One thing I learned is to play some music in your auxiliary or in and out of an effects loop while you build tones. Because you can hear what cuts through a mix better. Put it at the end of the chain so it won't pickup all of your effects.

Perhaps the best video on HX Stomp. I've had mine for years, consider myself fairly well verse in its use, with routing and midi, but have used it primarily for time based and modulation effects versus amp modeling. This was great to help with amp modeling! Well done!

Using a different preamp pedal in the loop. Then using snapshots to switch the pedal in and out. Like a clean amp on the stomp, and a dirty preamp pedal in the loop and swapping between the 2 amps.

@@jst601well it may not even be when people are in the room, but when I first sound check and it's just me it sounds intense, but when I listen back in the context of the mix (of the whole band) it will be very subtle.

Hey Jimmy, there’s a feature for the expanse pack that I think would suit really well! For those who buy it, what if there was a submission box to request future patches and even a description and link box in case there’s a specific tone in a video they’re referring to. You could even include a file box for people to drop IRs for you to build patches around. I have a ton of acoustic IRs I own I would love to get with you on making some good patches with them for specific pickup systems!

@HeyWorshipLeader9 ай бұрын
That's great man...I'm not an expert when it comes to recording...but some of the same principles apply to sticking out in the mix and/or blending. Our tones don't need to be nearly as "Full" as we think they need to be especially when making them in isolation

if i have 2 single coils and 1 humbucker, would that be brighter? or darker?
@crocholiday7 ай бұрын
It's a trip how effects disappear in the mix. I have a hard time with how much is enough for bass distortion. I'll add some and think it's pretty gritty and aggressive. I show up to rehearsal, kick it on at a big part and knock the song upside the head with a extra soft pillow lol. As a bass player, I can't tell you with absolute certainty that you want to stay out of my frequency or I'll squish you out of the mix. If your tone sounds a little bright to you, that's probably where you want it to be to cut through the mix.

Aerospace audio makes an ambient pad pedal called Atmosphere and the HX Effects pedal has a similar feature with the (single note per foot switch) option. Question: is there any way to make the HX Effects an ambient pad pedal, like the Aerospace Audio Ambient pedal?
@HeyWorshipLeader9 ай бұрын
Yes! I actually have a couple pads versions in my EXPANSE Pack here: www.heyworshipleader.com/helix-page You switch from key to key by snapshots. The pads sound great, but I also own the Aerospace Atmosphere and those sounds are top notch

A better way to explain stereo delay and reverb is. Stereo delay will create differences between the left and right channel dependant on time settings. Stereo reverb will allow those differences to pass through. A mono reverb after a stereo delay will make all your differences between the left and right channel go away *it will sum to mono. Basically once you go stereo in any effect, all effects after it should be stereo. Of course this is only important if you are using both outputs into a left and right speakers/amps. If you are going into a single speaker then all of this is irrelevant 😂

As a sound guy, I’m always telling guitar players to turn down the reverb. It’s always a huge shapeless mess.
@CompletePandemonium9 ай бұрын
A LOT of guitarists don't realize how much effect they have going on. As a guitarist and sound guy for over forty years now I have found that the most successful solution is to offer to let the guitarist actually hear what he sounds like through the house. There's a few ways to do that but they typically respond very positively and appreciative. All guitarists want to sound their best. Sometimes they don't know that what they think they're hearing is not what's actually being heard. 😁👍

Helpful video, which is your point of making this video but why do we need to see your mug? Your face has nothing to do with the settings you are demonstrating. Might I suggest putting your edit screen on max - all of the details are already small and hard to see without being 1/4 size - considering we are most likely following along on a split screen. Just sayin'. Thanks for your efforts.
