Great review. For me one of the most important specs of a keychain light is the color rendering index. I often need to see colors as natural as possible. It isn’t helpful to see yellow, white and orange wires in the same look. Unfortunately most cold white leds are horrible for such applications. Another to me important factor is the battery. AAA and AA batteries are everywhere. I tested multiple of the lights shown and others and liked the Beta QRV (non magnetic version) best just because of the excellent light quality with very natural color rendering. The less than 100 Lumens are more than enough for all of my needs. I wish there would be more quality lights using such high quality LEDs

There's now Fenix E03R V2 that is practically twice as powerful and has better battery life. I'm probably going to buy it for my son, I already have one Fenix (other type) for me.

A suggestion: the Fenix light has already been updated with a stronger battery so I don't know the specs on it. I have the newer version and it has a nice advantage: you can keep it on the lowest illuminated setting while you recharge it! That can be handy if you absolutely need some source of light and still have access to a charging port. Also, don't be fooled by the size. At highest mode, it puts out an almost unbelievable 500 lumens. That's basically 20 times brighter than any Mini Maglite!

Honestly, any keychain flashlight that can't put out at least 50 lumens is pretty useless because that's what most phone flashlights can easily provide you with and when do you have your keys on you, but not your phone.
@seren1ty755 Жыл бұрын
Agreed.
@TheDessel9 ай бұрын
That’s somewhat true. The thing is most phones flashlights have little to no light throw. They are good to light something near, and that’s about it. Meanwhile, most good flashlights are decent at that. If you directly compare a well made 50 lumens flashlight with a decent lens project to a regular phone flashlight, it isn’t even close.

Great review, many thanks. I have the Rovy A4 Pro and it has the Cree XP-G3 led which has just a tad og green tint. The current versions uses Luminus SST-20 however the green tint is very evident in the high output version. The Nichia 219c cersion with 450 lms is just wonderful. 👍

Only 4 actually work for carry in the pocket----Olight, Prometheus, and Mecarmy plus Nite Ize. Thought Nite Ize is not good choice compared to other three---as lumen and run time is way lower. All the others have buttons which will be activated and turn on in pocket.

Just bought Rovyvon thanks for the info I am replacing the olight ir2 heads up its a nice light but the internals broke easily the pin that connects the circuit chip to the LED , i will try the warranty but I wouldn’t buy it again , shame it was a nice light but always ended up accidentally on and seems fragile by that twist design, hopefully the new light will hold out

I can’t recommend the fenix e03r have it on my keys and always when I could need it… it’s empty since the button gets pushed in the pocket I guess. And it does not matter if I lock it or not. (Still blinks when locked) Looking this video to find another keychain light.

Nice review. Thanks! I bought Wifey and myself the rather economical and rugged, OLIGHT i1R2, and we couldn't be happier. It is rechargeable and tiny, and it puts out enough light to get an unexpected task accomplished. It has no uber-irritating, rubber charge port cover to fumble around with. And best of all, it has no push button, and therefore has never once gotten turned on accidentally while in my pocket. If you didn't already know this, any keychain light with a push button WILL get turned on in your pocket or purse sooner or later, and this can ruin a battery.

Not sure why I don't see the Maglite Solitaire LED here. Made in America, dirt cheep and built well. I've had a few of them for years. The only thing I've done to them is replace the battery. They're small, light, a great light for a keychain light and are simple to use. What more do you need from a keychain flashlight?
@zero60410 ай бұрын
Because its way too big to be a traditional keychain light, it's at least 2-3 times longer than the ones in the video and nowhere as bright.

importand issues ,with keychain lights, IMO, is durability ,,,the beating from keys in the pocket is relentless ,,, and easy to turn on method / switch .. Imagine you just locked the car,, carry 3 shoping bags on left hand , your backpack on the right,, and you drop something ,, that needs to be seen , and picked up fast//swift , cause there is a mild traffic of cars,..... you need a light , as easy as cheese .... no time for switch + mode searching...
