Hidden Cave in Sri Lanka | TOP 3 things to do in Ella!

Never in our wildest dreams did we expect to find hidden cave in Sri Lanka! The Nil Diya Pokuna (Blue Water Pond) was a cave that was discovered in the last 2 decades in the hills of Ella however has so much of history buried within it.
Glad to be back with a travel vlog for our This Is Sri Lanka series after quite a long hiatus thanks to the ongoing situation on the island. we were fortunate to get some work with the Tourist board of Sri Lanka which required us to film in the hills of Sri Lanka. so naturally we took the opportunity to make a few vlogs too :)
In this vlog we explore things to do in Ella (Nil Diya Pokuna, Nine Arch bridge, Demodara loop) whilst staying at the beautiful Nine Skies villa by teardrop hotels.
Also please do travel when it is safe to travel once again and take all necessary precautions to ensure that your loved ones and those around you are safe during these uncertain times.

do you need to be really fit to climb up from the cave? Video is amazing. Great that you shared story of the 9 arch bridge and it's builder. That man definitely deserves a credit!

Hey Lidka! yes you do need to be quite fit to hike through the cave. specially if you are going to carry a bag. lot of crouching and climbing required. however it is not too bad if you are used to hiking. and yes sadly many do not know the story of 9 arch bridge

Hey Devin, unfortunately there was no such service that we knew of at the time, I am told at the AA (Automobile association) has such a program as well as some of the rent a car services. Will do a bit more looking into is as it would definitely be of use for all travelers.

We scored a travel pass during the inter-provincial lockdown to film project for the Sri Lanka :) Majority of the sites we visited to film were empty due to the current situation. As sad as it was to see for all those reliant on tourism locally. it was also an extremely refreshing sight to see places like 9 arch bridge completely empty :O
