You should go to Summerville, many historic ruins there. Also, many historic houses and nice restaurants to eat at. Houses worth looking at are all over but my favorite is the pink house on East Richardson going towards Ladson.

Drive up to Fountain Inn and Simpsonville. Both are nice small towns with lots to do. I found a cool arcade museum in Simpsonville.

Graniteville, South Carolina is a unique place to visit. It is an old textile town that was built as a paternalistic mill town. The mill owned almost everything in the town and a lot of the old mills, houses, and infrastructure still stands. There was a tragic train accident in 2005 that killed nine people there and eventually shuttered most of the remaining mills. I worked there myself in college and had multiple generations of my family that worked there at one time or another. Really cool history and a "forgotten" part of the south.

Thank you so much for highlighting my home state of South Carolina. Born in Sumter, family originally from Charleston. My grandfather had a cotton farm in Cope, South Carolina. Our summers were spent on his farm with the simple things in life, picking watermelons, and if you dropped it on the way back to the farmhouse you had to eat the whole thing. Scratching the pigs and sows backs with long sticks, and running from the cows, which , by the way, can run fast! He let us drive his tractor and his 65 candy apple red mustang that only got driven once a week to his church named Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church. I live in a big city now, but will never forget my childhood there. I'm very proud to be from South Carolina, love to brag about it whenever I can!

Adam, I so enjoy these videos. I was born in 1952 and some of these places take me back to my childhood. I also think of the lives that used to keep those places alive. Those old stores in the small towns was the only place to buy your groceries back then. There was one in our town when I was a child. Those places and lives so busy then sit so lonely now. OMG!!! You have solved a mystery for me. A few years ago we were traveling to VA and somehow got off track somewhere near the Mall of Georgia in Buford Ga and ended up off the beaten path and saw this ethereal structure. We slowed down a bit to check it out but since we were already lost and on a time schedule we didn’t take time to drive up to check further. It looked like an old castle so I searched for castle ruins in that area on the internet for years and came up with nothing. We didn’t even remember what city we were in because we were lost. We are definitely going back to check it out. And it’s all thanks to you Adam🥰😃. If you’re ever back in the middle Georgia area shout me out. Happy trails!

This town is far north of Buford, but do you think it was Helen in White County? I live in Cumming half a hour north of Buford, don’t remember any castle ruins. Perhaps Barnsley Resort near Adairsville? Or Chateau Elan near Braselton. Just thinking of what could look like a castle, sometimes wineries/wedding venues are designed like a castle

I've been to Sheldon Church many times but there was never a fence around it, so that's new. It's probably been 6 or 7 years since I've been there but you used to be able to freely walk around the ruins wherever you wanted.

I remember driving through the backroads of South Carolina four years ago when the interstate was backed up. I drove through several small towns and I remember thinking that I felt like I was in a horror movie cause the road I was on there was no one but me and there were houses that were falling down and abandoned rusted out cars everywhere. I remember driving through Cordova and I have a few photos on my phone where I took photos of a strange small building with a coffee pot on the roof and the inside was filled with nothing but dolls set up at tables like they were enjoying a meal. Like a very big doll house for a kid. I remember thinking how weird that was. I do have to say I did meet some very friendly people driving through those small towns that day. Nice to see you smash the water bottle again like old times. You saw a very pretty sunset.

Columbia is near my hometown, Camden, SC's oldest inland city. Lots of neat Revolutionary War sites around the area, and the Quaker Cemetery dates back to 1759. US Hwy 1 runs right through the center of town. 👍🙂

Beautiful sunset, there is healing spring water in Ashe County, NC at Shatley Springs Restaurant, it runs 24/7 also and it has the best taste and is also free just bring your container or they sell empty jugs there. Love your videos!!!

You'll want to use Lexington as a Hub. So much road construction and traffic along I20 and I26. You can use Two Notch Rd and HWY 1 to move parallel to I20 as well as Platt Springs/ Pond Branch Rd. Can intersect the 3 with SC-6, LongsPond (Exit 51 I20), CalksFerry, Pond Branch Rd. (Exit 44 I20). Columbia and West Columbia are always hard to move through because of traffic. The accommodations will be better out of Lexington County and the risks of your vehicle or self being accosted are lower.

Yemassee was where thousands of recruits disembarked from trains for the final leg of the trip to Parris Island. A lovely place to have a vacation, I might add. And Bull was probably that woman's maiden name, there are folks with that name in North and South Carolina.

Glad you stopped by Wally’s at 17:11! My grandparents are actually neighbors of his and his house is full of more old signs. His porch has this super old coca cola machine that still works and takes coins, if you’re in the area definitely come to his store when it’s open, he’s awesome. PS: You missed some other cool spots in the Lowcountry! There’s a super old abandoned truck pit stop overrun by kudzu closer to Ehrhardt near the Rivers Bridge battle site if I remember correctly. Miley is another cool little town, way past it’s hay day but you can find old driveways and if you go searching you could try to find the old hotel. Right outside of Yemassee near the Love’s, down that road is this weird cabin with some old signs. Towards the marshes and the coast, we have some really cool spots you would love if you haven’t been through already. Beaufort has a ton of spots, downtown there’s an abandoned jail house you can sneak in if you’re careful. Towards St. Helena you can find a lot of old creepy house foundations and of course Fort Freemont, which is an old British fort you can climb all over and is sooo haunted. Then to Ridgeland, there’s a few cool old churches that are creepy but worth checking out. Next time you stop by the Lowcountry definitely check these areas out, you would love them! We also love Ruffin for the strawberries :) best in SC

I have been to the old Sheldon Church dozens of times in my life, it's on the way to the beach for me. That old, lonely road the church is on is very spiritual - if you believe in that. Lots of spirits in that area. Traveling that road at night is interesting. They have made other faster ways of getting around it, but I always take that road. Come through Aiken some time, my home town - lots of interesting things to see - not to mention all the little mill towns in the area with plenty of nostalgia every where.

