My dad met Buford right before he had his accident at a police convention in Vienna I'll .my dad was a deputy sheriff for a nieghboring county. He said Buford was a good sheriff as long as you didn't break the law. He'd give you a break if you did right. My dad was 6'4" tall he said Buford was at least 6'8" if not taller

My father-in-law was a TN state trooper back then and he and Mr. Pusser were good friends. He told all kind of things about Mr. Pusser. He said he was a good man and person.

This is really interesting - I never knew that this was the guy that the movie was named after and based on! I remember when the movie came out. I was young, I think in grade school, and I remember it really bothering me that there were people in the world who were as mean as the people were in the movie, and then my dad told me that the movie was based on a true story....then I was terrified. Thanks Dad! Lol, but seriously, I never knew any of this stuff, so thanks for doing this! Great work!

In 1962 there was ZERO Moonshine arrest in McNairy County In 1963 there was ZERO Moonshine arrest in McNairy County In 1964 Pussball busted 42 Moonshine stills and Arrested 80 men That would be 2 men per moonshine still and in some cases only one single man. They were ALL Local McNairy County Boys . In 1965 Pussball did the exact same thing according to the McNairy County Court documents and records . Then Hollywood Hype made a movie and invented the Tennessee Mob or Dixie Mafia that he was this great man . Before he even came back to McNairy County he joined the Military and didn't even make it through boot camp and was kicked out . Then he joined the Fake wrestling and couldn't make it and he was again kicked out . He then married a woman named Pauline who had 2 children by another man , that's right those kids in the movie wasn't his either . Then he came running home to mama and became Sheriff because the former Sheriff died of a heart attack and not like it happened in the movie . Now there is a list of other things but I'm too busy to list it , BUTT ! ITS NO WHERE CLOSE TO WHAT HAPPENED ! ITS ALL HOLLYWOOD HYPE WITH ADDED DRAMA AND EXCITEMENT! and you better watch it again at the beginning , it says based on Certain Events It doesn't say True Story !

Pauline was just exhumed for an autopsy. It is suspected Pusser killed her due to new evidence. She was exhumed February 8th 2024. TBI is investigating and recovered guns belonging to Pusser. The way he died makes me believe if he killed her karma got him.

30 plus years ago( shortly after the first movie came out) a friend of mine, claiming he grew up with Beaufort, told me that the Walking Tall movie was as far from the truth as possible. In reality ( according to my friend) Beaufort was operating his own white lightning stills and the larger more ruthless mobsters were cutting into his profits. He then became Sheriff using his authority to attempt to destroy his competitors. After many failed attempts on his life and his “beloved” wife’s attempts to get Beaufort to leave the life of crime( she went as far as threatening to notify the FBI about his corruption activities) he derived a plan to solve his problems. He made a pact with the very mobsters he was enemies with, that if they’d kill his wife then he’d join forces with them and allow them to conduct business as usual. The mob agreed to kill his wife ( that’s why she went with him that fateful night). Do the sad reality that there’s no honor among thieves, the mob saw this as an opportunity to eliminate Beaufort as well. That’s why Beaufort retaliated. Then comes the death of Beaufort. He died a mysterious death in his Corvette that he as Sheriff couldn’t have afforded. As Paul Harvey would have said “that’s the rest of the story!”
