You may be the only second mechanic I have ever seen using a drum brake gauge. I have never used one and adjusted them the old way, Good video. I still like the old style of brake shoe clips. Much easier to work with.

Thanks Duke! I did not feel Like laying underneath and decided to make things a bit easier. Besides, I hate fighting those rubber plugs that refuse to go back in sometimes.

thanks for the video just getting ready to do the rears on our 2007 HHR, that was very helpful. I have that drum brake adj. tool I picke up many years ago for buck, may try it for the first time. Can I remove and install the horse shoe spring with out the tool?

Thanks ED! If I did not have this tool I would have used my best vice grip locking pliers on the spring and some muscle power. Probably get a good bite on the spring with the pliers and use a small pry bar to pry it back, maybe at the same spot where the pliers are clamped. Then I believe the shoe will drop down and you can relieve the spring tension and proceed to do the same to the other shoe...so I believe.
