I JB'd rusted out axel splines on a Honda Fourtrax 250 to rusted out splines hubs. They held for 5 years, could do wheelies NP ; until someone stole it. To remove a hub to make a repair I had to aggressively heat it with an acetylene torch and hammer on it. Good luck to whoever's has it now.

I got suspicious my Walbro 45A carb might be leaking after watching this video because when working on it I'd rotated the fuel inlet thinking it was meant to rotate. When pressure checking in water just the slightest pump pressure caused lots of bubbles to come out of the carb's venturi area. There appeared to be no restriction at all. I opened up metering side of the carb and found the needle lever was stuck all the way down! I didn't think the diaphragm could make that kind of long distance movement! I worked on the needle to un stick and pressed to the lever to stick it down a few times. When trying to get the FS66 to run at speed I'd tried in desperation to raze the needle lever to get more fuel. Not that much as it turned out just the width of the lever's metal thickness above the carb. body frame. I've now bent it to be flush with the carb body, which appears to be the stock setting. I wouldn't have checked the carb with pressure under water without this video! The trimmer refused to restart after one tank of fuel after replacing the crankshaft shaft seals. Shihl had stopped suppling the seals for an FS66 so I got generic double lip seals of the same dimensions. I had thought maybe there was something very special about the. Shihl seals because going one tank of fuel before seals with seals not up to the task was probably expected behavior. When pressure checking the engine the seals past the soap bubble test with 20 psi so they appeared good. I found a leak around the fuel pump pulse channel between the cylinder and the carburetor block when pressure testing the engine with soap bubbles. I order a NOS gasket from eBay because Shihl had stopped suppling this gasket. My guess is the trimmer wouldn't start because of the stuck metering needle causing it to be flooded. There were no bubbles around the fuel supply inlet even with a high pump pressure. Its a simple basket ball pump so it doesn't actually give pressure. I'm guessing I put a at least 10 psi. I couldn't unseat the needle.

My husqvarna 562xp after running hard on a large cedar and not getting much of a brake(because we needed to get the boom lift back to the renters) started cutting out and dying when I would try to let it idle. Also couldn't get it started without holding down the throttle or letting it sit and choking it and starting it like normal. Then it would run until I pulled the trigger and immediately die. It was run on husqvarna's recommended gas that they sell. Sometimes I can get it to start like normal and it runs for a few seconds without any choke then it dies. Any ideas? It was broken in last year.

IMO quality of both brands is good. I have the 445 and after two or three hours of cutting it starts to get really heavy. I think stihl makes lighter products. I can not complain about ten years of trouble free service from the 445.

The CRC contact cleaner is also a GREAT multi purpose cleaner. It seems to be a little slower drying. The "cheep shjt" carb cleners dont seem to have the oil residue problem. Usually. But you can always test on some cardboard if curious. Greasy residue will leave a slightly oily spot.

@philipmartin26913 жыл бұрын
Probably debris around the block and or air passages to the block. Use the right oil and oil mixture ratio.
One day my weed whacker started leaking, it was just lying in my truck, it always ran well, and it isn't that old. I tried to order a carb kit thinking a diaphram was broken, but the cost was ridiculous. The carb is a bit unusual so none of the China replacement are the same. I think I might do a pressure test too, it could be just started the same type of leak.
