I like the DA/SA function. To me it is an extra level of safety with the longer pull. And I like the all metal construction, don't know why, just personal preference. I have two throw backs to the brick era, the P226 and a 4013TSW. Both good shooters, but with the higher bore axis they are snappy.

thats based. im the same way. my favorite carry gun which i wish i could find for the 90 bucks i got it... hungarian PA-63 in makarov. had alluminum / titanium alloy frame. decocker / safety . and a 20 pound first trigger pull... fixed that with a cheap 6 dollar wolf spring kit though. straight blowback super accurate. basically a soviet knockoff of the ppk but lighter weight.

I'm not a Glock accolyte, even though I own one (G23) and I also own a P229 in .40. When I taught a lot, I'd take both and let the inexperienced shooters try both. Particularly if I had one expressing an unqualified opinion about the Glock. To a person, whomever I did that with dropped the Glock and stated their preference for the SIG. I agreed. I've had the Glock 20 years now and the SIG 26 years. As a SIG and Glock armorer, they've both been tweaked a bit but retain the factory springs and internals. As a shooter, I'll take the SIG every time. I don't have to think about it.

I have a P229 in 40 S&W. It's in excellent condition but it's also one of the most inaccurate handguns I own. Calling it "combat accurate" would be gilding the lily. I purchased a P228 "kit" from a stripped down former LE pistol with all the parts except the frame and, after changing the locking block, installed the P228 upper on the P229 frame. Now it has the accuracy one would expect from a Sig.

The double action was intended to make the guns safer by means of the heavier pull. Complaining about the difference in trigger pulls between single and double action kind of misses the point. I always like the double action triggers as it made safeties unnecessary back in the day. But I am an old guy and the striker fired guns are all the rage now. There is no trigger safety and the single action pull on a sig is much lighter with virtually no travel to release the hammer. I am careful holstering any loaded gun but I would never attempt to holster a cocked and loaded sig. I remember seeing hickock holster a cocked sig in one of his videos, I think it was a 226, and I held my breath as he was doing it! It doesn't take much to trip the sear on a broken in sig in single action!
@milansekularac61964 ай бұрын
@@al01100 true. I never understood the glock-style trigger safety. Correct me if I am missing it's point, please? Tge gun may unintentionally discharge if something presses on the trigger, say clothes while holstering. I don't see how trifgger safety helps there.

I’ve shot these a great deal and my real gripe was every time I passed 400-500 rds in a range trip, the gun’s slide would start grabbing the frame and feeling like it was binding. In fact, my Sig locked up twice and needed to be seen by the agency armorer; luckily it only locked up on the range and not while I was in the field! I was relieved when my agency moved to Glocks, a much more reliable running pistol. I know a bunch of folks like their Sigs but from my experience of carrying one for 5 years, I’ll take a Glock anytime!

@mkshffr49364 ай бұрын
@@Pappy7064 I have never seen anyone carry a SAA cocked have you? A DA/SA auto is carried hammer down on a loaded chamber like a DA revolver. Normally you draw the weapon and pull the DA trigger thus the differing trigger pull. Now when drawing a SAA one cocks the hammer when coming on target. If you do the same with the auto pistol you now have consistent SA trigger pulls. This is no more dangerous than carrying a SAA hammer down on an empty chamber and no slower that carrying a 1911 cocked and locked.