When we lived near Ogden, Utah we would go to a natural spring that flowed out from under a fake tree in North Ogden. It was very good water and there was always a lot of people there getting their water jugs filled. I saw a similar spring near Mount Palomar when we went there years ago. It was off the side of the road. I am sure there are many more throughout this country. It would be interesting to find out how many there are that let you go fill your water jugs up.

I lived in SC for 3 years back in the 1980s. Sometimes my work required that I go into some of these backwoods areas. I can tell you that at night it is pitch black back there. It is so dark you can't see your hand in front of your face. Serious black. Not a bit of light from anywhere. And along side every road was a drainage ditch. If your car got down in one of them, there was little chance of getting out. I had the worst fear of getting stuck in one of them at night and nobody would be around to help me. I drove extra careful at night. There could be any kind of critter jumping out at the worst possible time. It was a bit scary, no doubt.

Yes that area of the country you do not drive with your hi beams or else you have the opportunity to meet a deer in your car. Yes Shelton Church I have been there a least 3-4 times in the past 10 years! Yemassee is also named for the indian tribe in the 1700's and the Yemassee War that took place in South Carolina.

Now I wish I had paid more attention when I lived in South Carolina what amazing amazing I love the ruins of the church amazing! I love the Mason details so that explains why it's still standing even though a fire took most of it the bones are still there! Happy travels Adam! I agree that leopard Appaloosa was gorgeous she actually looked pregnant that'd be cute little mama and little baby! It looks too early for the wisteria which I am a huge fan of but apparently in South Carolina it's a nuisance most The Vines you see like probably all over that house is most likely with wistera it's everywhere. You should pop back in when it's in full bloom if you like that Moss you will love love love the wisteria it's so pretty you've got a green canopy then the purple just breathtaking!

@@KirasArmy06 where I used to live which was Gray Court they actually have in the area relics of the South being Southern mansions but the first things to go apparently were the slave quarters but the outbuildings are pretty unique! When I go back to visit and my favorite supplier of soap making goods is out of Cayce a suburb of Colombia. We were less than a quarter mile from the chemistry store we were at the train tracks and we got a flat tire so we couldn't pick up our order and they brought our order to us! That is Southern hospitality! We were treated so kind even though we had Michigan plates I sure miss South Carolina! ❤️

We had one near our place and we called it flowing wells. Got water there all the time. One day the county stopped the flowing water spring and it was no more. Not sure if it was a water concern or not.

There are so many little towns like this to explore in South Carolina.we usually go this way home from seeing family in ga cutting from 20to 26. You can also see the painted bunting near Sheldon church. It’s rare to see but a bird that looks like a rainbow of colors. If you come to Charleston let me know and I can show you the angel oak tree. It’s really a spectacle to see. 👍🏼 lots of cool exploring to Charleston.

If you haven’t already, travel SC9 from North Myrtle Beach through Loris, Nichols, lake View, Little Rock, Dillon, Clio, and McColl. Loris (where I’m from) is growing nicely. Nichols, Lake View, McColl are small but decently populated. Little Rock and Clio are blink and miss it towns. Dillon is a bigger town. McColl has a nice old Coca Cola mural that is still very visible.

It was so cool to see you visit the old Sheldon church. My parents and I would stop here when i was a child on our way to Hunting island state park for a day at the beach. Next time you are in the area that's a very peaceful beach with a lighthouse you can tour. Another place in this video I thought was awesome to see is your stop at Shilo loop. I lived on that road about a mile from where you were. That place was so rural we didn't get phone service out there till 1980. There are 2 other places you should stop by is Walterboro and Branchville next time you are in the area. Walterboro is where the movie Radio was filmed and there is a Tuskegee airmen memorial at the Walterboro airport. Branchville is the other town which I beleive home to the oldest scheduled railway stop in america. There are lots of other great places in that part of the state.

Since you like to get off the beaten path you may enjoy hwy 23 from Ridge Spring and west. No traffic jams and there are some old plantation homes in the area. Ridge Spring is a pleasant little town with good eating. Downtown Edgefield is adorned with painted Turkeys.

Hi Adam , thanks for the Daily Woo , I enjoy it so much . I used to travel quite a bit in younger years and now I am taking care of my 97 yr old grandfather who has dementia , he is also a world war two vetern who served twice in the army , once before the war and then he returned when the war started and stayed mostlly in Italy doring the war when he wasn't out on the battle grounds . Thanks again for the videos , I miss my traveling days and I look forward to more . ps watch the older ones as well as the newer ones . Tonya :)

I live here in S.C. in Lugoff, i have not seen the whole state. But we go on a Sunday ride and have seen alot of different things. We also take picture's. We injoy it. thank ya for sharing your road trip.

Adam be careful check on the weather moving in Saturday night across the upstate. But if you make it to Greenville they have Falls Park on the Reedy. And Greenville is the home of Shoeless Joe Jackson and the Ball park of the Greenville Drive and many more things. But be careful the snow is coming. May might want to stay low till it passes unless you want to get a room and enjoy the snow. God Bless and keep you safe.
