Just a heads up. The Xi vs Penelope kit comes with a redesigned clear flying base for both mechs. It hold Penelope a lot better. If you are looking to get both Hathaway Mechs and can find it, it’s worth it.

About narrative, yeah the core should have the kit itself, but penelope's armor is used most of the time while narrative was just like striker pack, interchangeable. I still prefer whole package of penelope than bandai makin 2 separate kit and a p bandai full kit

I personally think the Fixed Flight Unit and the Odysseus look great on their own, so to me, even if I wasn't going to display them as the Penelope, it's still getting two larger than average HG kits, which isn't so bad considering the price. And heck, even if you didn't like the Fixed Flight Unit and just wanted the Odysseus, that's a heck of a lot of kitbash material you have left over to work with. Much prefer that over them splitting the kits up.

That knob-top on the stand the Penelope came with I recognize. The MG's for Freedom 1.0, Destiny and Strike Freedom all came with stands with that type of knob--though with different bases that patterned themselves after their wings. But THOSE knob-tops all were with intent to place on them the actual adapter for mounting the figure, which was cross-compatible with action base 1's. So I'm in total agreement in it feeling like a step back, when they could have supplied a 1, 4 or 5 to set it on as some other sets have done.

Yes, outside of maybe the exception of the Perfect Zeong, or the messy qualifications of the Psycho Gundams I-II, the fixed flight Gundams are as big as mobile suits ever got, at around 32 meters. Dendrobium Orchis, Neo Zeomg and Narrative A-Pack do not count, as they are mobile suits docked with mobile armors. DAMN THE PENELOPE IS MASSIVE. Looking forward to the Xi!

Why attaching all that shit on the gundam, just have the gundam stored on the armed base like Dendrobium. Why is there a peacock head exposed for everyone to shoot at? I know I'm a bit late but, when transforming it back into the Penelope make sure the shoulders are pulled out as far as possible and that the armor on the shoulders is clipped in as far as it will go. Otherwise it won't slot together corrctly

to fix the stand may i recommend drowning it in glue. had a actionbase 1 that was floppy glue'd it at the bottom 2 bits and it became rock solid. glue'd some joints on the action base 4's as they tend to be quite side to side floppy/saggy. and wile glue was not as effective as with the AB 1 still made it better ^^

I got the Xi Gundam vs Penelope funnel set. It came with 2 clear base, one for each Gundam. But it didn't come with the old style base that this video mentioned. I kinda wish it came with it as it works for both Odysseus and the Fixed Flight unit. The clear action base I got are sturdier but it is not compatible with the Fixed Flight unit by itself. The adapter for the clear base does not fit the Fixed Flight Unit's parts former part.

@@neopada9091 Size isn't the only thing that matters. And for a lot of picky builders, aesthetics and the feel of the finished build is important. Also, the Moon Gundam does a better job of pushing the boundaries of HG than the Penelope. This kit feels more like what they tried to do with the Hashmal. It's bulky, floppy, and only really good for display, but it gets bumped from what should be silver tier overall to gundarium over UC nostalgia.

Sad it doesn't have an innerframe( full innerframe not the partial). It would help with carrying the extra weight. The 3rd party version has an innerframe( as its as big as the 1/100 RX-78-2).

If you happened to find the Penelope and Xi gundam set with the middle effects, you would find it comes with stronger, better stands for both of them, along with adapters so you can use them with other stands. But it is 200 dollars, so it may be hard to find lol. I got lucky and found it at a gunpla store in Florida.

Things you didn't mention is this kit feels super hollow meaning its definitely has big hollow plates as shown in the legs and it kind of make the kit feel cheap also those hip joints for the legs will need some reinforcing when you have the plates on it and on mine the bicep the arm kept falling off no even just lose just would fall off so i had to reinforce those as well as you mentioned

Try getting an Action Base 4 and attaching the Penelope to it without using any of the included base adapters. It looks like the included base has more or less the same size peg and the AB4 is both wider and stronger.

There is one kit that takes the gold for having the most color correcting stickers and that is the 1/144 scale no grade The Fool from Nobunaga The Fool. A grand total of 87 stickers and even following the instructions you don't use them all.
