Don't you want to experience the unique local charm of Busan, different from Seoul?
Being disappointed with tourist spots in Busan, I came up with an interesting idea.
'Why not go to places with as few tourists as possible?!'
So, I started visiting places that only Busan locals go to.
In this video, I have introduced some of them.
Will these places be as charming as tourist spots?
Let’s find out!
If you'd like to know more about Busan, check out the book here:

I really enjoyed and learned a lot from your vlogs of South Korea. May I know the name of the last restaurant you visited in this video coz will be travelling solo this coming October. Thanks very much and more power to your channel.

yes, type in "보수동 건강탕제원" on google maps, but you'll need to make a reservation prior to your visit. As the owner may not be able to assist you in English, have someone who speak Korean help you.

Hello and thanks for the excellent video, we look forward to viewing many more. We will be in Korea and Busan soon and would really like to know the name of the restaurant where you got ten dishes. I'm always on the lookout for the absolute best in local cuisine and this looks absolutely perfect but I fear that it'll be very difficult to find. Thanks in advance. Cheers!

I visited Seoul in 2023 and wanted to visit Busan but sadly due to unforseen circumstances, that visit had to be cancelled. Planning on visiting in 2025 and I know that there is a ferry from Busan to Japan. I'll make sure to visit your recommended spots before going to Japan. Thank you for highlighting these little unknown but interesting places.

This becomes the issue tho. Over tourism makes many places worse. So you show us somewhere hidden gem. Now these hidden gems are exposed to inundation of tourists looking for the authentic experience. Can that monorail handle hundreds or thousands tourists a day and still serve the local elderly population? If its local use only, won't they feel like theyre living in a zoo again, with foreigners watching them use it? Can that restaurant still be accessed by locals if theres hundreds waiting to be seated? Will the price stay low and the quality stay high when theres so much pressure? The lovely owner can only do so much. Its "gatekeeping" to keep these places as secrets. But can they survive being exposed? I want hidden gems and good deals and wonderful authentic experiences. I want to be respectful and appreciate what life is like as a local. But I'm a tourist. Tourists are legion.

thanks for your comment. yes, it's valid point indeed. Nonetheless, I wanted to let broader audience be aware that these touristy spots aren't the only possible destinations when traveling to Busan. It is up to local government to wisely gatekeep the community and at the same time share the fruits from tourism with the residents. I hope the buzz around top spots such as Gamcheon village would diminish to a certain extent, so that other spots get noticed and visited instead.

Honestly as a tourist/student that has visited some of Seans recommendations I think Korea already has a lot of systems in place where for example restaurant owners can take measures to keep at least short term tourists out. As a European for example the catchtable app is unavailable to me and if I did not have a ARC I could not use the service at all. So Restaurant Owners can just require reservations with a system like that and will be fine. On the other hand, if you say you do not want even foreigners living in korea long term, speaking korean, in these spots, that is mighty suspicious. However I agree that the people that go to these local place need to have manners and behave properly, as would be expected of any korean.
