Adam, Perhaps your infatuation with older structures and such is rooted back to a happier place and time, when small towns boomed and life in America was simpler than it is today... I know that at my 62 years of age, I often yearn for "the good old days" and truly enjoy your treks to visit and document these small towns. Thank you for what you do!

Hey Adam, I live in Newberry, SC. Would have loved to have met you. The church you showed in Prosperity on the square started out as an actual stable, then it was turned into a steakhouse called The Stable Steakhouse. If you noticed the bird bath on the square in front of the church, that was where the 13th SC formed during the Civil War. That's where the men came to enlist into the Confederacy. Gausthaus Zur Elli was a German restaurant ran by miss Wendy Steiner. She was a German immigrant but unfortunately she passed away last year and the restaurant closed down whereas she did all the cooking. Everything was authentic German food. And the Coke Mural in Newberry was originally painted by the Eagle Scouts back in the early 1940's. And you said that Newberry reminded you of Hollywood? Newberry was featured in a movie back in the late 80s called Chattahoochee starring Gary Oldman and Dennis Hopper. Thanks for visiting buddy. I hope you enjoyed your stay.

I live in upstate SC. I would recommend downtown west pelzer and the Williamston park in Williamston, SC. Has an old tank, very old walls and structures and a mineral spring, and a lot more other things like an old train tunnel and old tracks. Within 10 minutes of one another. Hope this doesn’t get lost in the comments and enjoy our beautiful state! 💜

The big building next to the church is the old Ford dealership that had storage upstairs for the cars being sold with the elevator that still works that lifted the cars up to the second floor. I was always infatuated with towns like this and buildings that look like these. The old faded murals and signs. I used to know a guy that used to take pieces of the old wood wherever he went and made small country crafts from them it was really cool he was very talented. There's just something about them. I'm like you I just don't know what it is but with the rusted tin roofs and the wood siding of the houses that look like it been weathered for a hundred years and the trees growing around them and the things falling apart. It's just something about them. When I used to travel a lot I have quite a few pictures of old houses and Barnes and old churches and etc. If I was able to do what you're doing I would do the same thing enjoy it cuz it's a lot of fun I'm sure

I am from Saluda, SC! A little known fact is, the Alamo heroes that helped us claim the land now know as Texas, were from Saluda SC! The treaty painted on the town is about the old treat that separated the lands which are now Saluda, Edgefield, Newberry, and Greenwood county. All of that large area was once known as Edgefield County. I believe it was the old 96 treaty.
