Thank you for going through this again, HG. I understand what you say when you say it, but it's really hard to remember it when you're actually looking at the smirk. It seems so obvious that they know what they're doing, and that they have planned whatever it is that's happened, that to realise they don't is a big leap of thinking! I know that you know that, so thank you for repeating this lesson for us!

Yes, I've seen many photos of Harry's wife where she is displaying "that smirk" (whatever she wanted, she got ... Aren't they stupid❗). I saw that same smirk on the face of Ted Bundy here in Florida just before they fried him. Don't know if he was still wearing that smirk --- they didn't show pictures.

I had this problem with my mother. I eventually cut her completely off. This caused my entire family to turn against me. I just held out knowing that I know my truth and that she will do herself in. One by one my family members came around to my side. Only 1 person still talks to her.

I noticed one of my exes gave me a Joker smile in bed one day. I thought it was cringy like he was trying to look like a bad boy or something. But later on I realized he was really a narcissist or at least very narcissistic. He was really smiling because he knew he had control over me. I'm not creeped out by it, it just makes me roll my eyes because it's pathetic.

H G She was planning something with that smirk. She came to a decision on what she’s going to do during the funeral. This isn’t going to be good. So she is so happy every time someone talks about her. Unfortunately if we all stop talking about her you won’t have a channel as will a lot of others. Blessings H G

I think she was smirking because she edged her way to the FORBIDDEN LOCATION, where the Princess of Wales Would CERTAINLY be photographed, and in the space meant for the Children of the Monarch to stand - and WAY TOO CLOSE for Sophie's comfort, (the "reporters" interpret that if anyone is NEAR "the snake", it is a "friendly" gesture or an "olive branch"). HER PLACE would have been (behind the children) in with the GRAND CHILDREN: the area where Zara and Mike were standing, Beatrice, Eugenie, Peter Phillips, and so on. Her experience during the 70 or so days as a "Working Royal" taught her that ANYWHERE THAT Catherine was; would be the perfect place for her to stick her face in for a PR photo, ( she used to do that with the Queen also) as ALL eyes are on Catherine.

My mother used to smirk when she wanted to gain information about my friends. Oftentimes she would ask: “How are they, I bet their having a hard time” (Cue smirk) Or something to that effect. But, I was a young teenager & saw right through her narcissistic façade. I just noticed her behaviour & say, “Their OK” & shrug it off. She wanted fuel. I didn’t give it.

My daughter, she wanted me to be her roommate. I will refer to her as such moving forward. We been here since may 2023. Our altercation assured march 3rd, 2024. Rent was due April 1st. She did not transfer her part in time for the first time. Since our altercation, where she attacked me, slamming me to the floor, punching me in the head, slamming my head on the floor multiple, multiple times, scratching my face and digging her nails into my arm, I have gone radio silent. I waited 3 days for those funds, and was forced to ask her to transfer me her part of the rent. I was going to do so in a text but since she had a friend over and I know how important it is for her to maintain a facade, I took the opportunity to ask for the funds transfer while on my way out as I was leaving for work. When I asked her to do so, she smirked.

I used to see the ‘well I know better’ smirk when the narc had lost a logical argument and they wanted to withdraw without losing face or make you loose your temper and re engage. There was also the ‘serves you right, I knew that would happen’ smirk if you suffered a misfortune or even got physically hurt, forcing you to defend or explain yourself although you have not done anything wrong. Finally there was the ‘now look what you made me do’ smirk when they deliberately abuse you with the excuse that they’re just doing it for the greater good.

The first time I realised I was with a Narcissist was when I saw them smirk as they held me after I cried for an hour. They had gotten angry at me for having been approached by men in the past even when I had denied the advances. That's when I knew I was with someone I shouldn't be with. I had seen HG's videos earlier when I suspected a friend of mine who loved belittling our friend group member for laughs was a narcissist and we cut her off. Now whenever they plays this trick of being angry because of something minor I completely ignore them till they decide they are over their anger. The lack of supply and response from me has made them hit me and kick me on my back. But I continue to not give them any response and fuel. I hope I get out of this situation and stay out.

Thank you for this. There is a doctor at my GP surgery who I first worked with as a nurse. He always made me feel uncomfortable with what I now know was a smirk when I asked him to do something. I couldn't ignore him as my patient needed investigation/treatment. Now he is at my GP surgery and one of the group of GPs I go to. I try to avoid him as he makes me feel so uncomfortable. So, thanks again for enlightening me as to why he smirks like that. I've met people before who do this and next time I will know what is going on.

