Not quite. The iconoclasts were alright with religious images for didactic or display purposes. They were opposed to the veneration of images, viewing it as idolatry, and destroyed images insofar as they were objects of veneration. Its closer to the classical anglican and lutheran view than to the reformed or sunni view (shia are too complicated to get into in a youtube comment).
