Used to live in Mt. Auburn. Never went to this mall (my ex worked in Decatur). All of the businesses left Decatur (CAT being one of the biggest) and it was not likely that the location helped the cash strapped town. No people. No money. High crime. No mall.

I moved from Decatur about a year ago. I grew up in that area and have went to that mall hundreds of times throughout the last 2 and a half decades, shocked it isnt completely abandoned yet.

I’m kind of surprised that it’s dying. What everyone’s just driving to Springfield or Champaign for their shopping I guess didn’t think people would be willing to drive that distance

@@TiltedTripodMedia Probably a 100 different reasons it’s dying but it if you had to point to one it’s probably the rise of online retail, same thing that’s killed nearly every other mall.
