I just noticed that just because of rose quartz but rose quart but he didn't crack a gem he got her gem and he put it somewhere else and bubble it so that's why he doesn't able to form so that's why the Crystal gems bought that he was shattered even the diamonds

I feel like if more audiences had been aware of the interpretation of Magnifico representing Corporate Disney, they wouldn't have been so sympathetic towards him. One moment that I think perfectly supports this interpretation is when Asha shows Magnifico her little flipbook animation and he dismissively asks, “Do we consider that a talent?” A KZbinr by the name of Andrew Venus just released an analysis delving into this interpretation ("That Time Disney Made a Disney Movie About Disney"), and it's definitely worth a watch! I could never buy into the whole “Magnifico is actually the hero, and Asha is the TRUE villain” mentality, because it blatantly ignores how Magnifico's downfall is brought about as a result of his own actions, and how little Asha actually contributes to the plot. Additionally, Asha never demands that all wishes need to be granted, she only argues that Magnifico shouldn't be the sole authority over wishes.

King Maginfico is an…OKAY BUT BORING Villain… he’s a narcissist, were all aware of this, he only grants wishes that will benefit HIM, so if he grants Sabino’s wish then the attention is going to SABINO NOT Magnifico! As I said before King Magnifico is narcissist, narcissists will do anything in their power to the center of attention and to be the one on top…now that I think about it…King Magnifico is just Gaston…but WAY MORE narcissistic and he’s a king!

10:24 Steven has been wrong before. In the episode where Connie, Pearl amd him go into the snowy mountain to look for corrupted gems, Steven theorized that they were less corrupted than it seemed and were reverting back to human form - but all along, it was actually Jasper. He isn't omnipresent. He, just like us - the audience, can only THEORIZE based on the information he has available. There's a very good chance he could be wrong in the movie...

Would it be wrong if we had Magnifico be the disney princess instead of Asha? I'm not really being accurate either. It would be kind of funny because Magnifico being a disney princess would be like Snow White being a swing shift manager at McDonald's.

4 years late: I have my own theory that Pink Diamond can come back. Unless my other theory of the Gem being passed down happens
@nessie-from-earthbound16019 күн бұрын
5:44 The narrative and Steven can have different views on characters, and just because Steven feels a certain way about something does not not mean the narrative does or that we the audience should 6:17 I also am one of those people who disagree that the Diamonds were “redeemed” (and that the Diamonds are direct parallels to Nazis; I argue they’re more colonialists) 8:20 The consequences were having to undo everything they did 8:59 Jasper never changed her mind, she just started respecting Steven, notably in a way he did not want 9:15 Steven *proved White wrong and then pointed out she was doing exactly what she was accusing him of*, which got her to show emotion and vulnerability, what she perceived as a weakness and a flaw. He proved to her that she wasn’t flawless like she thought she was, and her entire worldview took a hit as a result. Saying “Steven fix[ed] everything with a joke” takes away a lot of the nuance of the scene. (“The Most Interesting Scene in Steven Universe” by James Woodall is a very good video about this scene, would recommend :D) 9:32 Because he poked holes in their worldview 9:53 While Pink’s shattering did lead to a change (Era 2), it also led to the corruption of gems in retaliation. Also, again, Homeworld kept up with its modus operandi of colonizing planets after her “shattering”, and didn’t stop until Steven came around. I think Pink fighting back with force was perfectly fine, but that didn’t change their minds (although I don’t she was really wanting to at that point and that she just wanted to wash her hands of them since she didn’t feel they would listen to her anymore) or dismantle their empire, while Steven did 10:05 that clip is not of Steven fixing the Kindergarden, that’s Steven regrowing plants on the cliff behind his house at the end of the movie. The Kindergarden is shown during the movie, just as lifeless as it’s always been. 12:50 I’m also gonna be that guy and ask: is that filler? Steven Universe’s episodes were not made in parallel with another media it’s adapting, they were written up wholesale by the Crewniverse. So, that begs the question: why did they give us those episodes and plotlines? What are they trying to tell us with them? Why are they showing us these character interactions? What information are they giving us with them? What themes are they furthering or setting up? Stuff like that. Are some less important than others? Yes. But, they were made with intention other than “trying to fill time”, so I don’t agree that there’s filler. 14:10 …how does the movie set up Pink Diamond’s return? Change Your Mind established that she was gone; Pink Steven literally yelled that at White, and also proved her entire point about Pink still being there wrong 14:32 This point just kind of made me stop. I mean this as politely as possible, but I think the Crewniverse *knew* that what Spinel was doing was illogical…and that that was the point. Near the end of the movie, Spinel, after beating on Steven’s shield, breaks down and says “What am I doing? Why do I wanna hurt you so bad? I'm supposed to be a friend. I just wanna be a friend.” Spinel was mostly motivated by anger, hurt, and vengeance and just wanted it to take that out on someone. Oh look! There’s the son of the person who left her and his/her friends! They might not have hurt her personally, but they represent everything she could’ve had, but didn’t. How they were chosen over her. Hell, the Earth hasn’t done anything to her either, but she still brings the Injector to destroy the organic life on Earth because Pink chose the Earth over her and she’s pissed about that. So, yes, Spinel was being illogical during the movie, but your point seems to be more “this character did illogical actions, which is bad, flawed writing, so the writers didn’t think the plot through”, which I disagree with; I think that Spinel being illogical was the whole point. It was to show how these rash actions and focus on revenge negatively affect the people around someone. Having a character do illogical things does not mean the writers did not realize how illogical their actions were. In short, I don’t really agree with a lot of the points in this video either. This video’s a little newer, but I don’t really think anyone will read this either

