Is an Architectural Technologist only limited to buildings? Can they also be involved in road designs, bridges, water structures, sewer networks and pavements. Or the latter is more designated to Civil Enginneers & Civil Engineering Technologists?
@lukecullen95604 жыл бұрын
Hey! So I’m in my final year in college doing a HNC in Construction and Built environment Level 4, I’m hoping to go be an architect technician in May! I’m hoping to get some work experience in the mean time but because of COVID it’s been tricky! Hope you two are doing well and enjoy your course!

Hi Luke! Nika did the same course in Northamptonshire! How is that going? Do you have any more experience in the industry or are you planning to become an apprentice? As far as we are aware some practices are looking for work placementeers so keep on looking! Also, keep us updated.

@@spillingtheat5831 Hey! yeah it's been alright thanks! so I'm nearly finished now just got a few more assignments coming up then should receive my Diploma! I've been searching for for some work experience with some contacts in the fields, but it's been tough because of the lockdown and covid restrictions! So I'm hoping to search for some work as a Junior Architect Technician as I've seen some being advertised around my radius but obviously trying to get my CV up to the standards these companies are wanting! Hope all is well with you two and enjoying your course! how are you getting on with using CAD, Revit etc that's what I'm trying to focus on while college is being restricted to just studying from home, Also if you know any good books to recommend that would be muchly appreciated :)

@@lukecullen9560 Hi, sorry this comment got lost somewhere. We hope your studies are still going well? Have you had any success on finding some work placements? Final year is definitely keeping us busy! But it's going very well, thank you. By book recommendations, do you mean technical guidance or more architectural advice books?

@@spillingtheat5831 Not a problem, busy times! yeh studies are going well they’ve kind of picked back up again obviously still studying from home still but hoping to get back into college at Easter, I’ve just manage to gain some work experience but it’s not entirely the route I want to go down but it’s just good to get my foot in the doors with some work, any books really I’ve noticed I’ve not been doing much reading recently so it would be good to pick up some books ☺️

What is different between Bachelor of Architecture and Architecture technology (in terms of cource,studio,etc..)
@spillingtheat58314 жыл бұрын
Hiya, we hope you are okay? We aren’t too sure about how to answer this. As everything we know about architectural course is from someone or some videos on KZbin. BSc Architecture is more design based and you’d learn architectural history etc. Where A.T. Is technical and we aren’t as focused on design, design is still important thing to consider tho. We can imagine that the studio space would be similar. At our uni Architectural course is starting this year so we might be able to answer this in more detail in a future video. Of course with the pandemic going on it’s going to look so much different than it would beforehand. Would you be interested in watching a full video about all the differences between Architecture and Architectural Technology?

@spillingtheat58314 жыл бұрын
Hi! We hope you are well! Yes. As Architectural Technologists we design buildings but also we are to make sure that the building performs as well as possible by choosing how the main building elements are built and how the buildings are finished. We hope this helps!

Question? Can someone after finishing A.T degree transfers to get masters in Architecture design?
@spillingtheat58314 жыл бұрын
Hiya, Architectural Technology is a course that can also be called Architectural Design and Technology (just like our at Cardiff Met) which includes a little bit of design basics but it's still mainly technical. Saying that, to be a good Technologist you should have at least basic knowledge on design basics, that's why a lot of AT courses include design modules. Do you mean an Architectural Design course or Architecture? To study a masters in a certain degree you usually have to graduate from the undergraduate scheme in said course. That also depends where you are studying or applying, the safe bet would be to email the course programme director and ask because that can differ depending which uni you have in mind.
