Walked into a retro toy store "near" me. And I saw this kit...... grabbed their ladder. Put it up. And climbed up to the top. (Much to the shock of the employee's) and pulled this off the shelf. I didn't even hesitate, didn't care of the price. I NEEDED that model.

It’s interesting how the older kits were engineered back then as opposed to the modern day ones. I have a couple of year 2000 MG Nu Gundam kits which contain the die cast metal ankles and waist joints, metal screws, and mesh tubing. Very different to the all plastic 2012 Nu Ver.Ka and the more recent 2019 RG Nu. Bandai has come a long way. I imagine if Bandai ever makes a Dendrobium 2.0 or an RG, it would be an even more insane kit.

I wanted this kit back in the day when it was new as well, but the price was pretty steep. I still want it but I have the same problem. lol. REallly looking forward to the build and review for it. Now if only there was a release of the best of the monster MA's, the Neue Ziel.

It's pretty much an oversized weapons platform if you think about, construction should be simpler than the neo zeong but that was already very simple since they omitted the arm track gimmick for just fixed positions

I was lucky enough to find this kit at my local hobby store like 2 years back. Knew I had to pick it up when I saw it. Haven’t seen one in the wild since. I was so happy, and it’s definitely is a show stopper. It’s massive, but elegant. Hope you enjoy the build like I did!

I was lucky to grab one back in 2020 for my birthday. Had my eye on it since it came out. It was fun to finally build it. Its not that long of a build but its a TON of fun. My advice is to not put the screw caps on until AFTER you are done painting it.

I have the kit 😁 yes it's massive ( 97cm long) mostly the mega particle cannon as wide as the meteor unit ( surprisingly not as wide as the nightingale ) Zak's correct in saying that you NEED shelf space mines along side my meteor unit, narrative A pack and E type GN arms 😶 they take the whole top of a unit facing forward ( imagine how long a shelf is needed if displayed lengthwise 🤔"at least one and a half doors worth"🤣) I wanted one since I saw it at gundam front in 2014 I was lucky enough to get one along side the PG 78 unleashed when it came out 😭my poor wallet that day 💴💴💴💸but worth it 🤗 maybe one day I'll get around to painting it 📛 decals might be customised unless I can source a decent set for the model

It's one of the main pieces of my collection and I think you're wrong about the armor it's extremely detailed like a old PG the only downside is the little gp03 inside wich is why I replaced it with the robot damashii

It’s got lots of detail on the outside yes, my point is that there’s not much part separation among that detail. Which is normal for an HG, especially of that time

I love that, but it would be niche and holy cow expensive for Bandai to 2.0 to current HG. The pricing would be ridiculous. It would be epic to see it done current HG standards, but I can perfectly see why Bandai never did 2.0 despite how old it is.

I've always wanted them to do a 2.0 of the Orchis. With how big the hobby's gotten since the original release, I'd love to see how they'd improve the engineering. Plus you know damn well they'd sell the Gundam and the Orchis seperately nowadays which alone would sell me personally.

The only issue I had with mine was some of the larger parts did not perfectly fit due to warping. I was able to heat them up in water and get them back into shape though.

I've built a number of BIG CHONK BOI kits since I first got into the hobby, but this has remained on my wishlist. I keep telling myself to take the plunge, but always psyche myself out. :/ I remember looong ago a Japanese modeler chronicled on Twitter his attempt to scratchbuild a 1/100 Dendrobium to go with the MG kit. I didn't follow it for very long (IIRC I was following it through Gundam Eclipse or HobbyFanatics or some other now-defunct discussion forum, and as the forum died down so did the updates) but it was damn impressive either way and I've always wondered if he finished or not. The last resounding image I have was of it taking up basically an entire Japanese bedroom. Phew.

Glad you got one. Also from my experience with this kit the barrel does have a bad seem line. But it is so worth it if you can get one and have room cause it's a nice statement peice.

It's not that bad to build just remember to paint it first before screwing it together as trying to get the lugs out that hide the screws can be difficult just factor in the 97cm length add at least 30/40 cm height if using the base ( it's actually quite stable on there) I considered doing something like that but don't have any room for it 😭had the same reaction with the studio scale millennium falcon which is bigger than my bicycle wheels without the mandibles 😶

Looking forward to seeing it all built up. As someone who finds mobile armors uninteresting because they aren't really posable, is the main appeal of this kit just that it's big? I think something like the mega scale Unicorn is much cooler but that's just me.

I've got both kits the unicorn is impressive ( same as the Rx 78 mega) the orchis has some posable parts like the container weapon pods and parts of the arms that hold the beamsabers yes it's big 97cm long while not as posable as both the GN arms or narrative A-pack it looks great overshadowing my collection along side the nightingale , what's great about the hobby is from petits SD HG RG MG PG everyone gets what is to their taste ( or pocket) while enjoying seeing the rest 🤫I get all scales including haros then again I've been building since the 80's with what's now called first grade non grade 1/144-1/100 kits I love them all

Yes, I know that there is a HG 1/144 GP-03 sold by itself and it comes with a none transformable core fighter. The only thing that I’m still wondering is if it’s a different kit or a slightly redesigned model kit.

If I remember correctly, the Gundam wiki states that the GP03 Dendrobium Gundam is slightly different than the standalone GP03 Gundam. Can you make a comparisons between the two version of the GP03?

Bandai kits are sooo overrated. Outrageous prices, cheesy, dated designs stuck on a loop for the last 40 years, toy-like circus colours, and worst sin of all : huge, flat, boring surfaces with no details whatsoever. I seriously don't understand why they are considered the industry leader when any other brand, koto, goodsmile, wave, hasegawa, blows them clear out of ther water.