Long comment -Steven turning into the worm, “I Am My Monster”, was not the finale episode, it was the penultimate episode. “The Future” is the finale episode. -Steven Universe: Future is an epilogue series, not a sequel series. I point out the above because, even though they are small details, they still change the nuance slightly, enough that I feel the need to point them out. 1:10 As for time skips, you are entirely free to dislike them, though I do feel you did not ask what the writers were going for with the time skip and just dismissed it as “an excuse” to “shove plotlines” in and have characters act out-of-character. I understand that this video isn’t about time skips or even focusing on this specific time skip and its greater effects on the show or narrative or whatever, but it was frustrating to see what amounted to “time skips bad >:(” with no further elaboration presented as a criticism. For what reasons would the Crewniverse choose to put a time skip in the show? What does this accomplish? How does this affect the characters? How does moving the characters forward in time and focusing on that say for the stories and themes? What did the Crewniverse want to focus on? How does this time skip affect this show (and the movie) in particular? Were the specific clips you played your examples, or were they just clips? If so, how did they connect to those specific criticisms you levied on time skips? In short, I wish that, rather than just saying time skips do these bad things and then waving generally in Future’s direction while you were talking about that, you were specific in this criticism. A little ironically, I feel you’re asking us to fill in the blanks with that criticism (which is what you were accusing time skips of doing), rather than doing the legwork of justifying it. Again, I know this isn’t a Deep™ review, but not connecting this to Future makes it feels more like you took the opportunity to talk about your dislike of time skips rather than talk about Future itself. 2:49 While I agree that Steven was wrong here, I do feel that his perspective is also important. He’s angry and, in the heat of the moment, probably saw his dad’s life as lacking in all the stuff that was traumatizing to Steven; the monsters, gem stuff, etc. Its quaintness and structure probably seemed really appealing to him at that time since it was the opposite of what he had, and maybe, if he had that, he wouldn’t have been in the situation that he was in then. Again, I think he’s wrong here, and that he would’ve been more sympathetic if he was calmer and dealing with less. It was trauma he was taking out on his friends and family, and it’s not right that he did that, and I think that was the point. 3:23 I…feel calling all of this Steven’s “feelings of evil” is…odd? Weird? He’s having a breakdown??? He’s not evil and wasn’t becoming so??? The worm isn’t Steven’s Superpowered Evil Side (to use the TvTropes lingo)??? To me at least, it’s a personification of Steven’s emotions and trauma reaching a boiling point and how he viewed himself, taken literally. Frankly, calling him “evil” and saying he was “turning” and then “succumbed” feels shallow. 4:09 The Gems very explicitly get him away from the town immediately, by distracting him and then chaining him in the ocean. He also almost stepped on the Gems by accident and then *leaps* at Peridot and Bismuth for smacking him. I feel like you’re downplaying his aggressiveness here. 5:36 I find that scene annoying too, but…Connie literally calls them out on that? She has a whole speech about it, which you bring up right after this? It also feels really weird that you put clips of them *happily* crying in the (actual) finale here too? Like that’s not even the same episode my dude, much less the same scene, so why act like that contributing to the same thing when it’s not? 6:25 Connie *was* there and Garnet told her to leave to evacuate the townspeople; she was established to be there in a previous scene. She saw what happened to Steven and *decided to come back*, which is different than just “coming out of nowhere” 6:41 how is them saying they’ll be there for him “not useful advice”? Aside from relating to him through their own personal struggles that he helped them with (which is what was also said during that big hug) and reminding him of all the good he’s done right when he feels like he’s a fraud and a terrible person, them being there for Steven is something he’s needed for all of Future? Hello? He keeps putting people off because he feels what they’re doing is more important (his dad), that he needs reasons to talk to them (Peridot), that his feelings are ugly and bad and will hurt the people around him (Prickly Pair, Everything’s Fine). The fact that they’ll all be there despite the previous is something he really needed right then 6:52 the conflict here was “Steven is having a breakdown as a result of stress and trauma reaching a boiling point”... 7:04 …and the hug was to bring him back down from the brink, not solve all his problems. You could certainly make the argument that Steven finally gets the weight of what he went through by the end of “I Am My Monster” (and so does everyone else) though And, I do not think Steven not finding any solutions/realizations to his trauma was a bad thing. The series ends with him leaving Beach City, as you said. He’s starting a new chapter of his life. The world has become his oyster, basically; he gets the opportunity to discover more about himself, more about the world, how to deal with his trauma and past, and what his future holds for him. I feel the show’s ending is intended to pass these feelings onto the viewer. What can you do with your future? What can you learn about yourself? This doesn’t give closure in the traditional sense of a direct, complete bow on a plotline or character arc, but I argue that it’s trying to give the viewer hope for their future, too. You can keep going, like Steven. You can come back from a terrible moment, like Steven. You deserve help, like Steven. You can keep going forward, like Steven. In short, well, I didn’t really agree with your review of the ending of Future. This video is 4 years old so I doubt anyone will read this, but I suppose enjoy my ramblings fellow commenters?

