This is a really neat method. Back when I was into the hobby - what I did was superheat a nail and then press it slightly into the plastic - melting it to show the dent - then let it cool and dry, followed by silver paint inside the hole. I found that method to be super easy. To find the right nail size I just took the tip of the nail and compared it to a zaku machine gun’s muzzle break.

It's very cool seeing people make _battle scar_ marks on GunPla kits. I am impressed with how relatively simply techniques, you're able to get such great results. 💯👍🔥

Would you please show how to make molten metal effect when amour or shield hit by beam saber or beam rifle?

Deep scratch on the plastic. Dollop of putty along it it, use brush's hard tip end (not bristles) to run along the putty. Use a tool to sculpt the pushed out putty to wanted form. Easier bullet holes are made the same way. Drill, fill some with putty, poke with sharp end of the brush from the wanted angle. Clean the dollop to wanted shape.

"If you add too many (holes) it's impossible to go back". Well, if you're willing to put the time in to repaint the shield, you can actually use modelling putty to fill in the holes and sand them down.

Your weathering tutorial showed how to make a piece look heavily weathered, but how do you do the edges with the black spotting? Is it really just using a sponge with black paint?
@ju87d-3stuka7 Жыл бұрын
Yup, you can try doing it by hand, but the sponge is just a lot easier.

I’m currently working on a new project and I decided to do some bullet damage on the shield as well. I considered using the drill but then I decided to go with the iron soldering rod instead. The reason for this is that the bullets are supposed to be from a beam rifle so the iron soldering rod will give the desirable melting effect on the plastic. And it worked but your video inspired me to do some effects around the holes. Thank you for your video.

Instead of metallic paint you could paint the metal grey and use rust enamel washes for a cool effect

You should wear a wrestling costume when working on your kit. 😂😅

Guys umm if you shoot a gun from far away it won’t have any noticeable shrapnel but if you shoot from up close then you have shrapnel

Ok i know scale so bullet rounds wound be dots. Those holes you made would be cannon rounds. Large guage shells. Like from a tank. Bullet from soilders would be very small. Or even a Gatling gun. My opinion. Remember the scale of the human in the machine. If he was standing beside those holes those would be very large in scale.

Good tutorial. Was thinking of making a skull mask of the black gbn guard frame mask and add bullet holes as eye holes with metalic paint or stickers as eyes in them. Will probably be a while before I make that build tho.

Horrible explanation you have some of the basics down though. That said you don't want to be a small step trick pony instead you want to build on in multiple stages. Another thing you want to account for is the crater or cracked effect of taking multiple shots on or in a near vicinity. If your going to be drilling or gouging through the surface then you also want to add residual effects to the inner frame or new exposed piece. If you are left with a hollow hole then create your own backing. Glue a piece of pla playe under the hole, and there you go your very own backing for more expression. Another thing you want to take into effect is using plastic cement on the sharpened edges. After a while tour going to create realist textures or stippling on the surface via toothpick to create more realistic damages. In terms of paint well again you want to paint in stages. Battle damage is literally how every builder messes up their build, because they always go overboard. Less will always be more, because that way you gibe every small piece of battle damage all the attention in the world.