I’m learning so much from your channel. I deliberately put a slightly surprised/bemused look on my face in an encounter with a lesser/mid range, unaware narc; they wanted their false narrative to be accepted at face value, it was challenged and it sent them off the scale. It revealed to everyone else present their true nature/intentions.

I saw this smirk from my son's ex outside the courtroom last Monday, in the courtroom, she stood behind a screen reading her statement, all lies. she made him out to be a real monster. unfortunately, my son worked and couldn't afford the Barrister fees nor get legal aid and the police had his telephone that had all the evidence that would prove his innocence. she did and said all the things H G said she would even the suicide attempt when my son finally left her! He's got two years in prison for his first offence and he's 28 I couldn't believe it she was so convincing and to be honest, if I didn't know for a fact they were lies she told I too would have believed her. so please please if you are living with a narcissist get as much evidence you can to prove what they are before you leave.

This makes so much sense the exnarchubby couldn't stop smirking when I was divorcing him,he did so much to me calling social services,my car was always faulty,he stalked harassed me permently, dragged so many people into it,alienated our sons from me,and other family,he had his new girlfriend bait me after months of snide comments, being in my house when I was in hospital he smashed up all my stuff,,it was a full scale war,I was fighting back which I now realize was the worst thing to do,I remember him leaving the pub driving past me and there was that SMIRK! Little did he know my solicitor was waiting at his girlfriend's house ,(he kept saying I was crazy and I didn't even have a solicitor) ready to serve non-molestation papers,I remember thinking I'm going to wipe that SMIRK right of your face,10 mins later I had the phonecall he was served and he was not happy,lock doors windows phone police if needed that was 18 years ago I'll never forget it,I didn't see the smirk from him again.to this day if I see someone smirk I have nothing to do with them

Oh yeah. I have never seen in-depth coverage of the importance of facial expressions and how the narcissist weaponizes them, then does the "Huh?" thing - "Hey, did *_I_* say anything?" My sister mastered the sharply-raised eyebrow, the half-humorous, half-appalled "ARE YOU CRAZY?" look, the puzzled frown when I tried to express anything important, the dramatic falling face of disappointment (making you wonder "what did I DO?"), and let's not forget the weary and/or exasperated *_phhhhhhhhhh_* through the lips (look how great I am to tolerate nonsense like this!) - total dismissal, verging on a raspberry. We could also do gestures, but it's too painful to think about right now.

I readily recognize the smirk now, as a consequence of your information. Another tell, that I have noticed, when the narcissist is on the receiving end of a good dose of fuel, they go very still and quiet...and if you watch, sometimes it appears like they are savouring the sensation that is washing over them. This would be, possibly, when they are on the receiving end of a blast of anger. I suppose it must be the feeling of power.

That smirk…I recognised that he was enjoying this provocation and ashamed to say gave way too much fuel a brief change in pitch and body language, gave him a few words but then quickly moved away. I was prepared to completely disengage but I was too slow (emotional thinking), an assertion of control via digital communication was launched by him a faux apology/but also blaming me a “sorry I can’t be myself around you I was joking let’s leave it here message” I agreed and subsequently blocked him. After a few days he realised I wasn’t going to run back as I previously hadn’t spent more than 4 days not speaking so amazing supply, the triangulation and dirty looks ensued I acted like he didn’t exist and after sometime whenever he saw me his eyes would dart down to the floor.

Hi HG, What would be the underlying root cause for an Narcissist assert and control? Is it fear of abandonment Trauma hence operating consciously/unconsciously to feel in control in an obscure way to ultimately feel safe? l
@judywright4241
@judywright4241 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think they have the insight on the underlying cause of real narcissists. If you grow up with one, it’s disconcerting all the time, you’re always wrong even when you hurt because of their words or behaviors. My mother was sexually abused by her grandfather -told me that when she was denying my memory of MY twenty years when I should believe hers of fifty years! The give away was this sentence in that confrontation ‘The other girls never complained about it like YOU have!’ And I quietly said ‘I never said anything about what they suffered, just myself’ Whatever trauma starts narcissism, at the heart is denial of anyone else’s perception or that we even matter. Not everyone is a total narcissist, many just have tendencies towards a lack of empathy, imitate feelings (and we WANT TO BELIEVE ITS REAL) think everyone else are inferior and stupid.
