I bought the R4 as my first DAP I have been using my LGV30+ for years but the old phone is showing its age, it was nice to just take out the micro SD Card from one device to the next without issue I also love that its class A and the Bluetooth LDAC is excellent too.

Something I've not seen people talk about is the rear LED's are a great indicator for seeing if the amp is powered on. It's a class A amp, so it should basically always be on, but it turns off when the device is asleep. Nice to see if the device is just sitting there getting hot when you thought you paused the music

just got the r4...and listened to it for 4hrs. really good...now i am wondering how the top flagship would sound like....so this is excellent as i only use it for travel w IEM...and got the evangelion version which is really gorgeous!

I have this Hiby R4 in orange my husband gave me $200.00 dollars out of income tax money we got back and I went bought this on Hiby's website I gotta $10.00 coupon which brought the price down from $249.00 to $239.00 I have mine for about 3 weeks andcI love it!!! 🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️ I wanted the Hiby R6 Pro II in Purple a man here on KZbin waa was selling from the UK but he didn't sell it for the £200.00 pounds he sold his for £400.00 pounds so I seen this R4 and thought cool this isca nice futuristic looking player and I bought it. And I did still got buy the Hiby R6 Pro II on Amazon on Saturday night using Affirm payments this time without any money down in the purple color which comes in the mail later today. So im new to all this and im thinking of getting wither the R4 or R6 gen 3 (hence why im warching reviews lol) but 1 question id like to know is can i use USB-C IEMs in the USB-C port? I have a pair of type c IEMs that i use with my phone so thats why im asking, thanks

That is a good question. If they are passive, none will work, if the IEMs are active, both should work, but R6 GHen 3 is more like a smartphone, so more recommended if you're coming from a phone. Active vs passive means if the IEMs have a DAC or just wait for an analog signal over the type c connection, like huawei does

I only heard that 306 briefly, but in my short time with it, the sound of the R4 is more midrange forward, more deatiled and driving power much bewtter, so it has a lower distortion

Hii, I’ve been a fan of your channel for a week now (I’m subbed on another account as well), I really like how you present the information straightforward and clearly, very commendable. I have a question about the Hiby R4 if you don’t mind answering: I saw that it’s for sale on Amazon for 307€ but it’s almost 60€ more expensive than the ones sold by Hiby (and Amazon also doesn’t have the colour green that I like the most). Do you know of any other way to buy it in Europe without having to import it from China? Also, one more question: I heard some people say that some R4s get REALLY hot to the point where it becomes unbearable; have you had any issues with overheating on yours? Hii an thank you so much for all your kind words!! In Europe, you could get in contact with Hiby and ask them if they are willing to note the value low so that you don't have to pay high taxes... Other than this,only Amazon or second hand. My unit does not ge extremely hot, but it does get very warm. The only product I would consider too hot so far would be Keces S300+, that one gets too hot to touch

Hii, Yes to all of them, R4 should be powerful enough for Sundara, AR5000 and for Edition XS too. The peak of its limit is ananda Nano and Arya Organic, I would not try to drive anything harder to drive than those

Yes, it is an interesting alternative, lower perfromance but similar design / android abilities

@@vaisakhmurali6918 Class A is great, and it is a great DAP, DX170 can sound a bit more detailed at times, depends on what you prefer. R4 has a generally pleasing sound, DX170 is a bit of an upgrade sonically, for almost double the price.

Hii! I was just working on reivewing the Zen DAC 3 right now, so i can compare with it right now . overall Zen DAC V3 has a sweeter sounding, more pleasing midrange, more distortion in the bass, and a sharper, more bright and a bit harsher treble. R4 sounds fuller has better drivbing power, and lower distortion. Noise floor is a bit lower on R4. The difference in resolution and clarity is not very large, you'd make a big jump if going to something like HIFIMAN EF600, or iBasso DX260, but otherwise Zen DAC is a good DAC, at least V3 is something I would keep unless going for a different class of product, especially if you don't need portability.

Hii, I don't have a noticeable noise floor on the balanced output. But it depends on the IEMs. For example, IE900 won't have any,. but Soundz Avant or Sweears Helive5 will have some background noise with almost any source

Shoirtly, R4 has better functionality, and for sound, R4 sounds more overdriven, but also more controlled, lower distortion, better detail, cleaner sound, better dynamics and soundstage.

It should be 2V, but I am not sure if it has a practical line out or if you just set volume at max, need to check in the menu.

Hii, I have not tested this in-depth, but as far as i know, Tidal allows music to be saved only in ROM, I have never gotten it to save to card with any DAP.

Hard to say, i know for sure R6 III is an improvement, but R4 is in the same ballpark as r5II

I’m sorry, but if it has an audible noise floor, that’s not a hires player… even the free apple dongle doesn’t have that. But love the design.

With sensitive enough IEMS, everything has a noise floor, especially the apple dongle. There are some rare high-end DAPs and dongles that have no noise floor out there, but they are rare

R4 is low end... Mid starts at ibasso DX180 and thats a great mid.
