HGTV Barnwell Hometown Takeover Entry

Here's the video that was submitted about the City of Barnwell for HGTV's "Home Town Takeover" contest.
Barnwell dentist Craig Wix did an excellent job narrating, filming and editing the video. So many other local residents played a part in the process as well.
Small towns across America were invited to submit videos about why their hometown needs a makeover.
The winning town will receive a visit by Ben and Erin Napier, who are the hosts of HGTV's "Home Town" show, and receive a makeove!r of historical architecture, homes, other buildings and public spaces. The work will be featured on the special "Home Town Takeover" series.
We hope Ben and Erin select Barnwell!

I like to watch Home Town and Fixer Upper. They're both of my favorite shows on HGTV. I'm not from Barnwell, but I've heard a lot of great things about it. I'm from Yemassee, SC (that's 2 counties away from where Barnwell is). I hope that Barnwell gets picked soon.

Me too Dante. Thanks for your support. We didn’t get picked first time around but looking forward to making a new video and resubmitting it to the show. They have just announced 6 more towns will be restored in the future. The first town has been restored. I love my town of Barnwell but the town who won it was not only destroyed and bounced back from flooding but soon after their restoration was also destroyed by 2 tornadoes. They deserved to win first go round by Ben and Erin. Stay tuned…

What a wonderful and educational video that even I did not know about all the history that this town that my husband grew up in and talks about all the time! I’d love to see a makeover to bring life back into this beautiful historic community! My prayers and blessings go to you all!

Wow .. what a beautiful little town....that needs Ben and Erina touch....the historical heritage needs to be preserved and who better to do that then a couple who are doing that yo their own Hometown!!!!! PLEASE do this little town...we live across the country and would love to see the end result of this town getting not only a face lift...but history saved. Great job to the people who put togathe r this subbmission!!! We hope you get it...you have our family of 8 votes!!!😊

@@wixflicks1115 I think you should somehow send Ben and Erin via their store in laurel the responses your getting off your you tube site. Remember the squeak wheel gets the oil.....try to get as many people in you town to watch your um you tube site and leave a comment!!! The more views.....it might just go viral!!!!! @@wixflicks1115 Another thought is to rally the troops (people in your town). Have them get everyone they know (friends, relatives , anyone), to watch your you tube site wixflicks on Barnwell and to please leave a comnent !! Try to get people far and wide to give up just a few minutes of their time to watch this... to see if this can go viral!!! Man I will get people I know to watch it too. I just watched another town's submission but it paled in comparison to what you did!! Your town has so much historical value, I wish I could go before them to sell them on the idea!!! Keep letting HGTV know that you want this.....send them flowers one week from the People of Barnwell and have people from town all sign the card (large card I know 😊) then send them a box of nice chocolates the next week ... (might not hurt to send the same thing to Ben and Erina too !! Show them that the people of Barnwell want this and are excited about this ...so they will firmly have Barnwell on their mind!!!!! Just my two cents, but I would really like your town to win this makeover!!!! 😊 Blessings!!!

Yes it is. When I obligated myself as producer of this video is when I was introduced to the show. Ben and Erin’s love for their hometown is infectious. It has created much renewed pride in every town that has entered the contest. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Hopefully this video will make a difference for my hometown.

Super Phone 😂. I think the coronavirus takeover postponed the hometown takeover. I truly believe this is what is holding things up. It’s driving me nuts too. My whole family has way too much time on our hands. My wife and I are only seeing emergencies in our dental practice. We are sitting home helping our kids get through massive amounts of homework. I hope HGTV will tease it with promos so people will be tuned in for the announcement. If I hear something, I’ll put it up here for you to see. Thanks.

One Tbsp . In smoothie, over toast...in morning...one Tbsp. at lunch over salad... and one Tbsp. over your dinner....will help protect your family. Do Not take more then one Tbsp. If you want to help this town help open a methadone/addiction treatment center and help bring jobs here that's our two major problems in this town the opiates pain pills and heroin runs rampent in barnwell county I grew up here and lived here for 22 years we need real help here as there is no help for the drug issues our people and families are dying here because there's just no help and people here can't go to Aiken or Orangeburg everyday then turn around and drive back it's not possible or affordable for most here

The "God Father of Soul Music " James J. Brown was Born in Barnwell 1933, ( Dont thing racism is gone just because they show a few black and white kids playing together )

I live here they portrayed this town in a good light but the reality is there's no jobs here and 90% of the people here are on drugs it's very bad and there's no help available within the whole county you'll have to drive a hour or more to get help then drive back it's very sad nothing here stay away from this evil sad place

Do you watch hometown? I used to love this show and thank Erin and Ben or incredible. Do you think it's kind of odd that they are in Alabama now who has a Democrat governor when the governor of Mississippi is a Republican. It's by design that they made these two incredible people show Gateway democrat-run state. I support them but I cannot support the show so I no longer watch it due to the Democrat take over of their show

I would hope they moved with Hometown Takeover where they are fixing up that whole town in one season. Probably demands them to be there for a year. Not sure if it was for those reasons. I know they are conservative Republicans but you’re correct in that the entertainment industry would try to pull a move like this.
