Sarah, the caves… Wow! I live in Australia and have been to many coastal part around the Northern part of our country and we have almost hardly any caves. At least where I have been. I find these caves soooo cool and they a re magical to me. What a walking journey you are having. It’s incredible. This is definitely a really fun hike!…. What an understatement. It’s so beautiful there. Are you getting really nimble footed by now. So much walking. The views are breathtaking, looking out along those cliffs, I want to be there. I didn’t like that drop. But all so interesting..What’s around the next corner? That painting of the cliffs caught the expanse of the view beautifully. Thank you again for taking us on these walks. So grateful.

Beautiful Sarah... I have been catching up on your videos and really enjoying your journey. You are far braver than I! Those heights make me dizzy. I have been struggling to resume painting and drawing but your wonderful scenery is inspiring. I hope you don't mind I tried my first watercolour sketch in a very long time a few days ago from one of your videos. I haven't had the heart to do any artwork since the sudden passing of my hubby in July... but your videos are so wonderful I am trying to resume some sort of normality to my life again. Thank you so much for that.

I wish I could hug you! Of course it’s OK and I’m glad my scenery inspired you to pick up the brush. Painting can be very relaxing and healing. I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you find a way back to your art, until then, enjoy the scenery 💙

Stunning Sarah! I was in Southampton on the south coast of England the other week and was reminded of my childhood trips to The Isle of Skye- not because of the scenery because it’s quite different but because of the smell of the sea, the seaweed and the salty sea air! It was wonderful. I’d love to go back someday but in the meantime, I’m really enjoying watching your travels and the scenery you so generously share with us! 😊

Oh Sarah, this is delightful. Some of these remind me of the Oregon coast we visit frequently and I always bring my paints too. My favorites are rocks with eroded passageways or tunnels, and painting the west coast lighthouses. Before I retired, I had days off during the week and would hike weekly in the Sierras, swim in the lakes, paint. So I understand how nice it is to hike in solitude sometimes. Very meditative and close to nature. Hope you have a tide table app on that phone…..
@sarahinscotland2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have a tide app, it’s been (literally) a life saver! Time can kind of escape your thoughts while hiking, so I have to make an effort to check the app a lot. Or at least memorise the high/low times and base my decisions on that.

I grew up mile inland from Covesea, the white building is Gordonstoun lookout tower, used by Gordonstoun Sea cadets. There’s two ways to Sculptors Cave short rope abseil, only 8 feet or walk in at low tide. You can do the whole coast from Lighthouse to Hopeman at a low Springtide, it does involve some rock hopping along the coastline.

I think I’d do the longer walk, just because I’m scared to use the rope!

Love the coastal videos, but as someone who is incredibly scared of heights, I had a tough time watching a couple of sections lol. Just got back from vacation where I hiked along the coast every day. I was doing it with only my phone to look after, not a backpack full of supplies. I took a TON of photos to use for painting references, hopefully they’ll tide me over until my next vacation. I enjoy the videos where you show your snack/meal at the end so I know you’ve rewarded yourself with a nice treat for all that effort! You haven’t topped the French toast yet ;) Seeing someone in the background wearing a parka with a fur-lined hood makes me think some people have a different definition of “cold weather” than I have. 15 degrees is not that chilly… perfect hiking weather anyway!