The funny thing about "dumbing things down for the todders" etc, is that as a young child, my favourtie movie was Treasure Planet, and my fav character (besides Jim) was Silver. Also, some kids like the more spooky stuff? Like, kids are as smart as you let them be, give them good material, and speak to them in full sentances, and they'll be very smart very quickly. I love the movie that we got, but hearing about what could have been was a little sad

The hair stripe was only to give Varian a signature look, so when animating and drawing him in crowds he’d stand out from the crowd so others can take notice of him since many people have a similar haircut and color in the series.

My thoughts on why the chemical X antidote didn't removing Mojo Jojo's intelligence is because he really is a Joestar, lol really thou I think it was that mojo had soo much Chemical X in his system that it the antidote could only remove the overdose that he took before equalling out the antidote saving he's intelligence. I feel for Mojo in this movie, all he wants is companionship, but always being rejected by those he wants as company.

This series is just wasted potential nearly every episode is filler with all the interesting stuff either disregarded or undermined by nonsense.. 1. Eugenes past- we barely even delved into it in the show and his ad ventures as a theif at all. 2. The Barren could of been the main antagonist of season 1 and a personal one to Eugene and Eugene could of killed him, representing him putting his past behind him but no they make Varian the antagonist of season 1. 3. Zhan tiri had so much promise finally we saw her combine the sun and moon stones powers she was practically A god yet she gets knocked out with a frying pan and pulled down by hair without putting up a fight and whats worse is the facf we dont see what the sun and moonstones powers togeher in fulll glory pathetic. 4. We could of delved into Eugenes family history some more and have him face a dilemma does he inherit his father's kingdom and get everything he's ever wanted riches and glory or does he settle for the good thing he has with Rapunzel. 5. The moonstones powers are so underdeveloped. 6. Rapunzel and her parents barely even talk in the show despite not seeing their daughter since she was a baby having them reunited could of been an opportunity for Rapunzel to express to them how awful her childhood was but that never happens. 6. Cassandras villian arc had so much potential the fallen hero but it was completely undermined by bullshit why did she think mother Gothel loved her when she literally abandoned her as a child, why does she hate rapunzel, makes no sense, she only redeems herself after losing all of her powers without showing any remorse prior and in the end she just gets of Scott free if she was a victim who understood she was in the wrong and genuinely had no idea what she was doing I understand but she is literally the villian she had every opportunity to accept help from her friends and blatantly disregards it and yet we are all supposed to feel satisfied when she changed. All I feel is hatred for this character as well as the entire show seriously this show is not Canon to as soon as I finished season 3 I had to go back and watch the first movie again so I could heal from the abso loute pain that this show brought me.

You want to know what I also hate about the Varian and Cass villain difference? Varian, a KID, a 15 year old KID gets thrown in the dungeon together with a manipulator(Andrew) from Saporia (who also wants to destroy the kingdom mind you) when what he really needs is just therapy and a chance to get help and free his father. But Cass, a like 26 year old ADULT doesn’t have any consequences of her actions, like she was way more powerful and dangerous than Varian, but she went completely free to just live her life on the road or whatever. Varian did a lot of bad stuff, yes, but again, HE WAS A KID! A REALLY TRAMATIZED KID! CASS WAS AN ADULT!!!!!! I hate that…
