How to test your C8 eRay 0-60mph | Uncovering the Truth

The C8 eRay is an absolute AWD monster, the new standard I believe! But there's been a lot of folks saying it can do crazy 2.1 0-60mph times which had me thinking, "How are they timing it?". Well most rely on their digital dash timer, which I don't believe is the most accurate way to truly know your 0-60mph. Last thing you want to do is start claiming some unrealistic numbers and then someone eats your lunch. What's best is using other more accurate ways to time, and then doing a comparison. This is exactly what this video is about, to find out what my 0-60MPH is using what most call the "new" standard in stats timing, the Dragy.

Taking rollout into account, a 2.8 is right around Chevy's claimed 0-60, so pretty good stuff. I'm wondering how on earth people were setting similar times on an unprepped surface and still getting similar tires. I saw one the other day that was on all-seasons and an unprepped road surface that still ran a 2.1 on the onboard timer. Car and Driver managed a 2.7 w/VBox on a "street" surface, Edmunds got a similar 2.8 on an airport runway, and Hagerty somehow got a 2.4 (rollout subtracted) and 10.4 quarter on a racetrack with the carbon fiber wheels. It just seems to hook and go.

So glad you did this. I believe the Dragy over the digital dash just based on your quarter mile times from your previous video' s with the Eray. If I remember correctly the Eray did a 10.7 with drag radials and you got a 10.4 with the Z06 with drag radials.

I'd like to make a suggestion . I noticed you launch immediately after the rpm rises to 4K . In my Nissan GTR letting the 4000 rpm hang for a few seconds greatly improved my launch.

I can't remember, but I think one of those timers gives you a 1 ft roll out? Does the dragy have a 60 ft timer also? If it does, and the car's timer has a 60 ft timer also, that would be a number to cross check with the tracks timer. I have a dragy, I just can't remember... Did you mention your full quarter mile times, and trap speed? I should watch the whole video before I ask a question like that LOL

They aren’t in competition so you can’t say one is better than the other.

Have you considered the weight differences on the Erays running faster 0-60 times, such as the wheels, the weight of the driver, how much gas was in the car etc? That might make a difference in 10ths of a second if the Eray was lighter.

Yes all that makes a difference but every eRay has reported 2.1 0-60 on their digital dash, and I’m showing what it really should be through another data reader

@@jesse_iwuji This was proven back with the 2020 C8. Many C8 Owner tests showed the GM marketing numbers are bloated. When caught, GM came clean and said since most auto rags when testing use more like a rolling 5-60 MPH test You would expect with 60% or more weight on ass end and summer only tires the 0-60 would be good, but GM just had to BS marketing without stating the numbers are rolling and not off the line to 60 MPH and not stating so in owner's manual

​@@mikemiller4097 With the Stingray and the Z06, it seems to account for 1ft rollout which has unfortunately become an industry standard due to its use at drag strips. Dragy times on the C8 and Z06 were usually 0.2-0.3 seconds off the PDR, occasionally a tenth or two optimistic over that, but the E-Ray times I'm seeing have all been significantly lower than the Dragy so I'm wondering if it's hitting an accuracy issue or if it's just over-correcting or overly optimistic. 5-60 is a different test made up by Car and Driver to measure engine lag, although in cars like the E-Ray it actually increases time by over half a second due to taking launch control out of the equation.

Z06 will be faster for both….. the E-Ray will get out of the hole a little quicker but the Z06 will reel it in. We are doing track day with our Z06 and C8Nates E-Ray soon so everyone can see results

This content looks familiar 😊. The Dragy is tested 1000’s of times against time slips. Anyone who knows anything understands the Dragy is the most accurate timer and the on board timers are not even close to accurate. I hit you back on IG about meeting up for a race after you out out that call out. I would be down for a meet up and running the cars.

And the video I posted over a week ago proves it. We did this and disproved those times well before this came out and we used a dragy on three separate E-Rays. On board timers are no where near accurate enough! Dragy is the standard and they are EXTREMELY accurate.
