I believe the Boogeyman is supposed to represent how Joyce felt after losing his family. Pitch is a broken man, and I believe the fearlings are meant to represent not only fear, but also depression and grief. (Think of the Dementors in Harry Potter). In completely taking over Pitch, who ALSO lost a wife and daughter, he becomes "less human" and less like his old self. I'm tired so this comment isn't going to be very articulate or eloquent, but I tried.

It would be kind of ironic that the Guardian of Unconditional Love is canonically Ace or it'd make all the sense that he'd be Pan. It'd also make sense because if he was, I'd imagine his boyfriend being Starx, Guardian of Family Values. You know, to me it really seems like William Joyce writes like a teenager. I don't mean this as a dunk on him, it's just that that's honestly the impression i get from hearing about all of the stuff he wrote about Jack in the books. I mean, there's the weird and sometimes kinda offensive insertion of real historical figures, and also writing stuff after the fact that contradicts what you already wrote... it honestly brings to mind the kinda cringy stories i'd come up with when i was a kid, or stuff from fanfiction of dubious quality. Still though, i'm sure he's a nice guy and this franchise is certainly interesting at the very least.
@Nightman221k4 жыл бұрын
It does feel like what I'd do as a new writer before getting an organized set of ideas for a story. Just "kitchen sink" everything I think would be exciting and wonderful... only it can be contradicting and I'd have to realize not everything can work and characters NEED defined traits and behaviors that must stay consistent.
@serenityfortune4 жыл бұрын
Yeah... That's certainly dunking. Not all teenagers write like that. I'm 13 and I'm pretty damn certain my writing isn't that farfetched. It's also pretty good, in my mind. But, like all writers, there's still always room for improvement.

I think kids can handle knowing how people were killed as long as it's not described in horrid detail. When I was a kid I knew Lincoln and Kennedy were shot in the head, that Caesar was stabbed to death, that 1/3 of Europe died from the Black Plague, and that millions died cruel and unjust deaths in Nazi concentration camps. Knowing these facts didn't bother me because I knew death and violence were a part of life. Learning about these deaths is about as scarring as the opening scene from Finding Nemo. Yes it's sad, but I doubt many kids got nightmares from it. You still made a good video, I just feel you underestimate how much kids can handle.

Rise of the guardians was like my favorite movie as a kid. I was like 6 when it came out and I remember seeing it in theater. Now I just keep a copy of the DvD on a shelf in my room. I just liked the story and the detail.

There are also some short comics from a storyboard artist that worked on the movie, Rufftoon. Even tho they’re not canon, they’re still pretty good, especially the ones about Pitch Black. They add something more to the story.

Thank you, Hezu. Without these videos, I wouldn't have gotten around to watching Rise of the Guardians and see why there is such a following. Also, I never thought of Ace Jack before and now I fully support it.

I'd say that Megamind and Rise of the Guardians were better off not having sequels or spin offs so they're not potentially ruined, but Dreamworks has had an amazing track record for sequels.

About Spirit I've watched it in 2018 just because of the boredom and it had some nice moments here and there, but it's just a stupid self-inserted cartoon for little girls that "i want to have a wild stallion that will understand only me and i will ride without any kind of gear on bareback and even if before i wasn't trained to ride i'm secretly better all of the ranch-farm kids!1". Want to mention that this horse is thought to be his son or something, 'cause this girl just decided to call him Spirit and i think there was never mentions of his father or mother - nice move (no)

i can at least feel bad to joyce than the other writers who created stuff to ruin childhood to no reason, literally no reason why Usagi justifies that she didn't cheat when she did: two times. Plus Naoko has Mamo as her ideal boyfriend way before she has a husband. That sounds odd.

Patron and lifelong ThunderCats fan here. To your question of "No material until the end of time, or put it into the hands of Comcast?" No material until the end of time is preferable. I'd prefer something to stand as it is, unmarred, than have it and it's legacy butchered by corporate clowns with neither creativity nor respect for the source material.

Yikes! That was A LOT of bomb shells I didn't know about behind the scenes/writing/writer of the Rise of the Guardians. I mean I've heard of historical based fictions before like Outlander but I mean this, just wow. Good research, acting and/or expressiveness, etc.

I wish there would be a sequel. It would be just so... Amazing It's a beautiful movie. It's a beautiful book series. But it's not... Remembered. It's underrated. Everyone is passing right through it. It's sad...

As someone who actually really likes Nightlight/Jack as a character and such.... I will admit that there is a l o t of stuff I consciously block from the stories. Because if a lot of that stuff was cut out, I am certain that he would be a much better character overall..... Like, no forced relationships. No need for adult Jack seen by adults and such. And absolutely nothing to do with real life figures.... Had he just made it a fantasy with loose ties to history.... Nightlight/Jack probably would have been much better received overall in the books.
