Kim Satgat Rice House is abit far away from Seoul. Can you recommend a good place similar within Seoul city? Thank you
@abitdifferentkoreans10 ай бұрын
Despite the distance, I highly recommend visiting Kim Satgat for the best experience, but you can visit this one as a distant alternative: maps.app.goo.gl/A1Ez1ZNkF1yiTKmF8

thanks for letting me know. As I've checked the latest info, the tea house has recently announced that it will be closed for the next 2 years. I'll also make a note on my pinned comment on the top.

Just subscribed. Really enjoying the content. Look forward to more as we will be there in June Do you have a recommendation for noraebang bar that isnt only private rooms (like open mic)
@abitdifferentkoreans9 ай бұрын
thanks for visiting my channel~ maybe it's a cultural difference, but I haven't seen any open karaoke bar with open mic. I guess it's because Koreans are not used to mustering up their courage to sing in front of others. All noraebangs in Korea are private room based ones. If you're ok with regular noraebangs, pls refer to the one I addressed in this episode: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqrFi5WsaMx4i7ssi=am3M2X3yYVkW4lJn

I just came across your channel and it's really great as it shows a local perspective and knowledge! One issue is that google translate can't translate the Korean words of the restaurants and just by going on you saying the name of the restaurant, is very difficult to find the locations. Can you share the locations with google map links or names please? Specifically for the first one, I really want to try that place! Thank you

Loving your informative channel. I love korean food and i find it hard to come across information and restaurants while researching for the more traditional foods that i cant find in western countries. I like to ask how do you call the cuisine you get at the Kim satgat rice house, i know that there are places that come with a set menu with a tonne of traditional banchan (a whole table spread) and its linked to royal dining? ive watched korean food programs that have visited those types of restaurants but i can never find the name of that type of cuisineso that i can search it up.
@abitdifferentkoreans10 ай бұрын
thanks for watching. The type is called Hanjeongsik(한정식). Although I highly recommend visiting Kim Satgat for the best experience, you can check out Gomijeong (located in Yeonhui-dong) as an alternative as well.

Yeah I cannot wait to try them all! Do you know if there is a Problem going alone to some of these spots? I am a student and a lot of other students seem to be more interested in soju than nice food^^
@abitdifferentkoreans10 ай бұрын
Hi there~ unfortunately, most of these spots are highly sought after restaurants among locals, so I think they may not accept a solo customer. However, suadang, donut jungsu, and cupbop street are for anyone. Alaseojuneunjib is a place for soju with your friends fyi.

Hello thank you for the video. I think too much food is served per person. I would share it with someone else 😀. Still I’ll try all of them. I have one question by the way: Is it common to tip the waiters or is it taken wrong in Korea? If giving a tip is ok, how much (per cent) would be appropriate? Thank you again
@abitdifferentkoreans10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. If you're given 'proper service', you can tip though it's not expected. For example, if a staff cooks meat at your table, you can tip, but simply bringing food to your table isn't considered a tippable service here.

Where would you reccomand to stay for a 1 week trip to Seoul?
@abitdifferentkoreans10 ай бұрын
In fact, regardless of where you choose to stay, it's almost 1 hour distance from one another as long as it's within Seoul. With that, you can freely choose your accommodations. Nonetheless, the top areas are Hongdae, Jongro, Gangnam, and Seongsoo, FYI. I also plan to upload a video on such topic soon, so stay tuned!

Hi Cafe donut jongsu according to goggle search is permanently closed. Is it still open?
@abitdifferentkoreans10 ай бұрын
Yes I've checked again. It is open. Google map in Korea doesn't reflect the up to date information. I recommend using Naver Map instead.
