The CP sounds great, sparky and clear. This demo was with the shown attenuator engaged?

Yup! And thanks!

I'm envious that you have the now discontinued CP30 model. Current choices now would be either the 18w (lowatt) or 50w versions. The former may be a little shy of desired power at times, while the 50w is likely too much for most practical applications.

@@montag4516 There’s not a whole lot of volume difference between a 50 and 30 watter here. But if you Email Clayton, I’m sure he’ll build you a 30 watter

Yes, I've talked to Clayton before, but never regarding the CP models. I have a HI-Tone DG 30 combo. That seems just about the right amount of power to cover the bases of both low and high volume needs. Do you find yourself almost always using an attenuator with your CP30? With Hiwatts and Hi-Tones in the stable, we know what we like.

@@montag4516 I not only almost always have to use an attenuator with the CP30, but I frequently have to use it with my Lowatt SAP combo. They’re loud amps! But I’m having a Lowatt CP combo made to run a two-amp rig with the SAP combo, as the “kerrrang” punchiness of the CP and gain of the SAP are pretty complimentary. But as a single amp, there’s something magical about the CP30…extra robust low end coupled with those shimmering highs.

Sounds fantastic! I just got the Custom Lowatt CP with the 2x231 vertical as I think you have here. Can't wait to plug the '68 SG Special/P90 guitar in there! I'm hoping I get the same "heft" you do with the CP30 with the Lowatt version. Cheers!

Hey there Matt -- Which speaker cabinet did you use here?

Hi-Tone 2x12 with ‘231 speakers

Hello Matt, I'm back hoping you may offer your insight to which of the three Hi-Tone model speakers would be best suited for a CP Lowatt head. I already have plenty of midrange in my other amps, so for this I'd like a speaker that accentuates an open top end zing, in one of their 2x12 vertical cabs. Seems the 231 speaker is the normal match for CP models, but I wonder if those will leave me limited, again, by too much midrange emphasis. Or can the mids by marginalized on a CP simply by turning up the bass and treble controls? Yes, I've watched all the Hi-Tone videos repeatedly, but it's hard to discern without hearing the various speakers in person. I anticipate putting my order in quickly as Clayton has stated that prices will be increasing as of Sept 1st. Thanks in advance.

I tried my CPs with both the 231 and DR-F, and vastly preferred the 231. The DR-F felt too harsh with the CP, as the circuit is already more mid scooped than the other models.

Excellent. That's very helpful firsthand experience.
