The Red Lobster down the street from me is on the chopping block for closure. It sits on an outparcel of a dead mall where homeless people stay in the parking lot.

I used to go when it was open air. Shopped at Jackies Circle, Albert K, Woolworth. Vwhen I was 13 /14 years old I'd go to JCPs candy counter and get 25 cents worth of m&m's or the red died pistachios, The candy lady would scoop them into a white paper bag. I'd then go sit by the water mill and people watch. Went to the Mill Run theater now and then too.

Used to live in Mt. Auburn. Never went to this mall (my ex worked in Decatur). All of the businesses left Decatur (CAT being one of the biggest) and it was not likely that the location helped the cash strapped town. No people. No money. High crime. No mall.

Grew up w both parks. My dad worked for Nutone and they rented out the entire park (Americana). Went to Fantasy Farm too. I remember all the rides. I don't need a map. Hated the sky ride. Several people died in that lake. People swam in the lake b4 they built a pool. Great memories. Idk if my grandkids would like either bc they have Kings Island. I remember Coney Island too b4 Kings Island opened. I was 6 maybe? Miss the old parks and their reasonable prices!!

Lots of memories from this mall as a kid. Pathmark was like the only grocery store in my area so we’d go there on the weekends shopping and always went to Aegean pizza. The best pizza which is now part of Carlo’s pizza in Holbrook. This mall was awesome in the 80s. It even had an arcade named Subway by the dentist. I visited Record Stop every weekend to get music. I remember McCrory, Rickel was where toys r us was and no it did not have an in the mall entrance. AC MOORE did though. Before AC Moore it was the Gap. Sears portrait studios was near AC Moore wing. Also Service Merchandise was in the corner. Blockbuster video was by pathmark. Santa and the Easter Bunny was there every year. Had many breakfasts at The Pancake Cottage. The mall went downhill in the 90’s I’d say and never recovered. Once Pathmark closed it was pretty much done except for AC moore and aegeans. And pathmark was pretty sketchy towards the end. Then the pandemic did in the rest of the stores. People lined up the day aegeans closed to get pizzas, including myself. They had to start sending people away. They ran out of food. People drove from Queens NY for their last day to get food. It was sad. Glad they’re doing something with this mall and I’ll always keep my memories of SunVet mall.

@@TiltedTripodMedia yep, 👍 I got it a few years ago, and love the sound since I got it, and since I’m weird and when I like something I gotta have at least two of anything, specially vintage audio, I got me another one, and this one, it absolutely needs the belts, everything else works, I’m glad that you got everything working in yours
@TiltedTripodMedia12 күн бұрын
@@grumpyandroid yeah I got most everything working on it as far as the buzzing noise goes I think it’s just something that older technology especially audio equipment is susceptible to because back in the 1980s they didn’t have all the radio interference from Wi-Fi and cell phone towers that causes electrical interference as far as the CD scraping sound, it’s not damaging my CDs, but the scraping noise I was not able to get rid of because I think the door latch just doesn’t close fully. It’s worn out ☹️
@grumpyandroid12 күн бұрын
@@TiltedTripodMedia well if the buzzing only happens when playing cassette it probably the recording bar, it needs to get deoxited, if you don’t wanna open it again try putting in a blank cassette and hit record and stop several times and test the sound again. For the scraping CDs if the door is ok and not crooked and working properly then it’s probably the round metal plate where the cd sits on, just carefully and slowly pry it out with your finger and test it again, but check it first to make sure it’s not bolted on or something but if you’re ok with it and don’t wanna risk it just leave it like that. Hope this helps, I haven’t actually take mine apart so take this advice lightly.

I hope that Roy Rogers expands throughout the rest of the state of Ohio. You said those restaurants are coming to the Cincinnati and Dayton areas. They have to come to Columbus, Cleveland, Toldeo, Akron-Canton, and Youngstown areas. I live outside of Cleveland, I'll take Roy Rogers over McDonald's, Burger King, Wendys, KFC, and Arby's anytime.
@TiltedTripodMedia18 күн бұрын
They are returning to Cincinnati mainly because that’s where the restaurant originated from, and that’s where Roy Rogers was from. But yes, I’m really shocked that the first Roy Rogers to return to Ohio was not in Columbus because that seems to be where everything goes and it’s stupid. This location not far from where I live is constantly busy so I’m sure once they open the rest of the Cincinnati locations they will expand throughout Ohio. They are putting one in northern Kentucky right now it’s being built in Florence Kentucky.
