This is the Village Mall located in a small town in rural Illinois. It’s sad that I couldn’t gain access to the entire mall. So we will be documenting it before it closes in the near future.

I was born in Danville IL and have/had family there. It used to be a beautiful town... especially when GM was there...very sad to see it in such bad shape..

I used to go to that mall with great aunt and cousins and my mom went there all the time and my grandma remembers when the stores came to the mall it’s so sad that the mall is closing

The AMC was past that first section of walled off mall that was seen in the video. That JoAnn's fabric spot was once an amazing chinese place but it only last maybe a year despite a lot of renovation to get it in. Also beyond that first blocked off area tgat you show at the end was bc collectibles. They had been in the mall since the early 90s. I would play magic the gathering tournaments there in the 2000s and 2010s. The store closed cause the owner was ready to retire in Florida.

Was a bit disappointed we couldn’t see down the blocked off wings. I can tell you this mall is going to close soon. Great video.

I used to work there from 2008-2009. When I was there the food court had Sbarro's and Marias. They did have movie posters there however the theater was near the old Elder Beerman Section. I still remember Friday nights being busy.

@@TiltedTripodMedia There use to be car dealers near downtown. Chevy, Buick, Ford maybe Pontiac it if so I didn't go there as much as the others. I worked for Chevy. A mi!e out if that was Dodge. If I remember Cadillac was in west main. Datsun (Nissan) and Volkswagen wagon was on north Vermillion past the mall. Many other things changed as well. The mall was normally full of customers. The downtown area was once concrete from Main past the next street, can't remember name right off and then continued concrete till next street. No vehicle al traffic. All of the buildings on main from Gilbert east had local businesses in them. All the grass space you see near the if it's still there Ford dealer across the street was also buildings. Like I said way different.

@@TiltedTripodMedia Danville was a booming town at one time. Most of the good paying manufacturing jobs have left. It's nowhere near what it used to be

That Mall was always busy in the 80's and 90's, spent a lot of time there growing up. Jolly Jester, Disc Jockey, Sbarro's, and of course, all the movies. I know a big portion of it just got sold, not sure what the plans with the new owners are going to be.

The southern most entrance on the front of the building was where the theater was. Last movie I seen there was Smokey and the Bandit I believe.

@@TiltedTripodMedia I worked in that mall in the late 70s and early 80s. Started at Ayrway just before target bought them. When you exited the sliding doors from target into the mall, the first store on the right was a head shop of the times.
