Father Mark was a seminarian and then a deacon at our parish and we had the privilege of watching him be ordained. He has truly been called to serve God and he lives out that calling each and every day. You have all been greatly blessed having Father Mark lead you in your faith journey... especially the children and teens. Our kids definitely had an excellent role model for their faith in Father Mark.

This is really the only benefit of our shepherds closing the churches and encouraging "spiritual Communions" while they let fear dictate their faith and actions, rather than Almighty God. The Catholic faithful, out of necessity, have discovered some truly refreshing and truth-telling priests. We are being fed by the likes of Fr. James Altman Fr. Robert Altier, Fr. Richard Heilman,, Monsignor Charles Pope, Fr. Jeffrey Kirby, et al . . . and NOW, add Fr. Mark Bernhard to that list! Hold fast during these challenging times dear priests. We need strong Catholic families who come to church weekly as a family. This is sadly lacking in my small church. The parents don't go so therefore the children don't, even though they all attend Catholic highschool and elementary school.

I first met Father Mark after he was ordained and appointed to Our Lady of Mercy in Aurora. It was clear from the start of his priestly ministry that he was going to be a special priest. I remember looking around church when he preached and saw all the young people paying close attention to him and what he was saying. That was amazing. Fr. Mark looks so young and the young people of your parish will be attracted to him and listen to what he says. That’s a very special gift he has. Congratulations Fr Mark and God bless you! It’s rare these days to hear priests like you preaching Christ as the center of our lives.
