Hidden Bar is like Bartender…but free

To enable the ‘Always Hidden’ feature, you need to add the Hidden Bar to your login items and restart your Mac. Then, simply right-click on the vertical lines, and the hidden icons will appear.

Many of these apps stopped updating when the notch 14”/16” macs hit the scene as with this, it still hides below the notch. Hence this app hasn’t been updated in 2 years.

Hidden bar is great but i switched to bartender when i got setapp and the one thing that makes a huge difference for me is the keyboard shortcut to search for and bring up any menu bar item.

I’ve never gotten it to always hide either. It’s actually one of the main reasons I still use Bartender.

⌥ + Click on the chevron toggles and opens up the space where you can drag items you never want to see

I assume "Always Hidden" signifies that, even when the task icon is activated, it won't be displayed outside the "Hidden" and "Always Hidden" menus. For instance, if a Time Machine backup is in progress, it will appear outside the "Hidden" menu, but not if it has been placed in the "Always Hidden" section.

Hiddenbar sucks. No Focus mode Focus Filters. No multiple menu bar set ups. No item groups. No triggers. So to Say Hidden Bar is like Bartender is a big assss stretch.

For the primary use case (decluttering the menu bar), it is just like Bartender. All of what you mentioned are power user features.
