In 2 short months, y'all have found an electrician, started on the demo/renovation of the electrics in a 300+ Chateau, plus renovating a gite for guests, getting the dogs comfortable in your new home, meeting neighbors, going brocanting, dealing with a new country's policies, (has anyone told you that France basically shuts down in August?) Y'all are amazing! And Patrick you are the cutest 6'5 energizer bunny ever! I love watching y'all together. I am so happy the neighbors are making y'all feel welcome! I can't wait to learn more about the chateau and see the gite! John the electrician will get used to the camera...lol He might even start his own channel, like Dan. Good morning Patrick & Stuart, oh happy days! Your lives now seem very happy and relaxed and the dogs are always just chilling. They are so gorgeous. The flower detail on the fire mantel is so beautiful how a stone mason can design such a mould is fascinating, love the detail on the panels. How lovely to meet your neighbours in such a kind way, just what you needed!! Is the door knob worth saving, we will see after the polishing. It's horrible when you have to rely on somebody else, when you are not in control to do. Well, we do not all have the same values in life, so therefore, we will suffer at intervals. Hope the gate arrives shortly, maybe you should give the party a little poke in the side and just ask. what's happening? Everything is coming together in a real fun way. Do take care, have happy days with fun and laughter, love the jars can imagine the contents inside, do some canned tomatoes for the winter stews. Many blessings kind regards.

My dear Lords of the Château de Colombe, you certainly know how to treat old wood well and with respect. And congratulations on finding an 18th century Louis XVI mantlepiece in one of your sheds. Superbe 👌And the good news is, it can be restored by filling the gaps with a mixture of marble powder. No doubt you'll find a spot for it in the château to replace a less beautiful mantlepiece!

My dear Robert. Thank you so much. I guess we try to treat wood like we might want to be treated in our old age (we are getting close). The mantle will be repaired and we will see where it fit. It might have come from the hunting lodge of the chateau? It will, as you said, be in the chateau, replacing some less pretty one. How are you holding up? Be happy and stay cool! Hugs

Guys this episode had me at the STUNNING table top transformation. Glorious! But, Oh, that mantle find? Oh my heart. That it true treasure. Such a blessing. But I'm a huge homebody geek - the jars and the steamer stole it for me. I have heard the stories of sloe gin. Don't forget the apricot (or blackberry) brandy - just saying. You have options. Of course a big 'sack' of tomatoes?? Honestly this episode had it ALL. Did you see the tiles Anna made for the backsplash in Anna and Phillip's chateau kitchen? Have you thought about using Stuart's toile on tiles? Pattern repeats etc. I was surprised you didn't excise and repair the burnt patch on the old table top. You'll have to invent a plausible story for it. Great vlog, this week.
