Here are the top ten ways to screw up this test. 1. Not cleaning the syringes carefully between tests. 2. Not long pressing the button on the checker for c2 and now there’s no timer and no way to go back and do a new c1 so you’re screwed. 3. Spilling some of the powder because you weren’t careful in forming your little “V” shaped pourer from the reagent packet. 4. Getting H1781B-0 confused with H1781C-0 5. Getting H1781C-0 confused with H1781B-0 6. Not looking at the results between the 7 minute timer and the 10 minute auto shutoff. 7. Confusing which syringe to use at which step and contaminating your reagent bottle. 8. Incorrectly filtering/forgetting to filter your C1 sample. 9. Spilling contents of a cuvette/bottle. 10. Not having a Salifert test to get an actual reading.

So this is a Nitrate checker, Right? You need to Redo audio on this video. 1:11 "Get a sample of Nitrate and Nitrite free salt water..... " NO mention of salinity level.. and How am I supposed to check this water for Nitrate if this is the Nitrate checker?
@bobbyknox92583 жыл бұрын
One slight snag with this dilution method. How the hell are supposed to get nitrate free salt water? All the synthetic salt mixes and I mean all of them contain nitrate!

The first sample is that your tank water or just plain RODI water?

Yes, I’d like to know the same

ok so i have a couple questions... first up. When you add the first 1ml and then fill with nitrate free salt water to the 10ml do we actually need to add 9ml of nitrate free water or just to the line? is it to the line or the meniscus? secondly is the water supposed to turn red/pink after adding the HI781C-0 and mixing for 2 minutes?
@peaesforsux50624 жыл бұрын
I can answer one of these for you haha. I just got mine today and about to try my first sample. I'm assuming the nitrate free saltwater I have to provide needs to be 35ppt? But if you take a look at the instruction packet they included and look under "Specifications" and then under "Method" it says... "The reaction between nitrate and the reagent causes a pink/violet tint in sample."
@eddyg68544 жыл бұрын
@@peaesforsux5062 the nitrate free water needs to be the same salinity as your tank water. Hanna told me this.

because is Low Range, wich is the margen of results ? from 0 To ? how much ?
@HannaInc2 ай бұрын
The range is 0.00 to 5.00 ppm (as NO3-) 0.0 to 50.0 ppm (calculated) using dilution

I did the nitrate test with my tank water and got the blinking 5.0 which indicates a test above 5. I then did this method and the checker gave me a test of .48 and when I multiplied that by 10 I get 4.8 which is lower than 5. What am I doing wrong?
@BiologyIsHot4 жыл бұрын
The accuracy isn't perfect, so you're probably just barely above 5. If you do a smaller dilution. Like w mL of sample in to 10 mL of nitrate free water, you'll probably get like 5.1 or something i bet.

So just a couple of thoughts on how this very complex process could be made a bit simpler. First instead of taking out 7ml of sample then discarding 3ml then adding back 7ml, why not just take out 3ml and discard?? Second, is it necessary to have the complex naming convention for the syringes and reagents? Instead of saying HI740157P, why not just say the pipe the dropper?? Also I hate this kit. It reminds me of a college chemistry lab.

This is about the most confusing video ever… nitrite and nitrate free salt water?!?! Also, with the code names for literally everything is so stupid. I’m about to throw this thing in the trash. I hope Hanna sees these comments and fixes these issues because I’m going to be switching to a different company for my testing.

@@HannaInc thanks for reaching out. I am going to buy the high ranch nitrate checker. I do wish the videos didn’t have the code names though.
