Ahhh hidden gems have always been the best kind of gems! Especially in a spot of the world which receives much less attention than others! I come to expect you finding the coolest little drinking spots by now, and you really didn't disappoint! Beasutiful gardens too, very luxury spot!

I was in Richmond in February of this year. But I only spend one night at a fellow KZbinrs house to get ready to go to Cumberland Island. 😁 So nice to get a view on the place now!

taking my kids on a trip to Richmond in about a month- definitely plan to see Maymont, the Canal Walk, Science Museum, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and the Capitol Building... We will only be there for four nights, so we will be cramming in as much stuff as we can! I feel like there's some stuff we're going to miss though - on the b-list is Mural hunting, Byrd Park, Belle Isle, Hollywood cemetery and Historic St John's church. I wish we had an entire week, there is really so much to see. My only concern with Maymont is that my knees give me issues sometimes, and I'll have a five-year-old in tow. I've heard that the paths can get kind of steep and hilly. Curious your thoughts on if it would be better to split that up into two adventures? (Park near the farm one day. Park near the gardens on another day?)
@AdventuresOfATravelingDon Жыл бұрын
That would probably be a good idea. Yes the areas between the farm, the visitors center and the mansion all have a sort of valley between them. You also have to go down a long set of stairs to get to the Japanese garden. It's something I'd try and plan out. There are multiple parking places around the whole grounds. You could do it all in one day just, park near each of the main areas and then go back and drive to the next parking area for the next segment instead of doing the long walk between them.
