No one gives a rip about reviews any more. Rotten Tomatoes has lost ALLLL credibility with the public. To know if anything is worthwhile or not you have to watch it for yourself. Costner is a true American original and even if I don't like every movie he does, I'm glad to support his efforts.

I agree 100%! I’m so invested in his story and want to see what happens with each character. I had already marked August 16th (the original Part 2 release date) in my calendar. I’m hoping we not only get to see Part 2 eventually, but Parts 3 & 4 as well.

Costner’s “Americana” films and film scores ring through time: #1 DWW, #2 FieldOD, #3 Bodyguard. Let’s hope Horizon does the same and that Hollyweird and audiences will both appreciate it. It’s crunch time for Costner to spell out HIS ultimate vision for Am in “film-story language”. 📽️🤪👍🏼👏🏽

He hasn't been a Box Office draw since his string of flops in the later 1990's. It was almost borderline delusional to think a movie directed by and starring him would succeed. Kevin Costner is great but to think in a world where Timothee Chalamet and Austin Butler are the main box office draws and the middle aged actors on steroids that do Marvel movies (Chris-types, Ryan-types, and Wrestler types) having their last box office hurrah before they get too old and become relegated to playing "the old guy in that movie" where a modern star is really the lead and they're just the old guy with a couple scenes. Ironically, Costner was that younger actor at one point with old time legends like Burt Lancaster and Sean Connery playing the "old guy" in his movies like Field Of Dreams and The Untouchables where he probably thought he was on top of the world. Now it's his turn to play "random old guy" with a couple scenes in a movie where Timothee Chalamet, Austin Butler, or Glen Powell are really the leads and he's just a side character. It's sad, but that's the unfortunate brutal truth of how Hollywood works. At this point, he should be lucky if he gets a best supporting actor Oscar for one of those "random old guy whose name you might know" in a movie vehicle for a modern hip star of today. I really wanted Horizon to succeed, but I knew it wouldn't from the get-go honestly.

@@davidpearlactorteacherbizman You misunderstand me, I like Kevin Costner better than any modern "it star" today, but I'm being cynical and somewhat blunt about why Horizon unfortunately flopped. There's a reason why Dune 2 made a Billion dollars and Horizon flopped immediately. It's just the unfortunate changing of times. Whether we like it or not. You can find comments of me on various Kevin Costner western videos like Open Range praising how it's one of my favorite films of the past few decades, but that doesn't change the fact that it's now 2024, Kevin Costner is not the It-actor that the modern generation want to go see in Dune or remakes of Wonka or whatever else they make nowadays. I'm sorry again, but I definitely am not bashing Costner himself, I'm bashing the industry and saying what Kevin Costner's agent and advisors should have told him before he lost millions of dollars self funding his own project that was never gonna succeed. I feel sad knowing how happy Costner was to talk about the movie theater experience when in reality, movie theaters are dying and the only movies the majority of people go to see now are superhero movies, though thankfully they're beginning to go away and whatever movie the "hip" actors of today make. I'm hoping the movie theater can be revived to its fullest yet again, but I highly doubt it with all the technological changes of the past few decades.

I thank Madonna for insulting Kevin Costner in her truth or dare documentary back in the day, The bodyguard would have been the biggest flop if Madonna was casted as the original leading actress. Costner went with his second choice and it was the best decision he ever made. The Bodyguard Soundtrack was and still is the biggest Massive LP Movie Sound Track of all time surpassing the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in sales. When you hire David Foster, Diane Warren as the leading producers and writers of some of Whitney Houston’s biggest all time hits magic happens. 30 years later I am still the biggest fan who appreciates all the music produced in that mega blockbuster of a movie

It's a shame Horizon flopped immediately and Part 2, 3, and 4 will only be on streaming services and not in theatres. Kevin Costner had a lot of faith and enthusiasm in his movies but the times change, and today's movie audience won't go to see Costner lead his own movie. It's not the 1990's anymore. That's the brutality of Hollywood. If Horizon had starred Austin Butler or Timothee Chalamet, it would have made hundreds of millions of dollars at the Box Office. Sadly, that's the blunt honesty of show business. And for what's it worth, any of the "It-Actors" of today will all be struggling for any box office numbers when they're Kevin's age now as well, if they're even relevant in movies at all by then. Hollywood and the film industry can be downright brutal, unfortunately. And no, I don't even think it has to do with the fact that Horizon is a western. I truly believe there will always be an audience for them, even if they'll never reach the status they once had in the Golden Age Of Hollywood. For example, Young Guns was made in theblate 80's when the Western genre was all but completely dead. But since it starred actors from the "Brat Pack" who were the It-actors of that era, the audience then flocked to see it and it was a huge success. This is just one of many examples. Just my take. At the end of the day, we don't even know if movie theatres will even exist in a couple decades. My opinion is that they won't anymore. Sadly, Costner's hope that Horizon would be a box office movie theatre success was nothing more than a Pipe Dream, even though I really wanted it to be very successful as well.

Ask him if Horizons is a passion project to his face, he’ll come unglued. Whitney Houston was the big name on The Bodyguard, not Kevin Costner. He was a solid name in Hollywood back then, but Whitney was huge. She was at the top, that movie was hinged on Whitney and it pushed Costner over the top. His ego has been dragging him down ever since.
@marklemont37353 ай бұрын
He had the foresight to cast Whitney and have her sing Dolly Parton’s song. He has vision. I don’t see it as a vanity project for him. It was a great film which addressed many things.

Used to like Costner, but after how he did Yellowstone and the fans of that show by leaving it because he wanted to go play on his passion project, no thanks. He could have given the show a proper ending then did the movies but he chose not to. Then Horizon wasn’t that great and a letdown honestly so he should have stuck with Yellowstone. Yellowstone is dead now because he just waltzed out. Made a crappy decision there. Not to mention the film flopped, probably because it was only so so at best

He's an imperfect person just like you, but did you actually go and look at all the charities he works with and the awards he's won for the work he's done to help people with Parkinson's? People do care about his movie otherwise you wouldn't be commenting. Say something accurate. And as a person putting all his money on the line to make films he's employing a lot of people at his own risk helping them learn about a business so they can have an entire career. That's what creators and entrepreneurs do and people should be expected to work and earn money and not get handouts that are not warranted. Look at all the celebrities who gave away too much money trying to "help people" who took them for a ride and then the celebrity ended up broke and unable to help anyone.
@lyndajamrozik47863 ай бұрын
@@KellyAlbright-tg9kz I appreciate your perspective but still not enough to give him a pass for spending millions on a long winded Western when he could funnel all that dough for more philanthropic recipients - a lot of people could benefit from his time and energy instead of his reason for making his film so his son could get the role of a lifetime. I’d be embarrassed to admit that …. Hollywood !!! 🙄😵💫
