I LOVE the traditional Halloween theme. The first year I went everything was the Walking Dead and it's nice to see an original approach.

Last year I went to HHN and wasn’t able to do anything when I got here! I got in line for the Texas Chainsaw house and then got extremely sick. Found out it was because I had Sun poisoning really badly. So the remainder of the time I had to be in a wheelchair. They gave me and my mom a free ticket to come back any year we’d like though! I was hoping I could come back for HHN 31, but money is tight this year.

We’ve been watching your vlogs from the UK and we really enjoy them! We’re making the trip to The US For the last week of Oct and we will be first timers at HHN as we’ve got tickets for 2 nights. We’re staying at cabana bay so hoping to do stay and scream but have no idea how this works. We’re taking our son who’s 14 so any tips on getting the most out of these nights with a teenager?

It primarily depends on how "mature" your son is. Some of the houses can get REALLY intense and pretty graphic, so they might be inappropriate for a 14 year-old. You could read reviews of the houses once HHN is in swing, but there's nothing like experiencing them in-person, so any written review will be very lacking. Even the less gory houses can be really frightening and often get rock-concert loud. I'd watch house walkthrus from last year and make a decision based on them, keeping in mind that you've got to multiply the experience once personally inside any given house. All the walkthrus will be from Hollywood houses since Florida doesn't allow photography, but our houses are similar.

@@katherinedurrans5917 The video walkthrus are, without a doubt, just a taste of the in-person experience. It really is the chasm-like difference between watching a rock concert on TV versus actually being there. About the only thing you can do is go through a house first yourself, then make the decision for your son. If he has any phobias or triggers, the houses will 100% bring them out. One thing that I forgot to mention is the live show. It's VERY adult, with all the performers wearing kink/fetish style outfits (think Magic Mike with the addition of equally sexy women, but without the nudity). There are videos of last year's show on KZbin that I would watch before letting your son see it. Other than that warning, last year's live show was a blast and a definite recommendation. I might even see it over a house if you're short on time.

@@Thousandeyes85 Loooooong. If you plan to attend on the 2nd, I'd get there at least 2 hours before general rope drop. I made a beeline to the back houses when I went on opening and, even though I was fairly close to the turnstiles, the house lines were already saturated. It also rained like the park was under a mini monsoon, so prepare for that. UPDATE - opening night is sold out for single event purchases.

What houses do you think we should do at rope drop if we do stay and scream? I’m curious as to what the best “plan” is for tackling the houses!

The general tactic is to do the back houses first, then migrate over to the front houses while keeping one eye peeled on the wait times as provided by the mobile app. However, with Scream Early, I'd do the most popular houses first, no matter where they're located. The most intricate houses are typically in the soundstages, so you could also target them first.

@@jsswdr1977 If you have a Scream Early ticket, ask a TM where the nearest Stay & Scream area is. If you gun it and don't get sidetracked by standing in line for food and whatnot, you should be able to do ALL the houses, even if you don't have an express pass. Just make sure you keep moving and triage everything so that, if one line looks to be exceedingly long, try another house line. Also consult the mobile app, but don't take the wait times it reports as absolute gospel; instead, use it as a general guide. If you manage to do all the houses, make sure to see the live show at the last performance of the night, as it's worth it. It's also a great chance to get off your feet for around 30 minutes. The lagoon show is nice, but I wouldn't put it on your must-do list.
