"It's good for strengthening the mind" and it's one of the few things I decided to do to help myself get out of a deep depression/autistic burnout, back in 2016. I first took a whole month off for vacations, then I came back and established a clear schedule of getting up at such time, having breakfast at this time then lunch and dinner... And I used household chores as an anchor to rebuild my ability to actually start tasks and see them to the end, thus rebuild my self-esteem at the same time. It may be silly and it may not work for everybody, but it did for me, it gave me enough strength to finish my Master degree and move on with my life.

Years ago when I was 19 I had been suicidal, My dad and my sister and I had taken on a new condo construction clean after the construction workers were finished. We underbid the job of cleaning about 50 units but I must say this got me out of my deep depression and it has never come back. Cleaning is definitely therapeutic. I could watch Rajiv do anything. He's just so dang cute and articulate and not afraid to try anything. I love this!

I love this. I grew up in a hoarder house, infested with cockroaches and rats. I made sure to move out after hs. When I moved out, I read everything about the psychology behind hoarders and how children are affected. I read all about being minimalist, living simply, and how to clean like a housekeeper. I love watching and learning ways to deep clean.

When I was at home, my mom did a spring cleaning each year. The mattresses came off and taken outside to sun. While that was happening, she cleaned the bedsprings. Yep, back in those days, the bedsprings were open. Each speck of dust was gone afterward. She cleaned the windows, sills, top of each window and door along with the molding around the bottom of the floor All of the winter clothes were changed out for spring clothes. In the kitchen the fridge was cleaned inside and out with baking soda. The oven was cleaned. You get my gist. Nothing in our home went untouched. It was a great feeling afterward. I never thought of it as a brain workout. Mom always said that people might be poor but soap and water went a long way to making one feel rich ..I enjoy your channel. Wish that you did more.

Very true. My grandmother lived in rural Mexico and was criticized by her neighbors for evening out the dirt around her house with her broom. She was always cleaning. Rich people can have dirty houses and tons of clutter because of bad habits like shopping 🛍️ for fun instead of when you actually need something.

Dear Rajiv, this video brought back memories of my childhood. Being 100% Italian, we loved to clean everything in my home. Every Saturday the routine was to strip the sheets to be washed, and while that was being done, sis and I were to get busy washing the floors in the bedrooms. Yes, and on hands and knees, we went at it. I loved the way the floor looked after the washing, so shiny and smelling so good. Today it's hard for me to perform this chore (79 years young). When you took out the coverlet, I was smiling ear to ear, it was beautiful. Yellow and grey, such a happy combination of color. The whole room exploded, with happiness. Thank you so much, Jersey Ann from NJ

I love a physical deep cleaning. In my culture we believe the home is alive; there's a spirit to the home that comes directly from the energy you project into the space. So when you surround yourself with good intentions and deeds, like resolving fights, cooking healthy foods, laughing and yes, deep cleaning, your home is receiving that energy and essential giving it back to you. I make a point to talk to my home and things that live with me, thanking them and adding a sense of gratitude for what I have. I love so much that you resurfacing the importance of home keeping and its psychological benefits. Keep it up and I'll keep watching and wishing you well. BTW- do you have tips for cleaning your mattress?

I like to sprinkle baking soda all over the mattress, you can add a drop or two of essential oil of your choosing, lavender is very calming. Leave it on for an hour or so to absorb odors and release the oil if you choose to add it. Then give it a good vacuuming, I usually do this twice, then make your bed the Rajiv way😊

One thing: for my old-fashioned mother, "deep-cleaning" always involved washing the walls. Getting a broom, wrapping a damp cloth around the head, and wiping the walls and ceilings with it gathers up the dust in the texturing. It also scoops up those fine spider webs you only see when it's sunny inside. Integral part of every spring.

So awesome. I started hand washing my floors on mushrooms during a dark time in my life and never looked back. Bucket and mop get dirty instantly and never quite clean anything. Hand washing the floor has a unique satisfaction to it that you described perfectly. I thought I was the only one who found it incredibly mentally freeing to physically and figuratively clean an entire surface with your own body and effort.

You’re right, that’s how I wash my floors. It takes time and effort but it’s very rewarding. As you said, bucket and mop gets dirty too fast, towels get dirty too but that’s when I head to wash it in the bathroom and come back with it super clean and do it all over again. Takes more time but in the end the floors sparkle. No left residue from the detergent, like washing and rinsing the dishes properly type of way.

@Oatskii
@Oatskii Жыл бұрын
@@celeste-236 There are a few wonderful types of mushrooms that exist and when you eat them, you begin to feel very strange. You begin to feel alive in ways you have never experienced before. You may laugh at everyday occurrences or cry for no reason at all. You may view your pain and trauma in new ways that you hadn’t thought of. You may begin to understand love, connection, and virtue in much deeper ways. You realize that there is no difference or separation between you and your neighbor, or your enemy. They even believe it is curing sicknesses of the mind that no doctor could see with a microscope. It’s called psilocybin, and *it’s so good, it’s illegal.*

Full disclosure: I know how to clean thoroughly. I love the way my home feels when it's really clean. BUT: Did I do it as often as a should, and on top of that with joy?! This is the gift Rajiv has given me: A companion with whom to clean, who imparts joy in the chore. Now, tackling a different room in the house every day, and doing it with Rajiv by my side. Thanks Rajiv!

Pretty similar to my deep cleaning methods! Only suggestions I have would be to slightly dampen the dusting rag to ensure the dust sticks, and also to use a HEPA vac on the floors to trap the finest dust. Good tips you gave to use a white rag to see the collected dust, and to always clean from top to bottom!

This video made my day. I have AND envision frequently the need to bring my hardwood floors to a clean finish on an annual or even semi-regular basis. I too use a wood floor cleaner. I get down on my hands and knees at nearly age 70 to perfect this. I don't rush myself during this process either. I play my favorite music scores... Burt Bacharach for example.. and make this a task of love. I reward myself with a simple dinner and a glass of sparkly after all is completed. Thank you for your marvelous video. It is to be celebrated!!!

Rajiv you are such a gem! How we deep clean is similar. In the Philippines where I grew up, we never used vacuums to clean the floor. What we had were brooms made of tiger grass. My mom would always comment how I clean our floor with it so well. I don't really have access to that where I live now but I would definitely get some if I get to travel back home. Also, in the province where the floors were mostly just cement (tiles weren't really a thing there before) we'd use coconut shells to polish them.

Deborah, what an unbelievable kind & generous gesture - the coverlet is superb.... & the cap. The painstaking & patient labour that went into its creation, unsurpassed. Rajiv, they say that what we give freely to the world comes back to us tenfold, not that this was your motive in creating Deborah's company logo. This is love personified & this coverlet definitely deserved a clean room. I clean mine when changing the bedlinen & take a shower that evening.
