That is a crazy cheap price for everything that you get. I'm sure we will see in our lifetime, bit perfect wireless Bluetooth, and I'm not talking lossy. Awesome video of an amazing product! Thank you Andy!

No worries. I eagerly await the time when we will have wireless audio that goes over 1411 kbps, when we can have uncompressed WAV lossless!

The bitrate alone isn’t a definitive indicator, it depends on the codec used. If LDAC employs Atrac, ALAC, or FLAC codecs, a 900 kbps bitrate can transmit CD audio or higher quality. However, a 1500 kbps bitrate transmitting a pure PCM signal may result in poorer audio quality.

Thanks. What I didn't mentioned in this video is how good HIBY BT implementation is which I think even better than FiiO, not a single moment I am having LDAC Max or UAT getting distortion/jitter even when I was like 3 feet away, you can't do that with FiiO BTR15 or Qudelix 5K
@d0nj03
@d0nj03 7 ай бұрын
LDAC employs the LDAC lossy codec, nothing else. It has no lossless operating mode. The closest you can get is to force it to constantly transmit at 44.1 kHz / 16-bit / 909 kbps, then it has a 64% compression ratio (909/1411), all other operating modes have much worse compression. Even the hi-res mode that goes up to 990 kbps has worse compression, so it's more kbps but also more of it is wasted.

Thanks for info, as I said am seriously considering to get this due to mic placement. Why is the audio so bad in this video?
@AndyAudioVault

Thanks. I recorded this session using OBS Software and have to turn on the Noise Suppression because it was a hot day here, I have a fan wheezing air to my face, while I was able to reduce the wind sound, the OBS Noise Suppression apparently also introduced some other issues with voice compression.

Hi Andy, If I am after a budget setup for my Celtic Frost / Dimmu Borgir / Marduk fix, would this work ok with my Tanchjim Zeros? I am not pro Audiophile, but have managed to crackle to sets of AirPod Pros though getting my metal on. PS do you have a Spotify playlist?
@AndyAudioVault
@AndyAudioVault 6 ай бұрын
Yes of course, Tanchjim ZERO is highly versatile and scalable so it will work seamlessly with W3 II. You gonna get something that is organic sounding yet with fast transients, non fatiguing type of listening hours on end, especially with Celtic Frost/Dimmu Borgir/Marduk. Unfortunately, now I only have Tidal and KZbin Playlist for Metal music

@@AndyAudioVault thanks mate, i appreciate the quick reply, love your reviews, i hope this combo is better then the AirPod pros, i feel like I am missing half the guitars, I had a set of tanchjim zero dsp’s, they were refunded yesterday (the usb c pin pulled out and was left in my phone) they were good about it, I thought I would go non dsp 3.5 and add this Bluetooth dac to shelve the apples for good. 🤘 much love from Australia

Just as there are Bluetooth dongles like btr15, for example, do you know if there are TWS with analog sound?
@AndyAudioVault
@AndyAudioVault 8 ай бұрын
Unfortunately my knowledge on TWS is still limited. Also you must take into account TWS will always be influenced by DSP processing, it is the nature of TWS. DSP for the most part will inflict artifical enhancement which in turn will take away elements of analog transparency. Yes they sound great, but they tend to be dynamically colored too

BTR15 is more transparent and offer more extensions on both end of the sound frequencies. It is also a bit more resolving

Hey Andy another dumb question for me, I see reviews of gaps digital players, and they hook a dongle to the dab to listen with their IENs. Why would you do this is there benefit to it I don't understand The dap has a DAC inside of it so why would you put an external DAC on it I don't know if you've seen this again you can ignore this question if it makes no sense
@AndyAudioVault
@AndyAudioVault 8 ай бұрын
Very simple. You connect an external DAC/Amp to a DAP to experience different sound tuning and output. The DAP in that instance will serve as a digital transport and all audio processing done by the external DAC/Amp. So you get different sound altogether
@shamelessplace11
@shamelessplace11 8 ай бұрын
@@AndyAudioVault now my tiny pee brain gets it. It's so that you can actually hear the differences in the dat that you have and a DAC that you have and I could swap my dongles out left and right and get like an almost instantaneous representation of their sound. Cuz I have a couple dongles and it takes a little bit for me to notice the sound change depending on which iams I put in thanks Andy you're man you're all over it
@northborneo

Same reason why i sometimes use a DAC dongle with my LG phones, to get a different sound signature. Always has been a sucker for AKM DAC chip sound. The built in ESS DAC chip inside the LG V60 is great and its practical when going about my daily routine, but when I want a different flavour I plug in my Colorfly CDA M1P.

@@AndyAudioVault does the UAT codec work for iPhones?
@mcnaugha
@mcnaugha 8 ай бұрын
Comparing bit rates here is marketing nonsense. They are not comparable like this. The bit rate given is the Bluetooth transmission bit rate and the only real measure it provides is how much energy it will use. It tells us very little about how much of a lossless source gets through that transmission. As someone else pointed this out too, the codec mathematically transforms the audio data in specific ways that can be very different from codec to codec. Most of them have preset losses for the bit rate which don’t change based on the source. The bit rate you see on the device is the minimum rate at which the data needs to be read from the local storage (or possibly RAM) to playback without interruption. So, unfortunately this is not how you judge whether you are getting lossless or not. UAT uses 1.2Mb for its 192kHz transmission. This is not what it uses for 44.1kHz/48kHz/96kHz sources. If it’s doing 192kHz at 1.2Mb it’s definitely a lossy codec. It will be doing 44.1kHz at a much lower bit rate.
