Hipoints are great guns for the money. I bought one when I was a young husband/ father with two toddlers and low income. Just bought a new Hipoint 45 JHP yesterday. Like it a lot. Neighbor I had 20 years ago killed a home invader with a Hipoint .380. He was HUGE and she was tiny. Worked. They are tools like a fire extinguisher . Dont need the best tool made to do the job. Better cheap gun in hand than savings in bank for a Glock etc.

I can't say enough good things about mine. I've had it for 10 years now. It needed NO "break-in" at all ... worked flawlessly right out of the box. Hollow-point, FMJ, Steel (it's like the gun was made for steel case lol), it eats everything but aluminum ... It finally bent the firing pin (bad case on one round?) somewhere about the 1,200 round mark ... I managed to bend it back by hand with a pocket knife, and it kept working the rest of the day lol :P I contacted customer support and they sent me a new firing pin immediately. BECAUSE of the pot-metal it's made out of, it is VERY rust resistant. So my JHP-45 is my glove-box companion everywhere I go ... take it out at the range once ever few months to stay proficient with it, rack the slide a few times, and make sure it's lubed, and it's good to go! Honestly, if 27 rounds of .45 ACP doesn't solve whatever problem you encounter on the daily commute, nothing will.

My JHP 45 runs fine with minimal cleaning. It is the AK-47 of .45 cal pistols. It definitely requires breaking in. But it is fun to shoot so I didn't mind the FTEs during the break-in.

People always complain about the take down process of a Hi Point. Well I own a Ruger LC9s and it also has a pin you have to take out. People always say how ugly a Hi Point is...... I don't see it that way. Yes, it is large and it is heavy, but I don't think it is ugly. I can buy a JHP new for $159 at Rural King. You just can't beat that a 45 caliber for $159.

With High Point, the transferable warranty works like this: No matter where or how you got your High Point firearm, new, used, or whatever, and no matter what happened to the gun: it’s covered. That’s coming from customer service when I needed carbine parts to repair because of a very high drop onto some rocks.

Seriously, i would trust my life with any Hi-Point, I haven’t heard of any of their products that were unreliable. As far as my concealed carry weapon, I carry a SCCY cpx-1, because they are compact reliable and again inexpensive. You don’t need high dollar firearms, I have a gun safe full of them.

I have a couple Hi Point firearms (JHP45/4595/4095) and they are solid shooters. For example, my M&P 40 2.0 would not take steel rounds- thought I was stuck with 500 stove pipes.in my future. Yep, they definitely have a break in period. I had a C9 and had several malfunctions when it was new. Had to adjust the feed lips a few times to get it to feed properly. Then it worked okay but I think it was extremely heavy for a carry gun. The Zymac slide makes it heavy so I sold it and got another make of 9mm.

I'm impressed for a $200 pistol that comes with a single, 9 round mag. I prefer the .45ACP for "put your attacker on his ass quick because it's life or death" protection. I've been looking for another nightstand gun in .45ACP because I don't want my Glock 21 ( or any of my good, more expensive guns ) to be in evidence for a year or more while they determine whether me shooting a home invader(s) was justified. With extra mags going for $16-$17 each, since I want at least 2 reloads, this looks to be a solid choice at a good price. Most rounds into 1 ragged hole at 15 yards ( longer distance than I would realistically use this gun for as a home defense gun ) on that first paper target was impressive, 100 rounds back to back with no malfunctions with cheap ammo is impressive for a $200 .45 ( I use mostly Wolf and Red Army standard in my AKs and they always function perfectly ). Yeah, it's a big, ugly, clunky, heavy gun and not a carry pistol, but it seems to work and, if I have to use it, I'm not out $600 until I get my gun back from evidence. Would you ( or anyone that has experience with this gun ) stake your life on this pistol. I hear lots of good things about them, except from snobbish guys that buy some really nice guns and can't hit shit with them because they don't know how to shoot, they load them and put them in a sock drawer without much range time. I have really good, expensive Glocks, Sig Saurs, AKs, etc....... as well, but I look at performance for it's intended task. Since this would be used at close range indoors, this seems to work. Thoughts before I rush and buy one, anybody?

Definitely, although I also keep a 16 and 12 gauge around for that lol. I have one of these, it's even an old first gen jhp and it has no issues, just do NOT use cheap ammo. But some high quality high pressure ammo. (high points are almost built strictly for high pressure ammo)
@willtherealrustyschacklefo3812
@willtherealrustyschacklefo3812 8 ай бұрын
But for $200 or less this is basically the top of the line option outside of a cheap home defense shotgun. (Although apparently they recently came out with a 10mm of you prefer that caliber, which may be better for a highpoint tbh)

The .380 and 9mm are prone to feeding issues. There are videos on KZbin on how to correct the problem. However, every JHP45 owner i know(6) have had zero feeding issues. The .45 will cycle anything you load into the magazine. Awesome truck/home defense gun for the budget minded.

@@ihatefords1000 Not exactly true. The 45 and 40 I currently own came new from the factory with polished feed ramps. My 9's did not. I called HP and asked why some are factory polished and some not. They told me they polish the feedramps during test firing if it is needed to make that gun reliable. I've had many HP's over the years and have never had to polish a feedramp to make one reliable.

Had to down vote this video because you had a few errors in your data. No loaded chamber indicator, JHP (45acp) mag capacity is 9 rounds Stallard manufacturing went out of business in 2000, but yes the S stood for metal frames. While yes you can modify/replace the mag latch to run 1911 mags, they have more gap in the well compared to the more rectangular HP mags that contribute to malfunctions, no mention of how you were shooting, from a bench, standing unsupported Etc.. Other than that good video & good shooting. Thanks for posting Sir. 👍

I don't see why people say it's ugly. ARs are ugly as hell, but they have a lot of stupid fans. I am looking to buy one of these, actually but right now, they are hard to find and a good bit more expensive than they were. Still reasonable enough though, when you can find one. I have not been able to find any place that has them in stock, neither locally or online, the closest I came was 40 one state over, but by the time you pay the shipping to a local dealer and the fees for them handling the sale, it ups the price substantially and I'm not in love with the 40 round anyway My way of thinking, go with a 38 special or a 45, the 40 is a compromise and compromises suck. Definition of a compromise in most cases is nobody gets what they want. To a married man it means the wife gets what she wants and you get to pay for it. lol

your pricing is out of date. They've jumped up in price since the beer virus started. IF I could find them for around 200, I'd buy two.

@@TheDanoid51 wow you got lucky, that's the pre-covid price. I had to pay 100 more than that. However, now it's the ammo that is a problem, it's so inconsistent, I never know where it's going to hit.

July / 2022 local hole in the wall shop here in Georgia (literally 20’x20’) that does more volume that Academy Sports. Cabela’s, & Bass Pro combined had a special on them - $120.00! I bought 2. Should have bought 3!

I thought a blowback pistol needed to be confined to the smaller calibers... a 45ACP would be 2.5 pounds! Hi-Point did it anyway. Sharpen the slide and use it as a wood maul!

That was a good trade. To be fair though, you ever need parts for that SAR9 (gun parts do wear) good luck getting them from Turkey 🇹🇷 The HP, you just call them up & the parts show up in your mailbox (often free of charge).
