This is one of, if not, the best documented HID to LED conversion processes explanation videos I found on KZbin. And the scientific data point analysis and lumen measure afterward is even better than some guy just standing in front of his car saying, “yeah, see it’s brighter now” I hope more people see this video - especially if they have an earlier model vehicle with HIDs and projectirs and don’t want to deal with the expensive bulbs and ballast replacements anymore.

If anyone is on the fence about doing these, do it! I replaced my D2S xenon headlights from my 2016 Golf R with precision LED bulbs and the difference is incredible. The range is twice as far, and it makes the old xenons look like standard halogens with their brightness. Worth every penny

HID systems are typically very reliable, as OEMs will use top quality suppliers. This is my only concern with these. What kind of led chipsets and fans are they using? I did not see anything on the website. Thanks.

Installed on my 2014 V60 with Valeo bi xenon : they are brighter than the HID Osram nightbraker, the beam and cuttof are the same as stock and highbeam are significantly brighter. The color is good and close than stock oem LED (white, slightly blue) Good improvment. Edit : Almost 2 years of use : they work great.

i think it also depends on the orientation of the LED bulbs. usually they come in a vertical orientation when they should be in horizontal orientation in order to maximize the light being reflected off the projector bowls and focused by the projector lens

Great video! I've been wanting to upgrade my car's stock HID bulbs to LED but some of the kits I've seen in the past required you to replace the OEM Ballast. Not something I wanted to do since on my car I have to remove the entire front bumper in order to remove the headlights. I'm so glad they now make a plug and play LED upgrade kit. I will defiantly be upgrading

I am wondering the comparison between new hid 6000k and led 6000k.. tested hid bulb in the video has 6 yrs of usage.. so i am thinking it may not be the best comparison.

Just ordered a pair of D1S for my Bmw e90, it will take time to arrive to Croatia. Will report ones they arrive and after I install them. Paid $142, the set of Osram night breaker laser are $176 in Croatia. So cheaper and I hope better than original HID

@@maxl7827 2 times better than original HiD, color is to my eyes a bit whiter and it luminates perfect on the road. Instant light on switch, not like waiting on warm up of HID's.

@@maxl7827 Go for it, even on the e60 when time comes to replace the bulb. I was a bit sceptic about these, cause I saw a lot videos where led kit's on original xenon can't beat the top of the line Osram night breaker laser D1S, but these are different story. And also, lifetime waranty, replace them now, and you are at peace. Of 7 years of owning my e90, I had to replace the xenon's 2 times, once again for xenons, and now after 3 years with these led's. I like the color otput, it is a bit whiter but not to much, witch is also important for every year car inspection (registration TUV) so they can't bother you for installing led's in HiD housing.

A six year old hid bulb vs a new led bulb? The test was skewed in favour of a particular result. Hid in a stock housing is way better than ANY replacement led.

Yes and if you cause an accident and the insurance company figures out you changed HID to LED (or halogen to LED) you are royally screwed. I upgraded 6 years old xenon lights to new model and the improvement was huge too. So yeah, new bulbs will help too!

It depends on the kit. Some kits require you to bypass the ballast by cutting the power and the ground wire, and splicing the two leads directly to power the bulb. Some the power is pulled through the ballast and then stepped down through the LEDs ballast / resistors, so you still need a functioning ballast.

Yes it is possible, but there is no actual benefit of getting a LED bulb with higher wattage. The ballast will only give a maximum of 35W.

My questions, the HID wattage 35w seems to be the benchmark for most low beam non-projector shutter housing. It's possible a higher wattage HID and kalvin rating could yield the same output, lux. A 55w HID and a 5000k to 6000k rating should be tested for a better comparison. A 4300k HID is yellowish in appearance and overused by OEM manufacturers. I generally replace all halogens or incandescent with LEDs it's unfortunate than most LED conversions are all 6,000K or higher, I personally would prefer a 5000K LED but they just don't exist. 55W is a lot brighter than 35W xenon. If a xenon bulb goes beyond 5000k it starts to lose brightness. The 4300k-5000k area is the most effective and brightest for xenon bulbs

@@maxl7827 That is my point, a 55w HID should be tested and different Kalvin rating. In the video this test appears to be a 4300 Kelvin and most likely a 35 watt hid compared to the LED.

Love the discussion. In general 55W Xenon systems runs hotter in HID projector housings and are not as common so for general testing, we use the more common 35W Xenon vs LED to compare.

So does it bypass or use the original HIS ballast? My ballasts keep blowing and ruining bulbs and it’s a whole bumper dismantle to replace so I’m over the hassle and want to completely replace the OG low beam headlight system with LEDs

VLEDS kit works without the ballast. I got it on my 09 TSX

We offer replacement D series LEDs that use the stock HID ballast for power. if your HID ballast keeps blowing, you might want to consider a different style of kit, but that usually requires a different headlight housing that is compatible with more common bulb types like H1, H11, or 9006. happy to provide more detail, just email or help@ address.

Not my experience. LEDs are crap man. I have no illumination down the road. Unbelievably I went back to Halogen until I figure out my next move.
