave the race / sex thing out of it

@@1.1123-o Not a Mary Sue, she's character that is torn between race and culture and race and culture, she's an outsider whose constantly contested and traumatized, but yet she's still the epitome of trying to find this story's moral center, without being the Captain or a pretentious hero. She's a character that whose trust continuously gets broken, and sometimes she reacts poorly to it (Tyler), pointing out a genuine flaw, but she still keeps trying to do her job and is forced out her comfort zone, along with the rest of the crew. She's compelling and smart, even though she's not the warmest or easily likable character on the surface. This is a redemption story!!

@@paulkirkham837 She's not Jeoffrey, she's a character on a redemption story that is still trying to figure out whom she really is and is trying to find balance in murkier areas. She's an human whose parents were murdered by Klingons when she was a young girl, in part due because she wanted to stay on their vacation longer, then is raised on Vulcan when adopted by Sarek and Amanda, where she is denied a seat at the Vulcan science academy and forced into Starfeet (as Sarek reserved the one spot for Spock and then the jerk turns around and doesn't take it!) and whose early childhood curiosity that results in loss of her parents is echoed again with her her mother-like Captain on Shenziou that then factors into the start of the war.... Outside of being raised by Cersei, Jofferey doesn't have much of an excuse. Burnham is trying to figure out where she and the Discovery really belong, rising out of a dark time in Trek's history. It's a different kind of story, but reducing it because it isn't traditional is silly.

@Kerrie Phillips Well it's one thing to not like something and be objectively and politely critical about why you don't like it, it's another to demoralize everyone who has a difference of an opinion by spewing snap-judging hate on places clearly not designated for that (like this is a cast interview for the FANS, so if you don't like Discovery, why would you come on a channel/thread for that interview???), clearly wanting to be cool by being antagonistic, while also being ignorant in those claims, as they often have not watched much of whatever it is, they hate today!

Please, please bring Pike back ASAP in a coquel; not a prequel or sequel but corresponding with the continuation of those who remained behind: Peck, Mount, Sharif

Doubtful. They reference too many other things for it to be total plagiarism. The Spore Network and concept of existing outside of space time, along with spiritual metaphysical reverence is similar to plots/themes within FRINGE, (Alone in the World, The Day We Died, Peter and the Machine, the Observers) which two EPs worked on that series... Even though Stamets is named for the real scientist, Bryan Fuller also did something similar in an episode of Hannibal, where the killer named E. Stamets was killing diabetics for his mushroom garden playing on spiritual/transformative notions of life and death (this episode in turn was inspired by the horror film, Motel Hell). In fact many of the characters, most noticeably Mirror Lorca, the Georgouis, Micheal, and Ash Tyler have characteristics and may be archetypes of Hannibal characters (Hannibal, Clarice, Will, Jack Crawford, Lady Murasaki) and plots from all three mediums (books, feature films, tv series) of source material, like Voq/Tyler is not unlike what Hannibal is trying to do to Clarice in the Hannibal-self-titled novel, as he wants to put his dead little sister's conscious into Clarice's body and he tries to condition her, but it doesn't work. IMO the first season was like watching Hannibal (the way Fuller began to reimagine previous source material) in space, where Bryan Fuller picked up heavily of Thomas Harris "war" and multi-folded eugenics and origin turned revenge story, Hannibal Rising.

@@rosalinacv1996 Drekkie huh? We'll see how hipster Spock does. If STD has to either rip off another game developer this season like they did the last. Distort cannon, more Klingorcs and such. I can't wait to watch this dumpster fire burn into cancellation. Meanwhile, The Orville looks good. Like Star Trek.

@@AuthorStephenWalton He's not hipster Spock. That would be ZQ's Spock. IMO they are trying to do a couple of things without completely retreading on previous Spock actors, because they know they couldn't match them (plus there may be rights issue with trying to get ZQ). They're trying to make him seem like an golden-age of a Hollywood-like version of character (The actor Gregory Peck's grandson, Gregory Peck is known for To Kill a Mocking Bird, which is apt because of Harper Lee's concern with social justice and race, much like Micheal is torn between that, and then some, same with Spock) and then also, Short Trek: Calypso brought "Funny Face" into the mix, but we also we know from trailers that he is shown with a beard, which is then stringing the mirror universe elements along from the first season.
