quick tip to prevent paint from seeping under your tape, if you are really worried about it you can use a thin clear coat nail polish on the edges of the tape, this will prevent paint seepage and will give you nice clean lines when you peel the tape back off.

Literally in the brink of ordering all the stuff I need to air brush my kits and this did me in. I ordered that masking tape. Some paints. Thinner. All of it haha

Word of advice. Get a compressor with a built in tank over one without a tank. More expensive, but big difference

@@darena12 thanks! I’ll drop the money up front if it saves me more in the long run!

Noice, I just picked up their hex camo tape, toying with the idea of putting it on the MG Providence to incorporate that cool box art background onto the kit itself somehow...

Looks very nice actually

You can wet sand it lightly with 1500/2000 grit or higher to remove those masking tape paint marks

Yep exactly!

I’m so excited to see this finished! Working up the courage and materials to do my first airbrushed kit. Would you recommend lacquer paints over enamels?
@Kr1vr1n3 жыл бұрын
I've yet to airbrush enamel paint but I have used lacquer and acrylic and I confidently say that lacquer is the way to go. It is stronger and drys a lot faster.
@TsorovanZero3 жыл бұрын
Lacquer is the way to go. More beginner friendly than acrylics. You will want to get some enamels later on for detail painting, at least silver and flat black.

@4no3bo3dy3 жыл бұрын
@zakuaurelius what’s your wait time for drying before adding masking, as well as wait time to peel all layers of masking?
@ZakuAurelius3 жыл бұрын
I waited about an hour before putting tape on, and after spraying you can take the tape off within minutes if you want. You just have to be able to handle the part to take the tape off safely without messing up the rest of the fresh paint
@evoiii83 жыл бұрын
How long do you usually wait in between coats? Do you allow 24 hours to cure before putting down tape and adding another color, or is a few hours between layers fine?
@ZakuAurelius3 жыл бұрын
Actually about an hour or so, not too long. And after some discussion on discord we think that might actually be the sweet spot
@vustvaleo80683 жыл бұрын
meanwhile there are lazy people which probably includes me just uses those water-slide decals of camo patterns instead of paint, lol.
