IN THIS VLOG:
On leaving Narkanda (Shimla) we decided to take a less travelled route going north. We wanted a challenge, beautiful views and we had read about a little place called JIBHI, in Tirthan Valley which was supposed to be breathtakingly beautiful and worth a visit before it gets destroyed by tourism.
To get there we had to hitchhike through Jalori Pass and we'd been warned by locals there wouldn't be many cars and that it might be a bit difficult to hitchhike. We were even advised to travel back to Shimla town from Narkanda and go all the way around through Mandi and then down to Tirthan Valley. We chose not to listen as we were felt very intrigued to travel through a beautiful mountain pass and it looked so much shorter on the map.
We walked around the corner from our guesthouse and stuck our thumbs out and it didn't take long before we got our first ride and our adventure had begun.

The Jalori Pass is very beautiful. I hiked around there in 2000. Slept in the chai shop by the side of the road right at the top of the pass the first night. Second night from a cave a few kms in to the mountains we saw an amazing storm fly through the pass just at sunset. One of the most amazing moments in India for me!!

Jalori Pass is very much known as " Old Britishers route". During british governance Shimla was the Capital of India and Jalori Pass was and is the only route which connects the entire valley to Shimla.

Whenever I had a funny tummy in India I had a honey lemon ginger tea. No actual tea in it. I found almost any chai shop or restaurant would make it for me. It would help ease the tummy.

Malin & Alex... I hope ur enjoying the hitchhiking trip to India .. Some basic tips for ur trip... 1. First & foremost please don't crib about everything, especially small small things. Cribbing won't help things to change.... So enjoy the situations as they r.... Malin if ur having the delhi - belly, immediately go for packaged curd...which soothes the stomach.. Don't take heavy food as it will aggravate it. Also check the expiry date of all the packed item u eat. It's printed on all the products. Momos may feel tasty but they r made from white flour & steamed & may aggravate the situation ur in. I saw ur rishikesh vlog which I found very interesting. Mind u, don't opt for a swim in the river at any place u feel like, as people have been sucked into the quicksand on the banks of the river on many occasions. Just b cautious about these things. Do u know the reason why small kids were demanding money from u in ur jodhpur vlog... I saw one vlog of Bald & Bankrupt on youtube in which he gave money to the kids to buy firecrackers. The vlog covered the whole scene of bursting the firecrackers with the kids. But it gets them into the habit of seeking easy money.... Glad you did not give anything to them.... It gets them into a bad habit.. By the way U missed the best part... that is.. Visiting the Upper Himalayas.. Both in Himachal as well as the Garhwal Himalayas. Wow! This was a long comment. We're not sure what you mean when you say crib? It's not a word used in England. We suppose you mean nag or complain? We do complain in our videos. Travelling is not always fun. Sometimes you're unwell, sometimes you are tired, sometimes you're in a bad mood. It's life. If you watch all our videos you'll see that we praise basically all the countries we travel through and the people we meet so a bit of "cribbing" doesn't hurt. After all, we are documenting reality, not creating an edited reality showing only beauty. We do eat curd and other pro-biotic foods for our stomachs. We are well travelled and as Malin has IBS she knows what her tummy can handle and not handle. To be honest. Momos is probably one of the only foods that didn't aggravate Malin's stomach as it's made only from flour and water and wasn't spicy. Our bellie's are all different. We only swum in Mother Ganga where there weren't any current and the water was calm. We are from places where there are lot's of lakes, rivers and oceans so we know how to behave around water sources. Yes we do know why kids ask for money and we explain that in more than one video, including the Jodhpur vlog and that's why we don't give them money. Our videos are not finished yet, and we are visiting more places and there will be more videos. We only had 2 months in India so we couldn't visit all the places we wanted but we will for sure be back more than once. There's so much to explore. Thanks for all your advice. We were hitchhiking and it was in April so It would have been pretty cold for us as we weren't equipped for cold weather. We read about it though and it seems really nice.
