Same here. (Although I keep the mini-Bic/mini-Clipper in the bag instead of the pockets due to not-quite-daily use.) It is just my opinion I've been doing martial arts for over 30 years. This is why I would not use a paracord neck knife laynard without quick release connectors. This is why some knife companies use chains for knife laynard because they can break before being strangled. Do what you want it is a free country for now.

My EDC pocket knife is a Kershaw 1920 Select Fire. It has a very nice and beefy blade with no serrations. It holds a great edge and sharpens fairly readily. But it fits this video because it has a swing out arm with a 1/4" socket driver. 4 bits are in spring secured, swing out bit holders. It comes with two flat and two Phillips bits, but it'll work with any single ended bits. There's a very short ruler on the swing arm, and the recess it closes into is a bottle opener. Costs about $35, and has a nice strong pocket clip. I'm trying to find a good field knife sharpener. I've tried several. So far, the Work Sharp Field Sharpener is good for my needs. It has two diamond plates, coarse 220 and fine 600. There's a large ceramic rod that rotates to show a coarser and finer surface for honing. There's a very small ceramic rod for sharpening serrations. But the best part is the narrow but serviceable leather strop pre-saturated with green stropping compound. The whole thing is lightweight and compact, and works great on just about anything. I have and carry that Titanium tape measure on a shot bead chain around my neck asking with a tiny 550 lumen RovyVon flashlight with a glow in the dark blue case. One of the light modes is a UV blacklight that makes a good night light that doesn't destroy your night vision. I always have a small Fresnel lens in my wallet for emergency fire starting. If I have my bag, though, I have several fire starting tools and kinds of tinder. I have an odd EDC tools, a Covert Companion lockpick set. I'm a sport lockpicker, so it's fun. But if I must get through a lock, I have the tools. Instead of the bit vault, I have the Budi stick. Holds 6 microSD cards, two phone SIM cards, a short data and charge cable, with a full set of adapters, a microSD reader/writer, and a SIM tray tool. The other end is a small phone stand. It's a little longer than that bit vault, but it has more features.

I realize this video is a year old, and I'm behind the curve here, but my EDC is a Milwaukee Fastback with the screwdriver end. I'm an electrician, and a knife of some sort is almost mandatory, the screwdriver end is a nice bonus for when I climb up a ladder and forget my Klein screwdriver, I just pull out the knife and open the junction box or whatever instead of having to go back down to my tool cart. I found this video because I was looking for tactical pens, a concept I only recently discovered and now I'm intrigued. I may get one, may not, not sure yet. So far I'm leaning toward the Atomic Bear, because it has a built-in flashlight, and as an electrician, I frequently find myself working in the dark. I'm also just an enthusiast of flashlights in general, and have dozens. Hardhat lights, penlights, magnetic work lights, etc. Lights that double as a phone charging bank, you name it, if you want me to just throw money at you and give me a product, put a light on it. One of my favorites is the newish Klein flashlight with built-in laser pointer, my only complaint with it is that the pocket clip is a bit weak, it gets ripped off my side by ductwork hangers and other typical things in a construction environment. It's a bit too bulky to be described as a pocket light, I can't really put it in a shirt pocket, and it often gets left on my truck dashboard even though I like it in theory and spent around $50 on it. I also had some lights I bought at either Harbor Freight or Tractor Supply, I forget which, that I quite liked but weren't very durable. They were these multi-function lights with a yellow plastic body, found them on clearance for like $7, discounted from an original price in the 20s. I loved them when I started using them, because they had a strong magnetic base, could stick them to I-beams, ductwork, sprinkler pipes, whatever to see what I was doing. The first time I dropped one, it held up, and I was pleasantly surprised, even though the battery percentage display got cockeyed. The second time I dropped one, it fell apart. It is technically still usable, the light still works, but the body is in 3 pieces with the internal wires dangling out.

Stuff like the tape measure isn't necessarily key-ring material, but key rings don't have to be the only thing you might attach small tools to. Rather than having a box or pouch for small tools that you keep in a backpack, it strikes me that having a ring for your small tools, perhaps with short cable extensions on some of them, would be a good way to make sure you can't easily lose individual tools just because you've opened their container. You could even attach the ring to your belt (loop) or a backpack strap and use the jangling to forewarn bears and such when out on a trail.

I like the idea of such a small ferro rod. My first thought was for that size you could attach it to a lanyard hole on a knife or sheath. Loop it though like a zipper pull so you can take it off easily and strike it with your knife spine.

While it certainly doesn't look as cool as that Microblade Pill, the Leatherman Brewzer is arguably a better tiny keychain tool. The little prybar/flathead end has a hooked edge that makes it very effective on packages despite not being sharp, its also got a bottle opener and costs just $5. True story: my car once broke down when a hose clamp holding the main air intake onto the engine came loose and the entire inlet hose fell off. The Brewzer was the closest thing I had to a screwdriver and yet managed to tighten everything down enough to get the car running smoothly again.

You had something I think you called a finger protector in a recent edc episode. Can you clarify, and where can I get one? Looks like it is made of rubber or plastic. Rectangular and fits over your fingers.

Did you fire a Walther PPK recently? Your hand looks like it got bit by the slide.

The microblade TI would be good for scoring glass, or heavy line scrimshaw, or as any general scoring tool.

LR1 battery -- alkaline chemistry, disposable, 1.5 VDC nominal, 850 mAh to 1000 mAh when used for hearing aids, but only around 500 mAh when used for flashlights.

Is there an EDC option for keeping a fire going? I see so many solutions in regards of starting a fire, but what if all the wood around you is wet? What do you do then?

I believe the mech army flashlight is also rechargeable if you twist the light more towards off it opens to reveal a micro usb plug in port

Hahahaha, as a knife lover and Swiss, I have to say: this clip holder on the Swiss army knife is absolutely ridiculous! It’s like a saddle for a wild horse.
