@@chrismachabee3128 the movie name is "Hidden Blade" (Kakushi ken oni no tsume) 2004 directed by Yōji Yamada, I suggest you if you like it, to find the other two movies of the same art director "The Twilight Samurai" (Tasogare Seibei) 2002 and "LOve and Honor" (Bushi no Ichibun)2006, it is my favorite trilogy about samurai intimate stories, you can also try to find Ame Agaru (after the rain) 1999 based on the last film script by Akira Kurosawa and directed by is leggendary assistent Tadashi Koizumi, sorry for my english :D

didn't use poison or they will know the reason he died. if you see the whole movie, in the end, they don't know the reason he died. They guess somebody assassinated him with something sharp. The samurai then hid the weapon on the grave of the samurai he killed. If I remember correctly.

There are two huge blood vessels that run between the lungs and either side of the heart. Aorta and vena cava. An upward slash through that region (just below the rib cage) is gonna hit something vital. A sharp drop in blood pressure is what caused the 'pause' before reacting...the victim is suddenly dizzy and tries to steady themselves.

the next scene is the retaiers calling a doctor, who can only confirm the death because of a very tiny stab wound straight to the heart. When placing a kerchief against the chest only a droplet of blood stains it, yet the doctor strongly advices them _against_ moving the body aound, as (and I quote) "there's surely a sea of blood inside"

I wonder how the hero could get away with it. Put two and two together and it's clear who did it! Minister dies, they recognize the wound, Katagiri was seen nearby, everybody knew who possessed this technique, and suddenly he retires and flees the town 😏 I mean I'm happy for him, but in real life it's not so easy. Especially among shrewd japanese people.

But they didn't know what the technique was nor what blade was used. Even his friend that Katagiri killed didn't even know what the technique looked like. When the autopsy was done, the stab wound was so small they couldn't believe it was done by a human blade. What happened basically defied common sense and so they thought it was something else than assassination.
